I know nothing about Gus, but The Spirit is a very tricky killer for anyone to face. She can phase in and out of existence and strike her victim when she's right on top of them.

After looking both characters up, I'd have to agree. Rin's ghostly powers seem a good deal more efficient for a kill than Gooey's.
