Michelangelo and Hotaru collided into what could only be described as a flurry of exchanged strikes and parries. The young Kempo fighter snapped with her left leg forward and out, intending on striking the wily red masked terrapin firmly onto his face, but Michelangelo had raised his arms up and crossed his forearms, blocking the strike and maintaining his guard. Hotaru then leaned forward as she then clasped her right fist in her left palm, thrusting her right elbow out for Michelangelo’s head once more, but the Turtle kept his guard and again used his forearms to block the impact. Compensating for this, Hotaru shifted with a step and she thrust her left arm out, her palm open as she aimed to perform a palm strike for the Turtle’s head. Michelangelo responded by leaning to his own left, and then thrust his right shoulder forward, impacting firmly into Hotaru to shove her back. Michelangelo firmly gripped his nunchaku in hand, and he turned with his hips only to thrust both his arms out as he aimed for the young woman’s mid-section as he responded with two punches. Hotaru rolled her hands out, slapping the punches coming for her and she responded by raising her right leg up and arcing it to the right, performing an inside outside crescent kick meant for the side of Michelangelo’s head, but the wily red masked ninja leaned back away from the kick.

Michelangelo turned in a spin to the right and he immediately brought his right leg across, intending on having the back of his foot strike Hotaru firmly across the head but the young Kempo fighter hunched underneath the attack and responded by turning in her own spin and moving her left leg across for Michelangelo’s ankles. The Turtle looked down in time, and he pushed himself up and threw his weight back, performing a reverse somersault and landed safely onto the carpeted floor. Twirling the tethered nunchaku within his hands, Michelangelo quickly swung the two weapons upward, then down and horizontally across— and rushed in for Hotaru. He would twirl the nunchaku within his right hand horizontally over from left to right, aiming for the young woman’s mid-section. Hotaru responded by hopping back away from the nunchaku, and Michelangelo then zeroed in on her once more, now swinging the nunchaku within his left hand downwards and then upward, skillfully exchanging the handles between his fingers and then swung the weapon horizontally twice.

“GAH!”

Hotaru had shut her eyes as she raised her arms to prevent herself from being struck by the wooden weapons. An impact was made onto her forearms, and a rush of pain moved across them. Then something struck along her mid-section, knocking the wind out from her— causing her to stumble back as she then clutched at her sides with her arms, working to suppress the pain which she had been subjected to. Thankfully, from what she was able to feel, nothing had been broken. None the less, it was unpleasant.

Michelangelo rushed in once more, spinning his nunchaku within his grasp and he again took aim for Hotaru’s mid-section as he would swing his right arm across for a reversal swing—intending on batting the nunchaku again into the young Kempo fighter’s body. Hotaru hopped back, evading the attack just in the nick of time. Quickly, Hotaru turned and Michelangelo rushed in hot pursuit— and the young woman ran up to the ski ball lane, now hopping onto the platform and ran up along it, and she rushed up on the wall only to push herself off from it. She shifted her weight down and thrust her right knee out, intending on striking Michelangelo onto his head before she would snap her left leg out as she performed on of her own techniques.

“RENGEKI SHOU!”

Michelangelo had widened his eyes in seeing the girl move and come down at this fast. Michelangelo had leaned forward and then pounced ahead, now curling himself into a ball and rolling underneath Hotaru as she plummet towards him, only to miss her mark and land onto her feet. Michelangelo remained in his hunched and squat positon as he rolled onto his feet, and he summoned the vast reserves of strength as he planted his hands onto the ground, only to push himself back and now thrust both his legs out for Hotaru’s chest.

The Kempo girl crossed her arms out in front of herself, taking the full brunt of Michelangelo’s attack with her forearms and she was forced to buckle back, only to now hit the side of an arcade cabinet. She took in a deep breath of air, and now focused on attuning herself to the energy within. Upon feeling it, Hotaru guided the energy forward and gracefully with gentleness, moved her right arm out and project that energy forward. From the palm of her hand, Hotaru released a blue sphere of energy towards the Turtle, performing the Hakki-shou technique. Michelangelo had been learning to deal with these projectile techniques, seeing his brothers fight these people many times and even engaging with a few of them himself.

“Yeah, not today kawaii cutie. Not today.” Michelangelo spoke.

And when the projectile came close, Michelangelo spun the nunchaku within his right hand, twirling and then he would swing the weapon vertically downward. The tethered weapon collided with the blue sphere of energy, and there was a sudden disruption of motion. The projectile distorted, swelling before dissipating into blue wisps and the nunchaku went through the energy sphere as only though sheer physical strength had Michelangelo been able to achieve something like that.

“N-NANI?!” Hotaru stammered.

“Yeah, didn’t think I’d be able to do it too but hey… like that party trick?” Mike chuckled.

Hotaru took in a breath of air, puffing her cheeks as she then glared to the red masked Turtle. She now rushed in as fast as she was able to do so, and the Kempo fighter unleashed whatever frustrations she already seemed to be experiencing as she lashed out at her opponent. She turned with her hips and then thrust her right arm outward with her palm open and flat, intending to perform a palm strike for Michelangelo’s face. She again turned with her hips, performing the same technique with her left before she would reel her arms back and push them out, attempting to land in a  double palm strike for Michelangelo’s mid-section.

Michelangelo weaved from side to side, evading the first two strikes but then felt the Kempo fighter’s small hands hitting him in his plastron, and he was forced to stumble back as he grunted. Despite her small statue, the girl was strong for someone her age and size. However, Hotaru felt the strength and hardness of the reptile’s plastron and realized… that was perhaps not part of a costume which she felt.

But she broke from her initial shock, determined to keep the pressure going.

Quickly moving towards her opponent, Hotaru again directed the energy within herself to move through her body and diverted the current to her legs. She moved to a spin, and then snapped her right leg up in a rising side kick all the way as high as she could. A blue arc of energy trailed after her foot as she performed another technique known as the Kyobi-Kyaku. Michelangelo was struck firmly in the chin, and he grunted upon impact.

“Yes! Go get’em Hotaru!” Jenet hollered out.

“C’mon Mike, you got this! You got this!” Raphael yelled in support of his younger brother.

Hotaru continued in hot pursuit of her opponent, rushing in after Michelangelo. She immediately then thrust her arms forward and out as she turned with her weight, aiming for the reptile’s head and mid-section. Michelangelo worked to evade and block the incoming strikes, positioning his forearms vertically, swinging them inward and across to divert the strikes away. Hotaru shifted with a step, positioning her left arm horizontally and raising it vertically overhead as she turned with her hips and thrust her right arm outward, her hand clenched into a fist as she moved it out for Michelangelo’s mid-section again. The Turtle was being pressed, forced to move back and he crossed his arms out in front of himself, blocking the strike as he tensed his muscles. Keeping the pressure going, Hotaru skipped and hopped, turning a spin as she then extended her arms down and fluidly brought them down and pushed them as she aimed to bring them down onto Michelangelo, and strike him onto his chest.

“SOU-SHOU SHIN!”

Michelangelo side-stepped to his left, and he swung his right leg diagonally up over to the left only to firmly strike Hotaru into her abdomen region. The Kempo girl widened her eyes as she felt a tremendous pressure pushing against her body, causing air to leave her mouth and a pain to replace it.

The red masked wily reptile would twirled his nunchaku in hand, exchanging the handles between his fingers and went onto the assault, as he would swing his weapons across for her arms and vertically downwards for her shoulders, and upwards for her chin. Hotaru grunted out as Michelangelo managed to land each and every blow down onto her, and she winced when contact had been made. Then, Michelangelo swung his arms across to the right, swinging both nunchaku and he managed to firmly strike Hotaru onto her chest—and the young Kempo girl was sent flying back.

Hotaru had hit the ground, now shaking her head as she looked up to see that she was surrounded by many pinball machines and looked ahead of herself to see Michelangelo running over to her. The wily masked ninja then had leaned forward and snapped with his left leg in a front kick, but Hotaru rolled to the side, evading the incoming foot and she bolted to her feet. The mutant Turtle had turned with his hips and he unleashed two quick jabs as he aimed for Hotaru’s chest region, but the Kempo girl immediately rolled her hands down—slapping away at the Turtle’s hands to divert the punches away from him. To keep his own pressure going, Michelangelo leaned to the left and he’d swing his right arm’s elbow across, now firmly smacking it across Hotaru’s face. The Kempo girl shut her eyes as a wash of pain overwhelmed her senses and she stumbled to the side. Seizing the moment, Michelangelo then turned to a spin, hunched down and then pushed himself to a leap—as he did so, he spun his nunchaku in his right hand and raised the weapon while it spun—delivering multiple blows to Hotaru’s chest and her chin.

“RISING THUNDER!”

Hotaru was catapulted into the air, and gravity pulled her down like a steel ball— now dropping against the floor once more. Her head rang with incredible pain and she shut her eyes again to help combat against the agony which interfered with her senses. Tears of pain were beginning to form into her eyes but the young Kempo fighter fought to keep then held back. Firmly planting her hands onto the ground, Hotaru pushed herself to her feet and once more entered into her fighting stance.

“You know he totally made that move up, right?” Raphael whispered to his brothers.

“Oh, totally… No way Master Splinter taught him that one. And calling out his attack? I mean… who does that? Just… Why? I don’t get that these people do that.” Donatello responded.

Mike and Hotaru stared to one another, both intending to come out of this victorious over the other. The Kempo fighter took in another deep breath of air, in through her nose and out from her mouth as she worked to endure the pain which she had been subjected to. Finding herself once more, she now stepped forth and rushed in for the Turtle. Michelangelo quickly stepped ahead and also rushed in for his opponent. And like before, there was a collision. The mutant Red Ear Slider spun his nunchaku his left hand and twirled them upwards, but Hotaru side-stepped to her right and evaded the incoming weapon. She turned with her hips and thrust her left and right arm out twice, intending on striking at Michelangelo’s face with her palms. The Turtle had weaved from side to side, evading the strikes. Hotaru then attuned herself to her own energy flow once more, and then channeled it to rise to her highest point—and she kicked herself upwards and back with an arc of blue energy following, now moving both her feet up for Michelangelo’s chin as he performed a leaping reverse somersault kick. The Turtle grunted and the next thing which he knew was that he was airborne. Hotaru then shifted her weight down, now dropping towards Michelangelo—straddling onto him as both now crashed onto the top of a pinball machine.

Glass shattered and metal bent beneath the combined weight of the Turtle and the Kempo girl. Michelangelo awkwardly stared up at the girl, as she gazed into his eyes—and placed her hands down onto his chest. Hotaru then had directed her energy down through her arms and hands, and focused on manifesting it outwardly in the form of an explosion. Hotaru arched her back and yelled out in a display of her power. Michelangelo widened his eyes as soon as there was a bright blue light, and suddenly his ears went deaf for a moment and a burst of energy enveloped him. Pain moved through out the Turtle’s body, and as soon as the light had come— it faded.

Hotaru rolled back away from the Turtle, now standing to her feet and formed a smile on her face. But then… her smile faded as she widened her eyes to now see the Turtle still moving.

“Ouch… that hurt. But… I ain’t out yet girlie!”

Michelangelo pushed himself to his feet with a strain and he stepped forward, now rushing right in towards Hotaru. He then had twirled his nunchaku within his grasp and as he neared the girl—Michelangelo then swiftly would unleash a barrage of attacks. He twirled his nunchaku horizontally for Hotaru’s mid-section, then turned with his hips and swung his left arm’s elbow out across for her head, followed up by swinging his left leg across to the right, aiming at her knees, and then rearing his leg back before snapping it up and out for her mid-section. Michelangelo turned in a spin and he swung his right leg across, now performing a spinning wheel kick and impacted it across Hotaru’s head. Lastly, Michelangelo then swung his right arm upward, spinning his nunchaku and hitting it directly into Hotaru’s chin.

The  Kempo girl fell back and dropped to a slump as she then planted her hands onto the ground to prevent herself from dropping completely. But it wasn’t long until she gave out and dropped onto the floor, breathing heavily from exhaustion and soon enough— passed out.

“Ah, bollocks! Bloody bollocks!” Jenet rolled her eyes as she then stamped her foot firmly.

Michelangelo turned and looked over to his brothers, now making his way over to them. Raphael raised his hands and nodded in approval of his brother’s victory. The younger Turtle then had moved his hands up, slapping at the hot-headed sibling’s palms and chuckled in amusement, despite the mild pain which he was currently experiencing. Donatello moved to where there was a nearby stool, taking it in hand and now moved to where his brothers were, now offering a seat to Michelangelo. Leonardo just now took in a breath of air as he sighed in relief— he stared to Michelangelo and offered only the most subtle of smiles.

Bonne Jenet crossed her arms in frustration now as she looked over to the now unconscious and beaten forms of Rock Howard, Khushnood Butt and now Hotaru Futaba. Things seemed to be going well enough when Rock managed to take one of the Turtles down, but that all changed during the last two matches. So, if she was going to be pulling a victory for her team— then it was all on her now.

“Right, well I suppose it’s all up to me then. Which one of you strapping lads is going to be the one to show a lady a good night?” Jenet spoke out as she formed a sarcastic smile on her face.

Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo looked at her for a moment and then took the time to think about which one of them was going to participate in the next round. Donatello simply shrugged his shoulders as he formed something of a smile on his face.

“I guess that’s my que, gentlemen!” He chuckled.

Donatello stepped forward, moving calmly as he now made his way to the British woman only to stop about six feet from her. Jenet merely put something of a smug look on her face as she raised her right hand up, brushing her hair back as she now took a moment to look at the red masked genius Turtle. She couldn’t help but raise a brow at this as she shook her head in disbelief. Who would’ve thought that these so called Turtle cosplayers, or what she thought were cosplayers, were capable of taking her team out?

“I’m guessing this is going to be the last dance for tonight, mademoiselle?” He inquired.

“And end with a kiss that turns you into a prince? As if!” Jenet retorted.

“I think that logic applies to frogs, not Turtles!”

“Just… are you gonna be making wise cracks or are we gonna be having a jolly good time then?”

Donatello chuckled as he moved his right arm back and took hold of the metal bo-staff which he had acquired sometime after his original wooden one had been broken in the fight against Andy Bogard. He drew the weapon out and then spun it within his grasp, now positioning himself into fighting position now.

Jenet then had smirked as she now entered into her own battle posture…

Both reptile and blonde beauty stared to one another— only to then rush ahead as fast as they were able to do so. And so what could potentially be the last match between the Turtles and Team Garou kicked off.

Alright, so the next match up between the Mirage Turtles and Team Garou is officially kicked off! I tried to write up the recap sometime last night and earlier today but real life errands needed to be undertaken and I had to focus on those before I could so much as post this online. So while it has been posted up late, it's better than waiting a week's worth of time and wondering when I was going to get this done. I will say that writing up Hotaru's fighting style was rather difficult, as I feel as if her in-game techniques weren't at all really resembling Kempo, so I aimed to use a lot of palm strikes which maybe common in the aforementioned fighting style. Of course, I also didn't want to be too rough on her with Michelangelo, but I didn't also want him to come off as holding back.

So here we are... and this is a rather odd match up but then again, I suppose it would've been for any of the Turtles to take on Bonne Jenet. None the less, after Team Garou, I am going to have to consider other teams for the Turtles to take on as this goes on. I have a few in mind but... we'll see.

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

--

Donatello is low tier superhuman in terms of physicals. Think Above Peak Human due to his mutation.

Donatello possesses a new Electro Bo-Staff, Electro Shurikens, Metsubushi Black Eggs filled with Ghost Chili Pepper and Kunai.

Bonne Jenet is in Peak Conditioning due to her training.

Bonne Jenet has her moveset from the Garou and KOF games.

Hah! Someone knows about TMNT: Tournament Fighters. Didn't think you were quite old enough, Rakai. The game came out in, like, the early-mid '90's.

And Mikey got caught in Hotaru's straddle-and blast move! As predicted, he didn't get a chance to enjoy it. :D

Anyways, great set-up as usual, Rakai. Great and fairly-intense recap, with some moves I didn't expect to see. Great job showing how Michelangelo can be the best improviser of the Turtles.

As for the match, while B. Jenet is good, I think Donnie should be able to handle her with his skill and gadgets. B. Jenet does have some good moves, but she doesn't exactly strike me as the most committed fighter, and may be even less committed to the craft than Donatello.

She got a couple of undeserved wins in JohnnyChany's arc, so here's to hoping her streak doesn't continue here.

Oh, I'm definitely getting up there in age. I had the game back on the SNES around the 90s, and I enjoyed the hell out of it! So I'm glad you caught that little Easter Egg right there. It's kind of a nod to the game and the fighting game genre as a whole. I'm debating on incorperating a lot of the moves from that game for the Mirage Turtles but we'll see. I try my best to stick to TMNT canon when it comes to what they can do...

I took what you said and figured... How can I put that in there? I just did and... well, it seemed to work for what it does!

Well, I had no idea that happened in JohnnyChanny's arc but considering what the Turtles have been through in this storyline-- hopefully, Donatello will give her something of a good fight. I also appreciate your assessment of how this battle could go!

Don't be calling things out now! Her win was totally justified lol.

This maybe an uphill fight for her, but I think she could throw Donatello off a bit by her appearance and he could underestimate her.

That won't happen. Donnie does machines! 😆

In all seriousness, I don't think her feminine wiles would be any worry to Donatello. It's more likely to happen to Michelangelo but I don't see it happening to Donatello. He's only got one thing on his mind and that's science!

I would argue her only major suspect victory was over Cervantes, and it remains the biggest upset in an arc that is now on it's 150th match. Although I would personally pick Lili, her or Bonne Jenet is closer to a toss up. If anything it proves how relying on a character's CBUB history when deciding a battle is not always the best strategy since I would put a victory over Cervantes above anyone that this version of Donatello has defeated thus far. (Although using past battles within an arc makes more sense to me) But, I'm not picking her in this fight because I believe she is outskilled. Sorry SSJRuss. Speaking of, as soon as I saw that she was on Team Garou, I figured B. Jenet's inclusion would bring you to this match. Glad to see I wasn't wrong lol.

As for the setup itself, great as always. I also appreciated the old video game moves utilized in the recap. Curious as to what's next and how you do this recap because win or lose, B. Jenet has some pretty entertaining moves.

Personally, I do not rely on a character's win/loss record unless it's an arc for characters which I am attempting to build up, namely in this case it's the Mirage Turtles record that I am counting for these matches as I may need those for if and when they fight Marvel and DC characters. However, I do not count other people's storylines as in-continuity for my arc as I don't want to interfere with what they are doing with other characters.

Thanks for the analysis, JohnnyChany. Writing up Jenet's style likely might have to require researching her moveset and a look into Savate.

Heehee, you're doing well with the blending of comedy and action in these fights Rakai, I like it. Comedy is hard to pull off in some ways, as it is a form of art very subjective to most, but I like how you are using it here, as a way to blend the awkwardness of certain fight circumstances with the character's personal interactions among each other as a whole. All in all, it is working to provide a greater sense of connectivity between the characters and their opponents during and before each match.

Each turtle's fights, generally, all reflect different aspects of their personalities and styles too, which I kind of like as well, as it gives them all the unique qualities they usually express, while remaining fresh each time by not being cookie cutter in terms of how the fights are written.

The fight again though, while comical at times, still maintained a sense of urgency, and even though Hotaru was perhaps counted out in some ways, I like how you presented her determination and her struggle to keep going for as long as she could, even against the might of Michelangelo, it leaves more character growth for her to potentially achieve and other story possibilities for her, in spite of her underestimation, good work. I did like the more chaotic damage in here, as the pinball machine's destruction, did present more opportunity for wreckage and fury from the impact of the fight, so good stuff there too.

Well it looks like Donnie's staff is gonna get some mileage here, as he'll need to block Bonne's mid and high kicks, as those can be killer if too many manage to make contact with him in this fight. Ultimately though, this is fight is definitely going to come down to a lot of speed and evasion on Donnie's part, as Bonne is incredible fast on her feet, and can launch attacks rapidly, in attempts to pin opponents in corners, so Donnie's definitely going to have to watch for that. Among other specials, her ballerina like attack of spinning on her opponents chest with her feet, and her whirlwind attacks, will put Donatello in a bind if he isn't careful, but Donnie is a smart fighter, and I don't think he'll let his guard down that easily if he can help it, so I think he'll make it through for better or worse.

I do my best and try and work in the personalities of the characters, as well as try and capture their fighting styles!

Sometimes, that's not even easy to do but I try and manage!

Possible explanation: seduction?

Not likely. That might work on Michelangelo but not Donatello as easily.

This is gonna be hard to write. Turtles take it with Raphael and Michelangelo pulling through. Leo tied with Rock, and now Don tied with B. Jenet.

Not sure of the direction. But if I think of something to suggest I will.

Edit: Maybe a double D.Q. or double K.O?

I can't help but wonder who voted for who that didn't comment.

I'd still say one the biggest issues here is that not enough people are voting overall. The more people that vote, the less likely that votes end up in ties.
