Match 16870 Salvatore Leone vs. Corrigan (Driver)

NEAR THE LIBYAN COAST 1989

 

As the chopper landed the Libyan guards realized their error too late as the mercs and wiseguys stormed out of the chopper with guns blazing. One takes an RPG from the chopper and blows up the radio tower, disabling communications for the camp. While the guns blazed Gallen made his way through the camp, gunning down two Libyan guards with his SMG. With a merc in tow as the approached the prison a Libyan guard pops up and shoots the merc and anther bullet grazes Gallen. This severely angers the immortal hitman, taking cover, Gallen takes out his broadsword. He sneaks up on the guard, elbowing him and causing him to turn around, as he does, Gallen makes a quick slash with his sword at the guards stomach slicing it open, causing his intestines to spill out and much blood to fall on the ground as the guard screams in agony. Gallen grabs the keys from the dead guard, as he flanked by the two wiseguys enters the prison compound with the remaining mercs in tow. With a quick introduction, Gallen frees the Italian Black Ops. They quickly are given weapons from dead guards, as the guards try to make an attempt to stop the escape another mercenary is shot dead by a bullet, the team open fire back, two more camp guards, spattering blood on the walls. As the gaurds fall back, the team rush to the helicopter on the roof guarded by a two mercenaries, including the team sniper. As they attempt to make a getaway, the remaining guards make another counter attack. The sniper makes a series of kills with his Dragunov, blowing holes in several guards. The rest are cut down by the team's gun fire. As the team makes its escape Gallen radios in that the job is done to Mike Toreno. Who uses his own communications to radio an airstrike in on the camp to cover the escape. After the chopper makes its getaway, a group of Royal Navy Harriers from HMS Ark Royal drop FAE bombs on the camp, covering all tracks.

 

 

LIBERTY CITY 1989

 

As these events transpire, Salvatore Leone looks to tighten his control of Liberty City. He receives an offer from a cooked LCPD Cop named Corrigan, promoted several times and looking to become a major figure in the Federal Investigation Bureau. Corrigan comes to Salvatore looking to make a deal, help crack down on Salvatore's enemies, namely the Sindacco Crime Family and Forelli Crime Family in exchange for turning a blind eye to the Leones in exchange for him getting his cut. Under a front of sorts he heads to Salvatore's Mansion in Saint Mark's. As they two discuss business they along with other Leone underbosses begin playing Blackjack. Is a deal reached? Corrigan is already very crooked. This poll also determines who wins the most games of Blackjack which determines how much of a cut Corrigan might get.

I can't comment much because I am unfamiliar with these characters but I do like that the set-up details something other than just a straight up fight, way to keep it interesting and different. I have no idea how either of these men are as card players but if his payday is on the line perhaps Corrigan gets a little bold in his betting and maybe it works out for him. Narratively, it takes the story in a more interesting place so that's what I am going with.
