I think McCoy is a little too practical for something like this? Hawkeye always seemed more worldly with his wisdom, so I think he would be better at identifying this.

Hawkeye's great, but even 2009 McCoy is leagues beyond. He actually brought Kirk back to life in Into Darkness

I feel like McCoy is so... pessimistic about things that he would think that a minor cough would be the sign to something so much worse, and would run diagnostic tests until he found the answer. I don't know. I really don't know much about Hawkeye Pierce
