Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, Haohmaru, Nakoruru and Jubei watched on as Michelangelo and Galford proceeded on with their battle. Both were extremely similar to one another in terms of personality but their fighting styles and approach were completely in contrast to one another. To the Turtles, it was always interesting to see how they were able to cope with enemies with different fighting styles and how much they could learn from watching each other—seeing whatever mistakes were made and developing means in turning those weaknesses into strengths. The Turtles couldn’t help but reminisce about their battles against their multiverse counterparts. But now, they were focused on the competition at hand involving their youngest sibling.

Galford swung his sword downward, moving the blade diagonally down to the left as he took aim for the red masked wily Turtle’s mid-section. Michelangelo hopped back away from the incoming weapon and now took notice as Galford quickly then rushed forward and turned in a spin to his right, and again swung his blade across for the Turtle’s mid-section. Michelangelo tensed up his leg muscles and he pushed himself up and forward, only to then throw his weight downward only to perform an aerial somersault over the American ninja and the mutant Turtle had landed feet first onto the ground. Quickly turning to meet his opponent’s back, Michelangelo then twirled the nunchaku within his right hand and he would swing his weapon upward. Galford turned and widened his eyes to see the Turtle’s weapon moving up for his chin, now snapping back to a defensive posture and he set his blade horizontally, blocking the nunchaku which was meant for his chin. Michelangelo then watched as the force of his blow made the blonde haired man buckle back, now following up as he swung the nunchaku within his left hand back across to the left, and then horizontally to the right. Galford positioned his blade before himself, deflecting the strikes away from himself with his ninjaken and worked to maintain his footing.

Michelangelo seized the moment as he then had turned with his weight and he swung his left leg across to the right, taking aim at Galford’s knees and he managed to strike the young man across his legs. Galford narrowed his eyes in a momentary display of discomfort and he stumbled, momentarily losing his footing. The red masked wily Turtle then reared his left leg back and snapped it across to the right, firmly impacting the American ninja across his side as he performed a roundhouse kick once more. Galford gasped out as he felt the air within himself being kicked out from him, widening his eyes in further discomfort.

“GUH!”

Michelangelo then turned with his hips and he quickly swung his left arm across, firmly striking his fist across Galford’s cheek— causing the American ninja to forcibly turn his head and a wash of pain entered Galford’s senses. Michelangelo then turned with his hips and he would grip his nunchaku firmly within his grasp only to roll his fists out, firmly striking Galford onto his face before he tensed up his leg muscles and pushed himself to a leap, now kicking both his legs out and firmly striking the blonde haired man onto his chest. Galford stumbled back, hitting his back against the front grill of a parked vehicle. Michelangelo landed flat onto his plastron, before he would plant his hands onto the ground and flipped himself back onto his feet.

Summoning whatever gumption he could, Galford now stepped and charged right in towards the red masked mutant Turtle. He moved his arms down, slashing his steel ninjaken down for the top of Michelangelo’s head but the Turtle quickly then had side-stepped over to his left and watched as the American ninja turned to now face him. He rushed forward, now planting his left foot onto Michelangelo’s right knee and he pushed himself to leap off from the Turtle, only to kick his left foot out hard onto Michelangelo’s plastron only to rebound and keep himself aerial, then turning with his weight to the left before he swung his right leg across in a roundhouse. Michelangelo felt something striking him across his head, and he was unable to help but drop onto the ground as his head rang with immediate pain. Flopping onto his plastron protected chest, Michelangelo then planted his hands down onto the ground and stared upon his opponent as he then blinked hard, working to the fight the momentary daze.

That was a good kick, he had to give Galford credit there.

Landing back onto his feet, Galford now moved his right hand to the back of his hip. He then took hold of two ringed handles and drew them out, revealing them to be a pair of kunai. It was at this moment he worked to channel the energy within himself, focused it to move through into his kunai. Now channeling his energy, he focused on converting it to electricity and now the kunai began to glow an electric blue.

“PLASMA BLADE!”

Galford thew his hand out, releasing the two kunai from his grasp and the two blades were speeding right in towards Michelangelo. The red masked Turtle widened his eyes, never having expected that his opponent was able to infuse electrical energy inside of steel weapons like that. Quickly reacting to this, Michelangelo spun his nunchaku within his hands and then swung the pair in his right hand down and successfully managed to deflect the kunai down. The clang of metal echoed through the area of the Manhattan Bridge.

Galford quickly then rushed towards his opponent only to then slash his ninjaken vertically for Michelangelo’s head. Michelangelo swerved to his left, and Galford quickly turned to meet his opponent and took aim for the Turtle’s neck region and slashed for a decapitation swing. Michelangelo, seeing the movement of his opponent’s arms—quickly pulled his head in to his shell, allowing for the sword to harmlessly pass by. Galford quickly pulled his arms back and then motioned forward, thrusting his blade out three quick times as he aimed for Michelangelo’s plastron protected mid-section, but the Turtle side-stepped from right to left, evading the incoming stabbing thrusts. In retaliation of this, the wily Turtle then had twirled the nunchaku within his hands across in towards one another as he set to strike at Galford’s mid-section. The blond haired man leaned back and gripped his sword in his grasp, now using the weapon to block at the twin nunchaku which was moving in for his mid-section. Michelangelo then shifted forward with a step and he swung his right arm horizontally over from right to left, going for his opponent’s chest region once more, and again Galford positioned his blade to deflect the incoming strikes.

Galford quickly retaliated by slashing his ninjaken over from left to right as he took aim for Michelangelo’s face, but the red masked ninja had spun his weapons— now moving his nunchaku horizontally, blocking and knocking the blade away from him to prevent the American ninja from striking away at him. Opting to mix things up, Galford turned to a spin to his left, as he then raised his left leg up and arced it across, striking Michelangelo firmly across his face as he performed an inside outside crescent kick only to then take to the air and follow with the motion and he’d swing his right leg across in a roundhouse— firmly striking Michelangelo hard cross his face once more.

Michelangelo stumbled back but then he felt something taking a hold of him by the wrist, and immediately looked down to see Galford now gripping him tightly.

“Hey! Lemmie go!” Michelangelo stammered.

It was at this moment that Galford directed his energy to flow through his body, moving it down to his legs and feet and he pushed himself up to leap at a height of fourteen feet. Michelangelo suddenly felt a brief sense of weightlessness and widened his eyes as Galford managed to take him into the air with him. Galford now channeled his energy through out himself, and focused on converting the energy into electricity as he threw his weight forward and down, positioning himself upside down with Michelangelo. He threw his weight and now would spin in the air as lightning now arced all around himself and the red masked Turtle. Michelangelo hit the ground on his carapace, and lightning struck down onto the concrete.

“SHRIKE DROP!”

Michelangelo grunted as he had hit the ground and then screamed as electricity coursed through his entire body. Galford then had flipped back up onto his feet and now watched over Michelangelo. Writhing in pain, Michelangelo worked to remain conscious and was fighting to overcome the pain which he was undergoing. Placing his hands down onto the concrete, the red masked ninja pushed himself onto his knees. Michelangelo pushed himself to his feet, and he kept his hands wrapped around his nunchaku.

“Okay, Sparks! That… was a nasty one right there!”

“Glad to know you like that one! I got plenty more where that came from!”

Michelangelo was already expecting some sort of trick. He had recalled the only other ninja whom he had fought, and recalled how Mai Shiranui relied on her wiles to get ahead in battles. But whatever Galford had in mind, Michelangelo would have to most certainly do his best and come up with something to keep ahead in the game. He had already lost to the Shiranui Kunoichi, he didn’t need to lose to Galford.

The blonde haired ninja then charged right in towards the Turtle, but Michelangelo quickly then had moved his right hand down to his utility belt and quickly felt around for something. As soon as his fingertips felt a pellet— he gripped it and then threw it down and watched as a waft of smoke erupted and spread out. Galford raised his arms up, holding his blade firmly in his grasp only to then stop as the burst of flame erupted in front of him and now his visible was obscured by the sheet of thick smoke.  He quickly had moved his left hand out aiming to brush the smoke away but by the time the smoke cleared, Galford widened his eyes to see that Michelangelo was nowhere to be found. He sharply turned his head from right to left, surveying the area of the Manhattan Bridge.

Galford looked over to Poppy and thought about if she would be of use in sniffing his opponent out but then the scent of sulfur infiltrated his nostrils. It was then he had realized that this foul scent would be enough to potentially mask the Turtle well enough from the dog. It was something very clever, he had to admit— as it was something which he would’ve done himself. He continued to look around, now eying the crowd that surrounded the area and their vehicles as there might have been a chance which Michelangelo could’ve been using them as a means of cover.

Galford felt the hairs on the back of his neck rise and Poppy immediately started barking. Quickly turning, the American ninja now widened his eyes to see a movement from green blur rushing towards him.

Michelangelo quickly then twirled the nunchaku within his right hand vertically upwards as he aimed for Galford’s chin, but his opponent quickly positioned his blade horizontally and used it to block the incoming nunchaku strike. The red masked Turtle then had pushed himself upwards and back, now reverse somersaulting only to plant his hands down onto the concrete and then he would hunch down only to then swing both his legs across to smack his feet into Galford’s ankles. However, Galford push himself with his feet, leaping over the incoming sweep and as he had landed, he retaliated by snapping his left leg out and then turned with his weight, quickly moving his right leg over to the left as he aimed for Michelangelo’s mid-section and head, performing two roundhouse kicks. Michelangelo slapped down at the front kick with his left hand. The Turtle then leaned into the incoming kick as he flexed his left arm, taking the first roundhouse kick and endured the brunt of the second as he blocked. Galford then quickly thrust his ninjaken forward as he aimed for the Turtle’s mid-section but Michelangelo would side-step to his opponent’s right and rushed in. He would swing both nunchaku one after the other, horizontally as he aimed for Galford’s mid-section and face.

However, to Michelangelo’s surprise— a burst of smoke erupted and in Galford’s place was a wooden log which dropped onto the ground. Michelangelo was familiar with this trick… but he didn’t think it would be done this manner. Michelangelo turned and immediately took notice of a shape dropping down from above, and it was Galford—slashing his blade down for the Turtle’s mid-section.

“OH HELL NO!” Michelangelo shouted.

Quickly, he gripped one of the pair of nunchaku in his hand, pulled it taught and allowed the ninjaken to strike down at the steel chain which tethered the clubbed weapons together.

“That was some serious Naruto shit which you pulled!” Michelangelo grinned.

Confused, Galford raised a brow as he tilted his head to express this emotion. Suddenly, he felt himself being pulled as Michelangelo then twirled his nunchaku and used the weapons to ensnare them around the blonde haired ninja’s wrist. The red masked wily Turtle then had thrust his right leg up, slamming his knee directly into Galford’s mid-section four quick times. The American ninja gasped out as he grunted with each impact. Michelangelo then turned in a spin only to lean forward and used the momentum of the movement to throw Galford down onto the concrete.

“UNNGH!”

As his opponent had hit the ground, Michelangelo then tensed up his leg muscles and he pounced forward only to then flip, now pulling his arms, legs and his head into his shell and focused on his weight to slam down onto Galford. The American Koga ninja widened his eyes as his lungs were compressed— now once again losing the air within himself and he writhed in a display of momentary agony.

Michelangelo pushed his head and limbs, now placing his hands onto the ground and now rose to his very feet. He then looked down to his opponent, and the red masked ninja stepped back as he spun his nunchaku, then moving them vertically downward and upward, horizontally and then downward only to tuck them beneath his arm pits. He watched as Galford would rise to his own feet and he could see that the American ninja was getting weary from how much difficulty he was having in getting back up.

Galford then quickly rushed forward, still gripping his ninjaken within his grasp immediately set his sights on Michelangelo’s mid-section and he swung his arms across, slashing his blade over from left to right. Michelangelo stepped back from each of the intended strikes, and Galford then slashed his blade diagonally down over to the right, again going for Michelangelo’s plastron. Michelangelo quickly then spun to his left and moved behind the American Iga ninja swiftly only to then swing his weapons across. He succeeded in managing to strike down onto Galford’s mid-section and striking away at his arms. The red masked ninja then had tensed up the muscles within his legs only to then push himself upwards and back, now swinging both his legs up and he struck Galford directly in his chin. The American Koga ninja stumbled back, but Michelangelo rushed in and he turned in a spin only to then push himself to a leap and he swung his right leg over to the left, performing a leaping crescent kick—firmly impacting Galford across his face, and the American Iga ninja was sent flying in towards the side of a large parked truck.

Galford rebounded off from the side of the vehicle, and he had hit the ground flat onto his chest. The blonde haired man now was sweating out beads, and he worked to regain his composure as he took in several deep breaths of air through his nose, holding in his breath for a few moments and focused on working to dull down the pain which he was experiencing. Again, placing his hands onto the ground— the American Iga ninja then rose to his feet and gripped his blade firmly… And then he looked over to Poppy.

The American Iga ninja then placed his finger closer to his lips, and he gave off a whistle. Poppy then barked and already began charging right in towards Michelangelo. The Husky then had pounced at Michelangelo, paws extended out and she managed to land onto the Turtle, snapping her jaws at his face but the red masked ninja quickly moved a pair of his nunchaku up at her jaws— allowing her to bite onto those instead. The push was enough to get Michelangelo to drop onto his carapace, and he was startled at the fact that Galford managed to summon the Husky to attack like that. Frantically, Michelangelo then had released the nunchaku within his right hand and he slipped his hand to his utility belt—feeling around for something and when he felt it, he pulled it out only to reveal it to be a Slim Jim. Without hesitating, Michelangelo brough the sausage stick to his mouth and he bit down onto the wrapper, tore it open and pulled it off. He moved the stick directly into the dog’s nose, and Poppy caught the scent. The red masked Turtle then had tossed the Slim Jim away from himself now, and the Husky chased after the treat only to then grab a hold of it firmly within her jaws and began to chew away at it, savoring the taste.

Raphael cackled at he saw how Michelangelo was able to deal with that problem. Donatello just snickered as he shook his head from side to side, and Leonardo merely blinked as he folded his arms out in front of himself.

Galford just dropped his jaw as he then watched as Poppy had seemingly gotten distracted from the treat.

Seizing the opportunity, Michelangelo then quickly rolled forward and moved back to his feet. He then stepped forward and began running as fast as he could at the American Koga ninja and the red masked wily Turtle set himself in motion to a cartwheel as he threw his arms down and planted his hands to the concrete ground, now flipping his way over to Galford. Then, Michelangelo threw himself forward—only to pull his arms and legs into his shell along with his head, and he firmly struck Galford in his chest, sending the ninja flying back but Michelangelo immediately popped out from his shell only to grab a hold of Galford’s ankles within his grasp. He turned in a spin and the red masked ninja would build up the centrifugal force to keep Galford off from the ground. Galford screamed out as she flailed his arms out and it was at this moment Michelangelo released his opponent. The American Koga ninja impacted the side of another vehicle, and he hit the ground.

Michelangelo snapped into his fighting stance, nunchaku held in his grasp as he looked to his opponent. The Turtle began to count to ten.

Galford didn’t move.

Michelangelo earned the match and he took in a deep breath of air through his nostrils and released a sigh of relief. He turned and now looked over to his brothers, and Michelangelo raised his left arm up—pumping it in a display of his own victory. Raphael reached out with his right hand, patting it onto Michelangelo’s shell and Leonardo then had nodded to his youngest brother in acknowledgement of his hard earned victory. Donatello chuckled as he gave his brother a smile, and briefly looked over to the two remaining opponents of the other team.

It was the samurai with the eye patch and the young girl with the bird of prey.

“And then there were two… Alright, Leo managed to get the first win… I managed to get the last one…Which one of us is going to be next?” Michelangelo inquired.

“So far, Raphael and Donatello haven’t had a turn… Knowing Raph, he probably wants to go next.” Leonardo spoke.

Raphael then had looked over to the remaining members of the opposing team, and then blinked at the samurai with the eye patch and the young girl as well. He raised his brow in a quizzical manner and grunted as he moved his arms down and took a hold of his twin sai. However, he would be halted as Donatello gripped his electro-staff and spun it, only to hold it out and barred Raphael from proceeding further.

“You’ve been greedy with the last couple of fights. Let me go next, will you?” Donatello smirked.

Raphael grunted as he then shrugged his shoulders and took a step back to watch as his brother now proceeded ahead. Leonardo and Michelangelo just looked over to Donatello and were curious which of the remaining two opponents which he would be set to face.

“Hmm… Haohmaru and Galford have been soundly defeated. Perhaps it is now up to me to see if we can expand our chances, Ms. Nakoruru.” The samurai with the eye patch spoke.

“Hai. Please, do be careful Yagyu-san.”

The samurai now stepped forward and took note of the Turtle with the staff approaching him. He couldn’t help but raise his left hand to his chin and gently stroked at it as he now took a moment to size up his opponent. These opponents were truly something unique and very unusual, but they all thought with a warrior’s spirit. That was a quality which he had to respect and even commend.

“I am Jubei Yagyu… Are you my opponent?”

“Donatello! Ninja Turtle at your service!”

Jubei nodded at this… unusual introduction as he sized up the intellectual Turtle. Quickly, he then had moved his arms down to his hips and then took a hold of the handles of his twin swords and drew them out from their sheathes. Donatello then spun his staff quickly and with skill as he then snapped back into his own fighting stance. Much like the samurai, the intellectual Turtle took a moment to observe Jubei’s defenses and his battle posture. And from the way he seemed to be wielding two katana— almost reminded him of how Leonardo used two blades.

“Come at me for everything which you have, Kappa… For I will come at you with all I have!”

“Well, I guess then I have no choice but to do that! Let me welcome you to the twenty first century!”

Both the intellectual Turtle and the samurai now rushed in towards one another. Jubei swung both his blades across, and Donatello spun his electro-staff and motioned it horizontally— the two weapons now colliding.

The third match between the Turtles and Team Samurai kicked off with an explosive start.

The next match up in the Mirage TMNT storyline has been posted and unfortunately... it had to be posted very late. Specifically around 11:30 PM on Sunday but at least it's been posted at the beginning of the new week but I won't be expecting it to be counted for until late in the night at Friday-- possibly early Saturday morning if we're taking to account the one to two hour time space which the system counts for the results. I spent most of my weekend hunting for houses, and dealing with other people's schedules, really can be a frustrating thing but none the less... the match is now here.

Writing out the match between Michelangelo and Galford was mildly difficult in that I tried to get some sort of flow going and I hope that I have captured it. I also tried to incorperate many of Galford's techniques into the recap and I most definitely had a lot of material to work with there. I mostly referenced the moveset which he had in the recent Samurai Shodown reboot game, and I think I did a fine enough job at doing that. Also, I was surprised to know that the match between Galford and Michelangelo was pretty close, so I also wanted to reflect that in the recap.

Now we have the match up between Donatello and Jubei Yagyu. Much like with Michelangelo, I feel that Donatello has been fighting more female opponents than male-- as he fought King, Momoko, B. Jenet and yet he's fought very few males-- them being Andy Bogard and most recently, Clark Still. I figure that he might engage in a match against another male character, and that ultimately had happened to be Jubei Yagyu. I think this might be an interesting match up.

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

Donatello (Mirage) is low tier superhuman in terms of physicals. Think Above Peak Human due to his mutation.

Jubei Yagyu is at Peak Human Conditioning due to his training.

Jubei Yagyu possess his twin steel Katana.

Jubei Yagyu possesses his moveset from the Samurai Shodown games.

I really vibe with this match. Good imagery and this story has evolved a lot so congrats on that.

I'll have to do more research into Jubei before I can vote.

Thank you! Out of curiosity, how has the story evolved?

I knew it was going to be Donnie against Jubei!

It had to be. I feel like Donatello has fought more female opponents than males, so after his matches with Clark and Nickelodeon Donatello, it had to be Jubei. Besides, I feel like Donatello has to be pushed for a breakthrough.

Thoughts on who wins?

Just plain phenomenal match by good ole RT!

Thanks! Who do you think will take this one?

Most of y’all should really check out the Samurai Shodown characters on YouTube before you vote. Because guys like Jubei have some pretty damn powerful attacks and the 2019 game graphics make them look faster and more deadly then the old versions.

I for one am leaning more towards Jubei for his deadlier and more powerful attacks, plus he’s got two swords on him and Donny’s only got a bo staff. Do y’all really think a wooden staff won’t be chopped in half by Jubei’s katanas?

Except... the set up explicitly mentions that it's NOT a wooden bo-staff, it's a metal (likely steel with a rubber grip) electro-bo staff which emits electrical shocks upon contact. I even have that mentioned in the set up post which mentions what the characters are equipped with. Donatello's bo-staff was destroyed in the fight with Andy Bogard, and I even had worked in the storyline that Donatello actually had to upgrade to a better weapon, specifically-- a metal bo-staff with electric capabilities.

Also, Donatello does have access to a few of his inventions-- especially the modified Roomba aka Doomba. I got the idea from Injustice 2 Donatello when he uses his Legendary weapon. It's a nod to that version of the character, and I see no reason why Mirage Donatello can't invent the same thing. You can see the Doomba in action here.

Finally getting around to commenting. My bad.

Another great set-up, Rakai. The recap with Mikey and Galford was very nice and intense. Both were able to show off their moves here and even some ninjustu stealth. And lol at how Mikey warded off Poppy! :D

As for the match, this may be yet another tough one. Jubei has some powerful moves, but Donnie has his inventiveness. With this being a ninja vs. a samurai, their prowess in each and experience against one other's arts in generally may effectively cancel out any ninja or samurai techniques they may try on one another.

Jubei has plenty of fighting experience, but Donatello's no slouch in that department, either ... I don't know. Maybe Donnie's youth may give him a bit of an edge in stamina in the end?

Also, you have plenty of time to figure out who could potentially win this one here! The match was posted at around 11:30 on Sunday, so it might not be accounted for until maybe late Friday night, early Saturday morning!

Damn this one was pretty close! The Turtles are really getting their work in with the Samurai Shodown characters!

Damn I've missed a lot lately, including this intriguing matchup. Well done as usual, RakaiThwei, but on the plus side of me missing this match is that I would have gone with Jubei. So, you avoided another tie thankfully.
