The battle couldn’t be more of a showcasing between two opposites and none more classic than the idea that it was a contest between brains against brawn. It was this very contrast which had so many focused eyes on it from both the Turtles and the remaining active members of Team Japan. Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael watched intently as their intellectual brother stood his ground against his lumbering and muscular opponent. Benimaru and Saisyu also watched his battle, knowing what Goro Daimon was capable of with his raw strength and the very damage which he could do with that sheer physical power against a smaller opponent like the one which he was confronted with. Shingo was coming around to consciousness as he now blinked, the lights in the warehouse momentarily blinding him until he squinted, allowing his vision to adjust only to now look ahead to see Goro and the Turtle circling one another and sizing each other up. Neither made the initiative, still observing each other’s defenses…

Until Goro decided to take the initiative as he swung his right and left arm across—intending on slamming his massive fists down onto the head of the red masked Turtle. Donatello quickly ducked underneath the incoming fists, only to then quickly retaliate as he then turned his staff over from right to left horizontally, firmly striking the electro bo-staff hard onto the large and muscular Judo fighter’s mid-section. Goro tensed up his muscles and he grunted when the metal staff struck him, feeling the strength behind the blow as he took it head on. Donatello spun his staff within his grasp and firmly planted the weapon onto the warehouse floor, and catapulted himself forward only to then snap his right leg out and firmly struck Goro in his mid-section. The Judo gold medalist grunted and stumbled from the kick delivered onto him by the Turtle. In retaliation, Goro Daimon dashed forward and he snapped his right leg forward and out, intending on hitting his opponent directly in the mid-section with his wooden geta. Donatello quickly side-stepped to his right and he brought the back end of the staff horizontally, again smacking the large Japanese man directly in his mid-section. Quickly, Donatello then followed up by spinning his metal staff and then brought the back end vertically down for the top of his opponent’s head but Goro raised his arms and crossed them above himself, now taking the brunt of the impact onto his forearms. Seeing an opening, Donatello then raised the back end of the staff up and thrust it forward— striking Goro with a strong jab as the blunt end of the weapon made contact with the Judo gold medalist’s solar plexus.

“GUH!”

Working to fight through the discomfort, Goro Daimon immediately responded by thrusting his right arm outward as he took aim for Donatello’s head and then swiped away at the Turtle as he swung his left arm, intending on blasting the Turtle with a mighty hook. The red masked intellectual Turtle then pulled his staff back and positioned it vertically, now using the weapon to push and divert the straight punch away from him as he turned. When the hook came in for him, Donatello quickly hunched and allowed the strike to pass overhead.

The red masked Turtle then had taken aim for Goro’s legs, now snapping his left leg across as he performed a low roundhouse kick and the Turtle managed to smack his foot onto Goro’s right leg. It was a lot like kicking at a tree trunk, but that was something which the Turtle had gotten quite used to and was strong enough to make the muscled Japanese fighter grunt. Donatello quickly spun his staff in a figure eight motion and shifted the weapon over from right to left. Taking aim for Goro’s mid-section, arms and shoulders— Donatello would manage to inflict several strikes onto the muscled form of his opponent. Already, several bruises were forming onto Goro and Donatello then quickly spun his staff and brought the back end up only to strike Goro directly into his chin.

This time, Goro had been quite staggered as a wash of pain now moved through his jaw. There was a taste of iron moving along his tongue. Moving his right hand to his mouth, and wiping it— Goro looked down to see a red stain mixed in with whatever saliva he had was left on the palm of his hand.

Donatello came running in towards Goro, tensing up his leg muscles and he pounced forward as he pushed himself ahead only to then snap his right leg forward and out as he took aim for the muscular man’s chest region. But Goro wasn’t having any of it—the Turtle had gotten away with too much as it is. He moved his arms and quickly took hold of the reptile by the leg, only to pull him in and firmly took hold of his shoulders. Goro then turned in a spin, only to now then slam Donatello flat onto his carapace, before heaving his weight up and turning once more only to toss him over head and sending him a good ten feet in distance as he performed one of his throwing techniques—Tenchi Gaeshi.

The red masked ninja felt a wash of pain moving through his shell as he had been slammed and hit the ground. He hadn’t felt this pain since… since he had been dropped out of that helicopter and his shell had been broken from the fall prior to being bonded with that cybernetic symbiote exo-frame of the mercenary which had tried to kill him. For a moment, Donatello pondered if he could feel anything. Pain was a good indicator of that. He was able to move his arms and legs… And so far his carapace held out. Nothing was thankfully cracked or broken. It was this moment he realized how his opponent was insanely strong to make him feel like that again.

“Okay… THAT’S unpleasant!” Donatello groaned.

Goro immediately rushed in as fast as he was able to do so, closing the gap between himself and the Turtle. Goro quickly then turned with his weight, only to move his right fist out as he took aim for the red masked ninja’s chest region to deliver a mighty impact. Widening his eyes, Donatello shifted his weight to his right and rolled out of the path of the incoming punch, and worked to fight through his own discomfort to push himself up onto his feet. Quickly, he swung his left leg diagonally upward as he performed a roundhouse kick, aiming for Goro’s head but the Japanese gold medalist raised his left arm and blocked the kick. Donatello spun his staff and planted it onto the warehouse floor, now cartwheel flipping back as he then raised his legs to deliver a mighty reverse somersault kick onto his opponent’s chin. Goro crossed his arms, taking the kicks onto his forearms and he quickly parted them as he threw them up. He moved his arms and aimed to grab hold of his opponent but Donatello, being the quicker of the two, hunched down and side-stepped to his left only bring the back end of the staff across as he swung it, striking the large Japanese man directly into his mid-section. Goro grunted and grit his teeth in momentary frustration only to then bring both his arms down, his hands clenched as he aimed to deliver an overhead hammerfist strike. The red masked ninja raised his arms, positioning his staff horizontally overhead and used the weapon to block the wrists of his opponent, but the strength behind the blow was enough to make Donatello buckle and fall onto his back.

Summoning the vast raw strength within, Goro tensed up his muscles and threw his arms up with his hands open. Goro slammed his hands onto the warehouse floor, causing the ground to crack and shake while also producing a shockwave that was strong enough to knock his opponent back. Donatello gasped, now losing his footing as he was sent tumbling back from the shockwave as Goro performed one of his unique techniques— Jirashin. The Turtle couldn’t help but wonder if he was at all suited for this battle and if Raphael was a better opponent for someone like Goro. More and more he was finding how strong this man could potentially be.

The Japanese Judo practitioner then rushed ahead before he leaned with his right shoulder, and dropped his weight—rolling in towards Donatello. When Goro had moved onto his feet, he quickly stood and raised his right arm, aiming to bring down his elbow onto the top of Donatello’s head. Again, Donatello raised his metal staff and gripped it firmly within his hands, and he could feel his muscles straining as he worked to resist the force of Goro’s powerful strike. Seeing his opponent down, Goro quickly moved his right arm out and took a firm hold of Donatello by the head only to then lift him off from the ground and heave him over head, only to then slam him down onto his carapace as he performed another technique of his— Kirikabu Gaeshi.

“AAAUGH!!” Donatello grunted as he writhed on the ground.

Goro raised his right leg up only to bring it down towards Donatello’s plastron, but the red masked ninja threw his weight to the right and immediately began to roll away from his superhumanly strong opponent. The Japanese Judo gold medalist continued to raise his legs and bring them down, aiming to stomp down onto Donatello with those wooden geta of his. And Donatello wasn’t going to be sticking around to experience that kind of pain.

Donatello repositioned himself onto his carapace and threw his weight back, rolling onto his feet and he turned in a spin and then swung his electro bo-staff for Goro’s ankles. The large man stopped himself from stomping and he quickly pushed himself to jump over the incoming weapon. That was more than enough time for Donatello to get some recovery time and perhaps get some attacks in.  Quickly rising to his feet once more, the red masked ninja twirled his staff and swung the back end of his staff downward for Goro’s head. Goro raised his left arm up and he took hold of the staff firmly within his grasp and he swung his right across, now striking the Turtle directly in his plastron, and Donatello was sent flying in towards the side of one of the few trucks which were parked in the warehouse. The mutant Red Ear Slider gasped as air now was forced out from his lungs, and he found his carapace slamming into the side door of the large truck, leaving a sizeable dent as he rebounded. He slammed down onto his chest, and firmly placed his forearms onto the floor.

Leonardo, Michelangelo and Raphael watched anxiously as Donatello seemed to be experiencing difficulties with an opponent like Goro. For all of their experiences in dealing with opponents who possessed a level of superhuman strength, perhaps this one might be too much for Donatello alone to face. The brothers couldn’t help but think of the Triceratons, Leatherhead, and even Officer Dragon— all of whom wielded strength similar to Goro Daimon. But this man was skilled and he knew how to properly utilize his strength. Despite this battle being a case of brains against brawn, Goro was anything but stupid and the Turtles knew this seeing on how he fought.

“Dude, any more of those powerful throws… I don’t think Don might be able to take anymore!” Michelangelo gave his two cents.

“That guy is STRONG! Probably the strongest guy we’ve ever come across!” Raphael said.

Leonardo crossed his arms as he continued to watch his intellectual brother working to push himself onto his feet and nodded at his persistence. Aside from himself, Donatello was the only other Turtle who had the hardest time in this tournament and he had experienced a breakthrough in his previous battle with Jubei Yagyu. If Donatello could get another breakthrough against a physically overwhelming opponent like Goro Daimon— then surely Donatello would become a better ninja and have earned the experience in dealing with enemies who possessed levels of superhuman strength. Leonardo remembered the brief conversation which he had with Master Splinter. Fighting other styles was crucial to their experience if they were to become better ninja.

Goro rushed at Donatello as the mutant reptile managed to get to his feet once more. The large man reached out with his arms, aiming to grab a hold of the Turtle once more but Donatello instead hunched and side-stepped to his left, managing to evade the grasp of his larger opponent. He pressed down onto the button on the center grip of his staff, and an electrical current flowed through out the metal weapon as lightning surged from the ends of the staff. Donatello then repeatedly thrust his staff out, intending on firmly jabbing Goro at his mid-section and chest. Goro was firmly impacted but then grunted in pain as each strike he was experienced left a stinging sensation onto him that lingered. Try as he might to flex his muscles to cope with the stinging pain, even someone like Goro Daimon wouldn’t be able to withstand such electrically imbued strikes. Goro had no choice but to back away from the red masked Turtle as he held up his arms to protect himself. Donatello then twirled his staff, and he thrust it down to the ground, causing electrical sparks to erupt at Goro’s feet. Daimon couldn’t help but jump as he was startled from the bright flash and eruption of sparks, and once again backed away.

Donatello quickly moved his left hand back, his right still holding his electro bo-staff and then moved his hand to his utility belt. When he felt one of pellets which he had been searching for, he drew the item out and quickly tossed at the Judo practitioner’s feet. A thick sheet of smoke wafted and spread about ten feet. Goro coughed as he inadvertently inhaled some of the smoke, and he moved his hands about to push the smoke away from himself. When the smoke cleared, the Japanese gold medalist grunted as he saw that Donatello… was nowhere in sight.

“Whoah! These Turtle guys REALLY are ninja! Maybe there’s something to these cosplayers than what we thought!” Benimaru exclaimed.

“I could’ve told you that. Ouch.” Shingo responded.

Goro moved all around the warehouse, looking for any sign of the red masked ninja. He had moved all around the parked trucks, looking even behind the cabs and the trailers. But there seemed to be no sign of his opponent’s presence. Surely, he couldn’t have left the warehouse. Goro furrowed his brows as he looked over to where the palettes of crates close to the trucks were, and there appeared to be no evidence of his opponent. Just where did his opponent go? He couldn’t help but ponder that…

Goro looked down as there was something which had bumped against his sandals. To his surprise there was a circular, flat device that had seemingly wheeled itself at his feet. He knew this device all too well, a common house hold appliance meant for cleaning floors. Confused, Goro just blinked at what he was seeing but whatever question which he had to why a cleaning machine was at his feet… immediately would be answered as the Roomba now opened a compartment at the top and a red beam of light now extended out, beating down onto Goro’s mid-section.  Multiple lasers were fired, and Goro couldn’t help but shield himself as he raised his arms but there was no protection to be had from the device. There was only one thing which he could do.

Run.

Goro quickly turned and began running as fast as he could, but the modified Roomba would roll after the Judo master. The Roomba moved in pursuit of Goro Daimon and continued to fire off more red lasers at the man, leaving red welts onto his skin. The pain could be compared to getting stung by Giant Wasps, and each shot made Goro grunt and shout in further discomfort and pain. He pushed himself to run faster in an effort to get away from the modified Roomba and the running would pursuit would persist for a couple more minutes.

Suddenly, there was a shimmer as it moved in front of Goro, causing the large Japanese man to stop in his tracks and when he had looked down, a set of three shurikens had been embedded into the concrete floor of the warehouse and Goro had to stop himself all while his backside was being met by the red lasers from the modified Roomba.

With the pain building up from the stinging and the exhaustion now getting to the Judo practitioner, Goro turned to meet the Roomba head on and he raised his right leg up and thrust it down in an attempt to crush the device. However, something would stop the large man from doing so— and a sudden pain moved directly into his head. Donatello had moved out from Goro’s blind side and struck him in the back of the head with the blunt end of his staff, causing the man to stomp onto the ground and miss his mark as he stumbled forward. Donatello quickly then had leapt forward and he kicked both his feet out as Goro turned to meet him, now slamming his feet directly into the large and muscular man’s chest. Daimon staggered, now moving back a few feet from the impact as the red masked ninja had dropped onto his carapace and flipped himself back up onto his feet. He continued the assault by spinning his staff in a figure eight motion, shifting the weapon from right to left and again aimed to beat the weapon down onto Goro’s shoulders, arms, mid-section and legs. The large man’s body was being firmly struck by the metal staff and the Judo master grunted out as the pain was only being piled upon, and he could feel exhaustion getting to him. In retaliation of this, Goro turned with his weight as he swung his arms across in two punches. Donatello raised his staff, blocking the wrist of the incoming hand and brought the back end of the staff down, striking down onto the shoulders of his opponent before he would then thrust his arms forward and pressed onto the button on the center grip of the metal staff. Electricity flowed and surged from the ends of the staff, shocking Goro’s mid-section as contact had been made. Further pain rushed into Daimon’s body and frustration boiled over.

Goro Daimon had enough.

He attuned himself to the energy which was inside of himself as he tensed and flexed all of the muscles within his body, drawing upon the vast raw amounts of strength from within. His eyes widened and Goro gritted his teeth as he now allowed that strength within to explode from within. His muscles exploded with this power, veins popping from his biceps as he raised his arms to grab a hold of Donatello. If he were to able to grab the Turtle, then Goro would be able to unleash his most powerful technique— the Kyotendouchi.

But Goro instead would catch nothing but air, as Donatello dropped and leaned forward with his weight only to now onto his carapace and slipped past Goro’s legs. Daimon turned and watched as Donatello then had planted his staff onto the ground and catapulted himself forward only to snap his left leg out, performing a vaulting side-kick. His foot made contact with the side of Goro’s face and Donatello managed to make Goro stagger. When he planted his feet onto the ground, Donatello turned in a full on spin and he swung his staff back across to the right and struck the side of Goro’s head with such speed and power. Goro felt a rush of pain moving through his head, and suddenly there was blackness and the last which he felt was a sudden shift in weight going down.

Donatello widened his eyes, staring down at his opponent and counted from ten in his head.

There was no movement coming from Goro. The match was decided.

Taking in several deep breaths of air, Donatello turned to meet his brothers as he now stepped in towards them. He was shaking from his nerves being rattled from such a difficult battle, but there was also a sense of pride as he managed to take down such a physically overwhelming opponent through sheer strategy and skill. As he made his way along to his brother, Donatello hunched and reached out with his hands, grabbing his kunai and the Roomba.

“Nice one, Donatello! Good work!” Leonardo nodded.

Benimaru couldn’t help but release a sigh of displeasure and then snapped his finger as he shook his head from side to side. Shingo had been eliminated, and Goro… now was down. This left only himself and Saisyu. The two remaining members of Team Japan just stared to one another, trying to figure out who would participate for the next match. Saisyu, merely only moved his right hand out, gesturing for Benimaru to do the honors.

“Well! I suppose it’s my turn next! It’s about time!”

The Turtles looked over to one another and began to figure who should go next. Michelangelo already took the first match and secured a victory. Donatello managed to claim a hard earned victory and was exhausted from the battle. This left only Raphael and Leonardo. The two brothers looked to one another and then stared over to the opposition. Leonardo couldn’t help but blink and raise his left brow in a quizzical manner.

“Yeah. I’ll take on Asian Jared Leto over there.” Raphael spoke out.

“By all means.” Leonardo responded.

Raphael stepped his way over towards the young Japanese man, and as he had approached him—he placed his hands together and bent them back, now bending them back to crack his joints. Benimaru simply raised a brow as he then moved his eyes up and down, sizing his opponent up.

“You must be very strong to come this far into the tournament! So please, don’t disappointment!” Benimaru grinned.

Raphael had moved his hands down, reaching for his twin steel sai only to grip them and he drew them out from within the straps they were often found in. Spinning his weapons within his grasp, the Turtle then snapped into his own fighting stance.

“Oh don’t worry, you’ll get your fight!”

Benimaru chuckled as he extended the finger on his right hand, now focusing a small amount of energy through it and manifested it as electricity. Lightning surged from his finger tip before dissipating. He ran his hands through his hair and stepped into his own battle posture.

“Then let’s make this electrifying!”

Raphael took note of the manipulation of energy which Benimaru produced. He had fought many who were able to manipulate energy like this, and seeing the kind of energy which his opponent produced… Raphael prepared himself.

Immediately, both Raphael and Benimaru rushed in towards another— kicking off the next match between the Turtles and Team Japan.

The next match in my Mirage TMNT Storyline has finally been posted up. I took the holiday weekend off because past experience from posting up CBUB matches during the Thanksgiving week usually has produced fewer responses as people are spending time with their families, so now that the time has past perhaps things can get back to normal as far as reader interaction and interest is concerned. Anyway, writing out the recap was differently this time as I started off a couple of days earlier and managed to have a good video for referring to Goro's movelist, that allowed me to work with his techniques in the recap as far as writing it was concerned. I feel like as if Goro's moves are fewer in comparison to many other KOF characters, and are quite simplified. So it was easy to work with. Also, the vote count between Donatello and Goro was so very close, that I felt like as if I had to write out the struggle between the two, so that was something I wanted to convey well enough.

I felt liek the next match should either have been Leonardo and Saisyu or Raphael and Benimaru, and naturally I went with this one. I feel like as if this one, the personalities between the two are so wildly different and writing out the interactions between the two was somewhat difficult but I think I did a fair enough job on it as it is. So that's something which... was a challenge in of itself. So I hope I did a good enough job on that one.

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

Raphael (Mirage ) is Low Tier Superhuman in terms of physicals. Think Above Peak Human due to his mutation and training.

Raphael (Mirage) possesses his Twin Sai, Shurikens, Exploding Shurikens, Smoke Bombs, and Kunai.

Benimaru Nikaido is at Peak Human Conditioning due to his training.

Benimari Nikaido has his moveset from the KOF games.

I keep getting outvoted but I'm just going to stay with it. Benimaur should win this. His powers can disarm Raphael and then put him down.

That's one for Benimaru. Although keep in mind, Raphael has defeated almost the entirety of Team Fatal Fury when he took out Joe Higashi, Mai Shiranui and Terry Bogard and he's learned to keep his anger under control.

Also he still has that high pain tolerance and has been known to push through pain.

Another great set-up, Rakai. Wow, that recap was fairly brutal. Both Goro and Donatello really took it to each other, and Donnie really had to use his skill and dig deep into his bag of tricks to get the win. He'll surely be sore in the morning, lol.

As for the match, Raph may have to watch himself against Benimaru's electric attacks and use of a style that seems to contrast Raph's a bit. Still, between his own aforementioned pain tolerance and being used to both chi attacks from fighters he's previously seen and faced, and knowing Donnie's own use of an electrical bo, Raph just might be able to pull this out.

Yeah, I wanted to convey a sense of urgency in the Donatello vs Goro Daimon match up. It definitely was something that I think Donatello definitely needed needed to pull out all of the stops for here.

Also thank you for your insight. By now Raphael should have a modicum of experience on how to deal with opponents who know how to use and manipulate their Ki based abilities fairly well. So good on you for pointing that out!

Hey Rakai, I apologize for the late reply, but I just finished reading through it, and I did appreciate the work you put into it and how you manage to keep crafting these matches in a way that continues to challenge each of the fighters to their max. As mentioned in this match, Donatello and Goro Daimon couldn't be more different as fighters much less as individuals, but the way that each of them is being challenged is more than beneficial for both fighters. Donnie is being challenged to act more stealthily and rely more on cunning, while also being a tech based fighter, while Goro is being forced to realize here that brute strength and fighting moves will only take him so far against most opponents, some are even more intelligent and strategically better than he is in a lot of ways. Again, both are winning here in terms of their personality and character if they take the positive aspects of their interaction in this match, in spite of who wins or loses here. Donnie is certainly going through an interesting character arc here to say the least.

Raphael will be challenged here too, but in a different way, as he will have to play this one a bit more defensively, and potentially try to find higher ground between him and Benimaru in the warehouse, upper floors and high stacked crates might be the way to go, but I digress there, as ultimately he'll have to close the gap eventually. I'm thinking that outside of dodging the electric attacks Benimaru can produce, Raphael will probably have to rely on his ninjutsu techniques quite a bit more to gain any real, potential advantage against Benimaru, and counter both his speed and his lightning in this fight.
