Raphael leaned back to evade the incoming swipe from his opponent, and when the next swipe from his right came in for him, the red masked ninja immediately hunched down and managed to avoid the incoming strike. Something which he noticed about his opponent was that he seemed to strike at him with not so much fist but attacks which were claw like in approach, and for a moment Raphael wanted to think that it was tiger style Kung-Fu but none of the techniques which his opponent utilized appeared to be consistent with the assumed style. Whatever Martial Arts Iori Yagami was trained in, certainly was quite unique to Raphael. The red masked hot-tempered ninja growled in frustration as Iori lashed out with a thrust which was aimed for his face, but Raphael leaned his head to the left—barely managing to avoid being struck. In retaliation, the red masked ninja immediately spun his sai and gripped them in reverse, only to turn with his hips and he thrust his arms in a quick succession of four thrust strikes as he aimed out for Iori’s mid-section. But the descendent of the now disgraced Yasakani clan weaved from side to side, managing to avoid the Turtle’s weapons. In response, he would lean forward and snapped his left leg out as he took aim for the mutant Red Ear Slider’s mid-section but Raphael crossed his arms out, taking the attack directly in his forearms. Gritting his teeth, the Turtle pushed his arms forward and utilized his weight to push back against Iori. Raphael rushed forward, only to push himself up and forward only to then snap his right leg out as he took aim for his opponent’s head but Iori would side-step to his right and evaded the jumping side kick.

“Hmph! Much too slow!” Iori smirked.

Raphael would land feet first onto the ground and the mutant Terrapin spun his twin sai within his grasp and then looked to his opponent. He quickly then turn with his hips and he thrust the pronged weapon in his left arm forward, intending on plunging the weapon deep for Iori’s stomach region. But Iori immediately moved his right arm up and to the side, pushing the sai away from him but Raphael would spin his pronged weapons and then immediately moved his arm down, aiming to bring the two sai down for Iori’s shoulders. Quickly reacting, Iori then moved his right arm up and used his forearm to block the Turtle’s attack by impacting against his wrist. Yagami moved his left arm outward and opened his hand, aiming to grab a hold of the Turtle by the neck. Raphael widened his eyes leaned back and he threw his body weight up and in reverse, now planting his hands onto the ground and he swung both his legs upward as he took aim for Iori’s chin.

Impact had finally been made and a wash of agony moved through Iori’s chin. His head snapped back and the descendent of the Yasakani clan was forced to stagger back from the blow. Seeing an opportunity to capitalize on the opening which he created, Raphael set himself to his feet and pounced forward. The red masked ninja then spun his sai and he gripped them in reverse, tucking them in his palms. Aiming for the middle of Iori’s face, Raphael thrust his right arm forward and smashed the blunt end of the sai handle into his opponent’s nose. Pain moved through Iori’s face, and he felt a warm rush moving down from his nose and onto his lips. The Turtle then followed up by swinging his left arm vertically, delivering a solid uppercut to Iori Yagami’s chin. Adding to this, Raphael would swing his right arm across and slammed the blunt end of the sai handle hard across Iori’s head.

As Raphael was about to deliver another blow, Iori widened his eyes and channeled the dark power within himself. Moving it through his entire body and focusing it to his right arm and hand— a purple flame manifested in his palm and he pushed himself forward and up, only to move his right hand up and created an arc of purple fire which moved towards Raphael. The Turtle widened his eyes and he found himself caught in the attack and felt the heat beating down onto him, and the mutant red masked ninja grunted and screamed as he had experienced Iori’s own 100 Shiki Oniyaki. Raphael was sent flying back and he slammed down onto the wooden bridge flat on his carapace.

“Hmph! Ha ha ha ha ha! You managed to land a strong blow, but it’s not enough for you to win if you even had a remote chance of taking this battle! Pathetic!” Iori taunted.

Iori quickly ran in towards the fallen Turtle as Raphael was recovering from the attack which he had been forced to endure. The red haired young man immediately then swung his right leg across, performing a roundhouse kick which was aimed for the Turtle’s head, and his foot managed to land onto the Turtle’s face. Connecting the blow, and moving with the momentum, Iori then continued by bringing his left leg horizontally—performing a spinning wheel kick for Raphael’s head again, and his foot would strike onto the ninja’s face.

Raphael dropped onto the ground once more, and he shook his head from side to side as he aimed to undo the pain which his head currently seemed to be experiencing. It was at this moment that Iori then went on the offense as he would then swipe his right arm diagonally down to the left, and followed by moving his left across with a similar attack. Raphael forced himself to rise, and he stepped back only to evade the first swipe, and leaned away from the second but Iori quickly lunged his right arm out, now grabbing a firm hold of the Turtle by the neck and with tremendous strength, likely granted by the tainted power in his blood, Iori would turn and toss Raphael forward.

The red masked ninja would fly off from the wooden bridge, and across the pond only to then hit hard concrete as he had landed flat onto his plastron. Pain would move through Raphael’s head and his body as he had never thought he would fight an opponent like this. But now something would flick in the ninja, something which he had worked hard to control over many sessions of meditation with Master Splinter. But as long as he controlled that flame inside, he would be able to draw strength from it and perhaps see this through. Planting his hands onto the ground, Raphael pushed himself to rise once more.

Iori then pushed himself off from the bridge, soaring across the air and then landed onto the hard concrete only to then rush right in at the Turtle again. As he drew closer, Iori Yagami quickly swiped his right arm diagonally down to the left, taking aim for Raphael’s face but the Turtle swung his sai in his right hand upward and parried the strike. Iori then had moved his arms out as he intended to grab Raphael but the neck with both hands, but Raphael immediately spun his twin weapons and swing his arms up and apart, blocking and dismantling Iori’s offense. Side-stepping over to his right and encircling around the Yasakani descendent, Raphael moved his arms out and wrapped them around Iori’s mid-section. Only then he would throw his opponent’s weight up and lean back with his weight, throwing Iori’s own body weight and slamming the young man down onto his back right on the concrete in a suplex.

“GUUUUH!” Iori gasped in agonizing pain.

As Iori slumped onto the ground, Raphael released his opponent and scrambled to go around him. And when he did, he quickly moved his arms and turned his opponent, now rushing to straddle onto him as he then once more tucked his sai in his palms. Drawing inspiration from watching whatever MMA and UFC fights which he had seen—Raphael would swing his arms down and across as he aimed to beat the blunt ends of his sai down onto Iori’s face as hard as he could, repeatedly. The Turtle wanted to make this son of a bitch feel whatever pain he inflicted.

Raphael would punch down onto his opponent relentlessly, and he raised both his arms and spun his sai handles—holding them right side up and then slammed the blunt ends down onto the face of Iori. His head throbbing in pain, his cheeks bruised and his nose bleeding from the beating—Iori widened his eyes and he channeled the energy inside to course through his very body and moved it through his left arm and hand. Opening his palm, a purple flame manifested and Raphael widened his expression in a surprised manner. Seeing this, he rolled to his left and removed himself from the infuriated young man. Quickly distancing himself and bolting to his feet, Raphael watched as Iori then flicked his left hand down and released the purple flame which seemed to be rushing at him, unleashing the 108 Shiki Yamibarai.

Raphael instead would side-step over to the left and avoid the incoming purple flame, watching as it would blade and scorch along the ground. Turning to meet his opponent, Raphael then would watch as Iori would come running at him again. If there was one thing which the ninja had to give the young man, it was that he was quite unrelenting. Iori snapped his left leg forward and out but Raphael moved his right hand down, slapping the weapon down with his sai handle  but Iori instead retaliated by turning with his weight and snapping his right leg out, which Raphael stepped back and batted down with the sai in his left hand. Turning in a spin to his right, Iori would arc his right leg across as he performing a spinning wheel kick and followed up by swinging his left in a spinning roundhouse. Raphael hunched down and leaned back to evade the kicks. Iori continued the assault as he then would move his right arm diagonally down to the right, slashing his claw strike for Raphael’s mid-section and followed up by spinning and he extended out both his hands, slashing them for the mutant red masked ninja’s face. Working to keep up with the pressure, Raphael then had crossed his twin sai in front of himself, blocking the attacks to the best of his ability. Taking strength from his growing frustration, Iori again directed the dark power inside of himself to flow—but this time, he willed the energy to make him quicker as he rushed in towards Raphael, and then swiped his left arm upward— effectively slashing the Turtle across his plastron before he then moved his right hand down onto the Turtle’s head, taking him down and planting him carapace first onto the ground. Channeling the dark energy within, Iori focused it on combusting, and now Raphael screamed as he found himself exploding from the purple flame.

“HA HA HA!! YES!! BURN, YOU FREAK!” Iori laughed as he performed his 212 – Shiki Kototsuki In technique.

Raphael could feel a new pain moving through himself, but if he was going to come out of this alive—he would have to do something drastic. The mutant Red Ear Slider turned his sai in his right hand, and he firmly thrust it down only to have the pronged weapon pierce through Iori’s shoe and into his foot. Pain shot up Iori’s foot and moved into his leg, and he was forced to release the Turtle, now causing the purple flames to die off. Turning and rolling on the ground, Raphael then splashed into the pond, allowing the water to soothe the burns and welts which he had to endure in that short period of time. But now the pain seemed to die off, as adrenaline would be released into his body and saturating his very being. Still, the water was none the less pleasant to feel.

Iori glared down to his feet and saw that there was a rush of blood seeping from his shoe and a pool of crimson now was forming around his foot. The red haired young man winced as he placed his hands onto his foot as he worked to endure the pain but even found it difficult to cope with.

Raphael slipped his twin sai into his utility belt and moved his hands to where his shurikens were kept. Upon finding them by feeling around, the red masked mutant Terrapin drew them out and set his sights on Iori’s arms and shoulders. Quickly, he would fling his arms and release his hands from the shurikens—and the blades were thrown, spinning right in towards his opponent. Iori then grunted and grit his teeth, fighting the pain as the shurikens would pierce and embed themselves into his biceps and shoulders. Quickly raising his arms to protect himself, Iori would feel more pain as Raphael continued to fling more shurikens at him. He could feel stinging pain moving into his forearms, and Iori unleashed a yell from within as he opened his palms, channeling the purple flames to manifest as he then released a volley of dark energy infused fire towards Raphael.

“YOU FREAK! YOU’LL PAY FOR YOUR TEMERITY OF CHALLENGING ME!” Iori furiously shouted.

Raphael quickly would move as quickly as he could, running across the pond and successfully evaded he incoming purple flames as they rushed along towards him into the water. They were painful enough to endure twice; he didn’t want to endure them again if he could help it. Raphael ran towards one of the Buddha statues that sat at the corner of the pond, and he ran up onto it only to push himself up and off— soaring right at Iori. Quickly, Raphael would snap his right leg out as he took aim for the red haired fighter’s face, but Iori would turn to his left and spin to move behind the mutant Red Ear Slider. Raphael missed his mark as he landed feet first onto the wooden bridge, and he turned to meet his opponent once more.

Iori then would move his right arm out and take a hold of Raphael’s left shoulder, burying his fingers into the Turtle’s muscle hard enough to draw blood. Raphael grit his teeth in agonizing pain, and he felt Iori yanking back—and flesh was torn. The Turtle’s blood dropped onto the ground, and Iori clenched his left hand into a fist, and swung it across to impact the ninja hard across his face. Following up with this, Iori swung his right arm up and impacted his fist into Raphael’s chin and followed up with another from his left, sending the Turtle upward. Without a moment’s hesitation, the descendent of the Yasakani clan catapulted himself up and forward—only to bring both fists down onto Raphael’s plastron as he utilized the 127 Shiki Aoibana attack. Raphael would collide with the Buddha statue behind him, and he crashed through it. Pain moved through his entire body and for a moment, he had thought that his shell was cracking but thankfully, it was strong enough to endure this kind of punishment.

Donatello widened his eyes in complete shock at the punishment which Raphael was being put through. He moved his right arm back and took hold of his electrical bo-staff. As he stepped forth, Leonardo moved his left arm out and barred his intellectual brother from taking this any further.

“LEO, HE’S IN TROUBLE! HE’S GOTTA BAIL OUT OF THERE!” Donatello shouted.

“Can’t interfere, it’s against the rules… You know how he gets if we interfere. You got that first aid stuff ready?” Leonardo inquired.

“Leo? What if… What if Raph doesn’t make it?” Michelangelo asked as he turned to look to his brother.

“He’ll make it… Raph’s tough enough to pull through. Damn stubborn enough as well.” Leonardo replied.

Raphael just shuddered in discomfort as he then rolled onto his plastron and firmly placed his hands onto the ground. He worked to push himself up but was finding difficulty in doing so. If he didn’t know any better, he was sure that he pissed off the punk who likes to run his big mouth.  The red masked Turtle had been through many tough situations in this tournament—from having to carry his team against Team Fatal Fury, and fighting all of these martial artist who seemed to utilize some super powers… This was perhaps the most difficult situation which he found himself in and all he could do was try and give it his best effort to maybe pull through.

And then there was laughter. Loud, booming laughter.

Raphael looked up and watched as Iori came moving in towards him, despite whatever injuries he seemed to sustain too. The Turtle had to admit, he had given as good as he received. If he was going to go down, then it would be going down swinging. A small part of him was quite satisfied with the injuries which he had left on his opponent. The beatings to his face, the sai to the foot— surely, Iori had to be hurting as bad as he was over here. But Raphael wouldn’t chuckle, or even so much as smirk. He wouldn’t give him that satisfaction. He would deny him that chance to know that he was still defiant and not allow him that pleasure to crush his spirit.

“I have to admit, you definitely were much more difficult than I thought but that was your mistake! Did you really believe that you had a chance at all?

Iori immediately swung his right leg forward, impacting the red masked ninja directly into his mid-section and Raphael was sent flying across some eight feet only to drop onto his side, hitting the ground with a dull thud. The mutant Red Ear Slider winced and he coughed as the air had been pushed out from his lungs. Had he been without his plastron, surely that kick would’ve done worse but it was painful none the less.

“Iori! You’re getting carried away now!” Chizuru sternly called out.

“This green freak had the audacity to land hits onto me and draw blood. He’s no one to blame but himself.”

Iori then concentrated on the dark energy within himself, now feeling it bursting through his entire being. Directing this energy to course through his arms and into his hands, he opened his palms and manifested the purple flames. He grinned sadistically as he glared to the red masked Turtle, and Iori chuckled as he prepared one of his most powerful techniques. The Ura 1029 – Shiki Homurahotogi. The red haired  young man then pounced forward and soared right in towards his opponent as he raised his arms and swung them down at Raphael.

However, Iori would widen his eyes in shock as Raphael immediately leaned forward and rolled underneath him, hitting nothing but air. After Raphael rolled underneath to evade the strike, and moved onto his feet—the red masked Turtle immediately kicked his right leg back as he arced it across, sweeping Iori off from his feet. The Yasakani descendent then found himself hitting back first onto the ground and Raphael immediately gripped his twin sai firmly within his right hand and he thrust it down, plunging the weapon deep into Iori’s right shoulder. It was at this moment that Iori felt something piercing into him and breaking his shoulder in the process. He gasped and grunted in discomfort and pain, and the red masked ninja then would scramble to move onto his opponent only to swing his arms across, batting his fists onto Iori’s head as hard as he could multiple times. And Raphael was relentless in all of it. And with one final punch, Raphael delivered a mighty impact onto Iori’s forehead.

Iori didn’t move. He didn’t laugh.

Raphael stopped in his assault and instead glared down at his opponent. He moved his right arm out and he gripped the sai embedded into the man’s shoulder and drew it out. He slowly pushed himself to rise to his feet, and stepped back but not once even dared to take his eyes off from Iori. Slowly, he counted down from ten.

No movement.

Raphael breathed a sigh of relief. As far as he knew, he had won but had to push himself past his limit in order to overcome what seemed to be a ruthless and insurmountable opponent. He stepped over to his brothers, but when he had distanced himself from Iori— he turned and kept eyes on the battered fighter.

“Raph! You might have over done it!” Donatello spoke.

“No, I’m sure he’s fine… Iori is a rather stubborn person. It’s certainly not the first time this kind of thing has happened to him. The power of Orochi infused in him allows him to be strong enough to survive.” Chizuru responded as she gazed over to Donatello.

Raphael moved stopped as he rejoined with his siblings. Donatello quickly motioned over to Raphael and guided him to where he would be able to work on whatever injuries which he had sustained in his battle against Iori. Taking out the medical kit and opening it, Donatello would quickly gather what he would need and work to mend his brother however he could. The hot-headed Turtle felt as if he had made a breakthrough in every way.

Aska moved over to the now unconscious form of Iori, slipping her hands underneath his shoulders and dragged him away. When she had gotten enough distance to put him at a spot which would be considered safe— she allowed him to rest flat on his back and took a moment to examine his own injuries.

“So it seems as if all of you are well trained, for two of you to defeat two people who are infused with the power of Orochi is nothing to scoff at. Very good… But we now must proceed onto the next match.” Chizuru announced.

“Hey, these guys are good… If you don’t mind, I would like to go next!” Kyo grinned.

“Very well, Kusanagi-san.” Chizuru nodded.

Kyo stepped forward and now eyed the four siblings. He took a moment to examine each and every one of them. They appeared quite identical and if hadn’t been for the weapons which they carried, he would almost say that it was difficult to tell them apart. When he had set his gaze on Leonardo, Kyo pointed to him and grinned.

“You were the one who fought and beat my old man! So that means you gotta be good! But just because you fought my old man, doesn’t mean that you’ve fought me!”

Both Leonardo and Kyo Kusanagi moved in towards one another. The two encircled one another, sizing each other up before they paused in their movements.

Kyo hopped on his feet, now then snapping into his own fighting stance as he clenched his hands firmly. Leonardo looked down to the sheathed katana that Haohmaru allowed him to borrow which was strapped on his hip and he immediately moved his right hand down and then gripped the handle of the weapon, now drawing out the sword. Moving his other arm, he took hold of the remaining ninjaken within his grasp, wielding both weapons.

Leonardo and Kyo nodded to each other as a sign of respect. A moment would pass until both took a step forward, now rushing in at one another.

The second match between the Turtles and the Three Treasures had begun.

The next match between the Mirage Turtles and the Three Treasures has finally been written up and posted. Writing out the recap between Raphael and Iori Yagami was relatively easy to do as I managed to find a good video source which showcased Iori's moveset and I was able to work with the references really well and transcribe them via description in the text. Also, I wanted to add in a level of brutality to it which reflected both how far Raphael and Iori would be willing to go, as I feel that canonically-- Raphael would definitely be pulling out all of the stops, and Iori has a level of cruelty which he sometimes displays in his own fighting style and how he presents himself in a KOF match up. If anyone recalls on how I wrote my Predator CBUB matches from a decade ago, you would recall a visceral feeling which I aimed to inject into this one however, no one here has died as characters often would in my Predator storylines from years prior.

I suppose this next match would be a predictable one on account of the fact that Leonardo has fought Saisyu Kusanagi, and while some people pointed out that Saisyu has experience but his age might have factored in, I would think that Kyo might be a formidable opponent for Leonardo since he has some experience in the KOF tournaments and also youth on his side as well. So I would think that Leonardo and Kyo might be neck and neck in this case, of course. I also wanted to present Kyo as being more respectful but still very confident in himself but not arrogant as I did with Iori. So hopefully that came off well enough here.

For new readers who are just hopping onto this storyline here, I suggest you look at the Mirage TMNT Respect Thread to see what the Mirage Turtles are more than capable of.

How you just 'gon put my boys against each other? I am so torn.

I had no idea that you were going to react like that!

Regardless, consider the last opponent whom Leonardo fought before fighting Kyo in the previous team battle.

Okay, I'll go with Leo here. Something I think gets underplayed even in the various comics and cartoons (let along here) is their shells. I don't know anything about turtles but I assume their shells don't have nerves so he can take Kyo's fire for a minute and launch himself hidden inside. I don't think they use their shells nearly enough.

On a side not, Rakai have you thought about posting your series on the various fan fiction site? I think people would get a kick out of the detailed fights you got. Get yourself some fans.

Well, as far as I know about Turtle physiology-- as far as normal Turtle physiology goes, Turtles and Tortoises DO feel when their shells are being touched. I mean after all, it is a part of them and is formed into their spine and rib cage. I do know that in the Image comics run of the Mirage Turtles (which has been deemed Non-Canon by TMNT co-creator, Peter Laird) is that their shell is formed with their rib cage and spine-- like a normal Turtle's.

As far as setting Turtles on fire... You know I actually saw... a VERY disturbing video of a teen girl trying to kill an endangered Gopher Tortoise in Florida, and this was all over the news outlets some years ago. She was taking the Tortoise, slamming it onto it's shell on the concrete (the shell didn't crack or break) and she tried lighting it on fire with a butane lighter, which... thankfully didn't catch the Tortoise a blaze. I NEVER want to see and recall a memory like that again. Mind you this doesn't mean that Turtles, normal or mutant are fire retardant, although I don't think that Kyo would go out of his way to KILL someone whom he has respect for. So he'd have to reign control over his flames, unlike Iori who just goes balls crazy with his Orochi fire.

But thanks for your comment here.

Another great set-up, Rakai. Sorry about getting to this one so late. I hope others get around to reading and commenting on this one as well.

Great recap with Raph and Iori. As you mentioned, the fight got properly visceral and intense. Iori seems just like the type to get aggressive and violent when his buttons are pushed, especially when the Orochi in his blood at least threatens to overwhelm him. Raph, though, is also the type to match that aggression when the occasion calls for it.

As for the match? Leo has a shot, but it's gonna be pretty tough. As I think I mentioned in Leo's previous fight, Kyo is probably on par with Terry Bogard in regards to skill and power.

Thanks for commenting and getting around to this match. As for the other readers, I don't think they're going to get around to it. This match conclude at around this afternoon and I am expecting for numbers to be REALLY low as far as votes are concerned. So I am a bit concerned for audience participation.

Yeah, for the recap I wanted to write up something visceral and violent. And I think I managed to achieve that but I also didn't want to go too far into it like I did with my Predator storylines.

Also thanks for the input and I think Leo's experience with Saisyu Kusanagi might help him out here too. Also something to keep in mind of.
