Flashing red and blue lights could be seen in all directions while first responders taped off the crime scene. Several civilians stood behind the tape and curiosity watching the emergency personal in the night prior to Halloween. One of those standing behind the yellow police tape was a detective that had seen his fair share of grizzly crime scenes over the years. At first the detective with the Chicago Police Department was reluctant to walked past the crime scene tape as he had just finished a grueling case, but there was an urge that burned within him to step forward. He let out a sigh as he dropped the bags of groceries that he was carrying on his way home, and steadily lifted up the crime scene tape. There were some uniformed officers that came to stand in his way, but the detective took out the badge that he carried with him day after day and flashed it before responding officers. The flashing red and blue lights shined off the badge and identification as the gravelly voice of the police sergeant spoke to the responding officers.

"What happened here?" Hank Voight asked with a piercing glare.

One of the uniformed officers had a grim look on his face. The seasoned detective could tell that this young officer was new on the force and that this was something that was all new for him. There was a slight chill in his voice as he muttered out what was discovered. "Multiple mutilated bodies that have been scattered throughout this building. Building appears abandoned. Right now, there are two survivors. Both are female; one is in her late 40's to early 50's. She is gravely injured, non-responsive but alive. The other is in her 20's. She claims that she was defending herself from the other woman. We have an ambulance on the way."

Hank had that cold stare on his face while listening to the young officer. With a slight nod, he stepped forward and started walking toward the building. He could feel the eyes of the city upon him as several bystanders watched from behind the police tape. In the back of his mind, Hank knew that the eyes of Chicago would be in this one with Halloween approaching. Voight knew that his superiors would be afraid that a serial killer would lay their claim on Chicago,  and with Halloween around the corner, that would bring a certain level of fear upon the Windy City. With the sirens of the ambulance fast approaching, Hank gazed upon a young woman with long curly hair. This young woman had bright blue eyes and bruises on her face. One of the younger officers pointed at her.

"That is one of the survivors. Her name is Brenda Bates. She took some hits to the face from the alleged assailant. The alleged attacker is still unconscious but has a pulse." The officer said while walking alongside the seasoned detective.

"And has she been identified yet?" Hank muttered with that same gravelly voice.

"Lindsey Wallace." The young officer quickly responded. "The victim says that she is a neighbor in her apartment complex."

Hank stopped for a moment and glanced at the young officer. He made a quick glance at the curly haired woman and sighed. The paramedics arrived on the scene and quickly loaded Lindsey into the back of one of the ambulances. Voight watched over her while she was being loaded into the back of the vehicle. He saw that her hand was handcuffed to the stretcher. He then glanced over and watched as the alleged victim was being led to another ambulance. There were no hand cuffs around her wrist as she stepped into the back of the ambulance. He let out a grunt as he gazed back at the abandoned building. There were several bodies being brought out and hundreds of thoughts that ran through his mind.

"Is everything alright, sergeant?" One of the young officer's asked with a puzzled stare.

"Something does not feel right here." Voight asked while taking out his phone.

Hank dialed in the numbers for one of the officers in his unit. He wanted to get the Intelligence Unit in on this as quickly as possible. With the eyes of the city, he needed to make sure that the real killer would not walk free. While the phone rang, there was a sudden blast that shook the ground. The warehouse had erupted into flames. Hank screamed for the young first responders to radio in for a fire truck. The seasoned officer glanced back and watched as the ambulances as already cleared off. In the pit of his stomach, he knew that there was something very wrong with everything that was occurring. The phone rang while Hank watched the abandoned warehouse become engulfed in flames.

"This is Halstead." The former Army Ranger answered the phone.

"Jay, I need you to gather the team. I think we got something big." Hank responded while gazing upon the fire. "Meet me at the station as soon as possible."

Hank hung up the phone and glanced at the younger officers. He gave them orders to preserve what evidence that they could. Voight then received word that both the survivors would be taken to separate hospitals. He gave orders to have both of them under police surveillance until they had gotten to the bottom of this. The seasoned head of the Intelligence Unit walked away from the burning warehouse. He heard the sirens of firetruck approaching and started cussing under his breath. He knew that it was going to be a long Halloween. Voight left his groceries on the ground and headed to the station. The eyes of Chicago were now wide open with a burning warehouse in the heart of the city and multiple homicides.

Voight ran up the steps of the station and walked through the doors as he had done so many times before. He walked into the Intelligence Unit and started writing everything that he knew on the board. Voight got every file that he could and waited for his team.

One by one, his team came into the station. The early morning rays of the sun brought Chicago to life. The first few members of his team that arrived had started their searches and investigations into what happened the night before. Voight was especially interested in the two suspects; the alleged killer, Lindsey Wallace and the alleged victim, Brenda Bates. His gazed over his team as they worked through files and searches.

"Hey Sarge, I just got word, that they have the alleged killer stabilized. She is still comatose but identification confirmed that she is Linsdey Wallace." Jay Halstead said while glaring at the seasoned officer.

"And the victims?" Voight asked.

"They are still working on that. The one that survived has some bruising to the face. ID confirmed that she is Brenda Bates. The other victims appear to be a mother and son, a male that appears to be in his mid to late thirties, and another male that appears to be mid to late fifties. There's no ID on them yet." Halstead replied.

"It was said that Wallace and Bates were neighbors in an apartment. Let's look there and see if any of the other tenets were involved." Voight ordered.

"I got some information on Linsdey Wallace. She recently moved from Haddonfield, Illinois." Kim Burgess said while looking through a folder.

"Where have I heard of Haddonfield?" Hank said with a puzzled look.

"She is a survivor in the Michael Myers' killing spree." Burgess responded. She then shook her head and rolled her eyes. "Both times, once as a child and then recently."

"Huh." Hank said while stepping back. "And Bates?"

"She was also a survivor of a murder spree that happened a couple years ago at a university out of state. She recently transferred to Chicago to finish her degree. Apparently, the killer in that was a close friend of hers. I also found that she was engaged once but he passed away in a hit and run before she started college." Hailey Upton responded.

"Let's look deeper into that." Hank responded with a suspicious look.

"Into what?" Hailey asked.

"Find out more about that hit and run, and about the killings at that university."

Hank looked over his unit. "Burgess and Ruzek, I want you to go to the hospital. Ask this Brenda Bates some questions. Halstead and Atwater, go to the apartment and see if you can find out anything about these ladies." He ordered while walking into his office.

The police sergeant looked over the files and had a feeling in his gut that something was off. While his team went out to conduct their tasks, Voight started to look deeper into the files for both Linsdey Wallace and Brenda Bates.

Meanwhile, Burgess and Ruzek went to the hospital where Brenda was being held. She had a mild concussion from her confrontation with Lindsey Wallace. In her head, Brenda practiced the questions over and over. She prepared for what the detectives were going to ask and had felt as she had her bases covered. The Urban Legend Killer had done this before and she knew that she covered her tracks in planting evidence in Lindsey's apartment. The two experienced Intelligence Officers questioned Brenda as they had done so many times before.

Through tears, Brenda told her story just as she had recited in her head. In the back of her mind, the psychotic killer knew that she had a loose end in Lindsey Wallace. As she answered the detectives' questions, she knew that she had to find a way to kill the comatose Lindsey Wallace before she could awake. A sadistic plan than came to her as if a light switch had flipped on.

While Ruzek and Burgess met with Brenda, Atwater and Halstead searched the apartment complex. They had received a call from Hailey that one of the victims was the supervisor at Lindsey Wallace's work, while the others were in fact tenants at the apartment complex. Halstead and Atwater went into Lindsey's apartment and found evidence that pointed to her. Halstead saw something that caused his eyes to widened. There were schematics for making explosives. In his years of service, Jay had seen this before and immediately called it in.

Hank looked over the files and listened to the testimonies that were taken. He then saw something that pieced everything together. Before he could reach for his phone, Upton appeared in his doorway.

"Brenda Bates is missing. There were reports of a hooded figure at the hospital." Upton said as she glared at Voight.

"Put out a BOLO and start searching all of her known locations. I am going to the hospital where Lindsey Wallace is being treated." Voight ordered.

Voight made his way to the hospital. His team was driving throughout Chicago in search for Brenda Bates and this potential hooded killer. Voight had his suspicions and walked through the halls of the hospital. He then saw a familiar looking woman with long curly hair and blue eyes. The woman disappeared into one of the rooms. Voight took out his pistol after hearing the fire alarms going off. He knew that he would have to stop this serial killer before she could finish what she started.

"Brenda Bates, I am ordering you to stop!" Voight shouted as the lights began to flicker. "I know what happened to your fiancé! I know what you did to those girls that hit him!"

"You figured it out, detective!" Brenda yelled with a sadistic laugh. "Have you ever heard of the Urban Legend about the cop getting chopped up into little pieces in the hospital?!"

Great set-up, Boratz. This really felt like a horror film and an episode of Chicago PD all rolled into one. :) It must also be a continuation of your Bates/Wallace match.

As for the match, Bates is definitely unhinged and tough, but Voight is arguably as ruthless and maybe as tough as she is. If this were the earlier seasons of PD, Voight might just waste the Noxzema girl and maybe even dispose of the body if he used questionable methods throughout. He's been developing a bit more of a conscience of late, though, so this one might be a close call.

Thanks DS! I was trying to go for a murder/mystery type couple matches hut that's kind of hard to do on a site like this. Then the Bates/Wallace ended up being a tie.
