News reports and headlines from across the country spoke about the arrest of the infamous Trinity Killer. His reign of terror that had spanned over three decades had finally reached its end. His trial was highly publicized as many tuned in to see the suburban family man sitting in the court room. For many men and women across the country, they saw an unassuming man who was being prosecuted for these unspeakable crimes. For others, they saw a wolf in sheep's clothing. After countless hours of investigative work from a joint task force that consisted of federal, state, and local law enforcement officers; they identified the nefarious serial killer as Arthur Mitchell. The middle-aged family man was seen by many as a pillar in his community. He was able to blend himself into his community as a high school teacher and community volunteer. Many that had come across him saw a soft-spoken individual that had also served as a deacon in his church.

After many painstaking hours and sleepless nights, the joint task force was able to link the Trinity Killer's murders to Arthur Mitchell. Once he realized that everything that he had built was collapsing around him, he tried murder the family that he had secretly abused for many years. Before he was able to carry out the killings, the Trinity Killer was arrested. He was taken into custody and put in solitary confinement until the trial. There were several that had gathered outside the courthouse to watch the trial of the century. The idealistic family man that had been a devil in disguise was been transported into the building where he would face a jury of his peers. He shivered at the signs that said "ROTT IN HELL!" or "JUSTICE FOR THE VICTIMS!" With his calm demeanor, he gazed upon the crowds. At first, he almost appeared frighten but then a cold smirk formed across his cheeks.

The trial was straight forward and a guilty verdict was passed down upon the Trinity Killer. Several weeks after hearing the guilty verdict, Arthur stood before the judge to await his sentencing. The judge declared that Arthur would be sentenced to death and the outside of the courtroom erupted with applause. Arthur's cold eyes stared upon the judge and then he gazed back upon his family. He watched as his family were led out of the courtroom while that same sadistic smirk formed across his cheeks. Arthur was taken away to be led to his punishment. In his mind, he thought perhaps this was God's way of punishing him. He had tried stopping many times in his life, but he could not deny what he truly was. He could not stop what flowed through his veins, and he could not stop the demon that lived within him. In his mind, he felt that this verdict was the will of God.

Sitting still in the prison transport, he closed his empty eyes and waited to arrive at what he thought would be his final resting place. As fate would have it, the prison transport drove through a harsh storm. The winds roared with a cruel rage and rain poured down. In an instant, the prison transport lost control and went off the road. The transport flipped over in a ravine, and Arthur fell against the side of the bus. His empty eyes found life as they looked upon the guard that sat in front of him. Arthur glanced down at the area that he was bound to. The guard fell down and rolled towards the Trinity Killer. Arthur was able to wrap his chains around the guard's throat and he felt the man's life fade away with a snap from the chains. Arthur was able to pull the key off the guard's lifeless body and freed himself from his restraints. In the chaos from the storm and the rising water, the Trinity Killer freed the other prisoners before the other guards could subdue him.

Arthur pushed himself out of the prison transport and swam away. He crawled onto the muddy ground and looked up at the storm clouds above. Several thoughts raced through his mind, but the one thought that rose above all the others was that this was his destiny. Arthur stumbled through the muddy ground and raced through the trees. He knew that it was a matter of time until the armies of man would he searching high and low for him. The Trinity Killer pushed himself through the devastating winds and the harsh rains. With each step that he took, he could feel the muscles in his body throbbing with pain. It was only a matter of time until he could fulfill what he was destined to do. Arthur Mitchell did not care how long it would take finish what he started. The Trinity Killer pushed himself forward with all the strength that he had. In his mind, it was not over yet.

18 months Later

Lexington, KY

With the rays of the sun beating down over the humid summer day, deputy U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens was enjoying a vanilla cone in his truck. The air conditioning in his truck was on full blast while he listened to radio in peace. He had received a call from Art that a pair of agents from the FBI were going to be meeting with their office later that day. Raylan was trying to enjoy some time to himself before he met with them. Initially, his fellow deputies Rachel Brookes and Tim Gutterson had joked that Raylan found himself in trouble again, but Raylan could not think of what he would have done to bring in the FBI. After finishing his ice cream, the Deputy U.S. Marshall turned off his vehicle and let out a sigh. He stepped outside and started walking toward the Marshall's office. He sauntered through the doors to his office and looked through the glass windows of the conference room. Inside the conference room, he saw Art and the team along with agents from the FBI.

Raylan rubbed his eyes and glanced down at his watch. He knew that Art would hound him about being a couple minutes late, but the Deputy U.S. Marshall did not care about that too much. Raylan headed over to his desk and threw down the files in front of his computer. He thought about scrolling through his emails, but he heard the conference room door open from behind. Raylan turned his head back and saw Art standing outside the door. His eyes were staring down Raylan with that same look he had seen many times before. Art shook his head and rolled his eyes. Before Raylan could make some kind of remark about how he was in the middle of something or he had a lot of busy work to start on, Art broke the short silence between them.

"Come on in, Raylan. You've got a lot to catch up on." Art said with tilting the conference door open.

"Am I in trouble?" Raylan asked while he started walking toward the conference Rion.

"Not this time." Art said with a half-smile.

After walking into the office, Art introduced the agents, "Raylan, this is Agent Walker and Agent Scott of the FBI."

Raylan put out his hand and shook the agents' hands. He then sat down in a seat while the agents brought him up speed on the meeting.

"Deputy Givens, how familiar are you with the Trinity Killer?" Agent Walker asked.

"Only enough to keep a dinner conversation going." Raylan responded with a slight smirked.

"As you may be aware, 18 months ago his prison transport had an unfortunate accident. The guards were all killed and the prisoners escaped. To this day, the FBI and the Marshalls have been able to capture some but not all of those fugitives." Agent Scott said while handing Raylan a folder.

Raylan started skimming through the pages. "Let me guess, you want us to help find this Arthur Mitchell?" Raylan muttered while dropping the file down on the table.

"We want you to help catch this, son of a bitch!" Agent Walker hissed.

"After his trial and escape, his family went into WITSEC. They have been moved every 6 months. Their last post was in Baton Rouge. The Deputy U.S. Marshall overseeing the case and FBI agent assisting him were found murdered." Agent Scott said.

"And you think it's this Arthur Mitchell?" Raylan asked.

"Mitchell used to stick to a ritualistic method in his killings. This was something else entirely. One of our profilers believes that Mitchell is plotting an endgame for he and his family. The rituals, the codes, and his methods are now gone. He is believed to be highly unhinged and unpredictable." Agent Scott responded.

"So why come here?" Raylan asked.

"The family was moved to Harlan County in their current post. We believe that Mitchell may have knowledge of this. We are also aware of your..." Agent Walker paused for a moment. "Your unconventional methods. We believe you might be able to help us stop this fugitive."

"While using the family as bait." Raylan responded sarcastically while he squinted his eyes.

"Deputy Givens, this man is highly dangerous. He is the very definition of evil. We are asking you for your help in stopping him here and now." Agent Walker replied.

"Okay... I'll help. Ill help you stop him, but the Marshalls office will get the credit for it." Raylan responded with a grin.

After Agent Walker and Agent Scott finished their briefing, they left the Marshall's office. Art ordered Tim and Rachell to keep an eye on the family. He then asked Raylan to meet with him in his office. Raylan followed behind his superior and watched as Art leaned back in his chair.

"Well Raylan, what are your thoughts on this one?" Art asked.

"This guy spent over 30 years undetected and under the radar. He is smart. I don't see him showing up one day on the front porch with roses and chocolates." Raylan responded.

"I agree." Art said while leaning forward over his desk.

"Then why did you send Tim and Rachell to stake out the house? The FBI will be watching that place very closely." Raylan asked.

"So we can keep an eye on the family and the FBI." Art responded while rubbing his eyes.

"What are you asking me to do, Art?" Raylan asked.

"They were right, you know?" Art chuckled. "You do have unconventional methods. They always seem to become a pain in my ass." Art said while shaking his head.

"They're usually justified though." Raylan muttered with a grin.

"Do what you need to do on this one." Art groaned.

"Are you okay, Art?" Raylan asked.

"This man killed a Marshall in Louisiana. He's killed a lot of people. Some of them were children. He needs to be stopped." Art mumbled.

"You got it." Raylan responded.

Raylan turned and started walking out of Art's office. "Where are you going to start?" Art asked before Raylan disappeared out of his office.

"You said it yourself, Art." Raylan smirked. "I got unconventional methods."

Art chuckled while Raylan left the Marshall's office. Raylan had taken the folder of the Trinity Killer with him, and got into his truck. He looked over the files, and then started his vehicle. As he drove away with the Marshall's office in his rear view mirror, he started making his way toward Harlan County. All of his current cases were slowly fading from his mind as he put his attention on finding this Arthur Mitchell. He vaguely remembered the headlines and the news reports about the Trinity Killer's capture. At the time, he did not think much of it. Now he felt as if the world was pressing down on his shoulders to put an end to this man's reign of terror. Raylan gazed at the road ahead and started his hunt for this fugitive.
