As Rose Bernstein and Karin Kanzuki were going back and forth about who to invite to their joint sponsored Capcom vs. SNK tournament, several fighters weren't waiting on their invitations before taking action. Brian Battler and Lucky Glauber of the American Sports Team from the 1994 King of Fighters tournament arrived in Brian’s car in the parking lot of Gorin High School.

“I don’t know man,” said Lucky. “I got to say I think we should have listened to Heavy D. We shouldn’t be coming over here to the Capcom side.”

“Nonsense, this is exactly where we should be,” stated Brian.

They two men exited Brian’s car and made their way to the fields in the back of Gorin High.

“Are we really about to step to some high schoolers?” Lucky protested. “We don’t even know these kids.”

“Think about, Lucky. We only participated in one King of Fighters tournament, right? We kept getting invitations after that but we never made it, why?”

“We kept getting jumped and having our invitations stolen. We got jumped by those Orochi guys and Iori and those rivals guys,” Lucky replied.

“What does that tell you?” asked Brian.

“That we need to always stay on guard,” guessed Lucky.

“Well, yes, but also that we are popular with the people. The people want to see us. and they are being denied that every time by someone trying to get the jump on us. So, this time we need to strike first,” Brian declared.

“Why do you think these Gorin High kids would attack us for invitations? We don’t even have invitations for this Capcom vs. SNK tournament yet,” Lucky pointed out.

“Because we are being proactive. Who do you think would benefit the most by taking us out?” Brian posited. “Another team of sports themed fighters desperate to get some long overdue recognition, perhaps.”

Lucky shrugged. “Well, when you put it like that.”

“The way I figure it, even if they are not thinking about doing it now, if we beat them here and now they won’t ever even think about trying it later. A win win,” Brian declared.

At this point the two men had reached the baseball diamond on campus and saw their two targets, star baseball player and brawler, Shoma Sawamura, and Volleyball captain and fighter, Natsu Ayuhara, standing alone by themselves.

“Ah, we’ve found you,” Brian announced.

Shoma was confused. “You were looking for us? Where else would we be?”

“Who are you?” Natsu inquired.

“I am Lucky Glauber and this is Brian Battler.” Lucky pointed to his teammate.  “And we.. uh are here to challenge you.”

“To a game or a fight?” asked Shoma.

“A fight,” Brian responded.

“No way. You guys look way too old to still be in high school. What school are you from? Are you coaches?” Natsu inquired.

“No. We are from the King of Fighters American Sports Team, and we are her to take you down before you try and attack us for our invitations to the new Capcom vs. SNK tournament,” Brian declared.

“Invitations we have yet to receive I should say,” added Lucky.

“What are you two on about? Why would we attack you, we don’t even know who you are,” stated Natsu.

“Although it would be really cool to get invited to that tournament. Everyone in school is talking about it and It’s been a while since I’ve been able to show off my moves,” said Shoma.

“I knew it,” Brian accused. “Face me now and show me what you’ve got.”

Shoma picked up his bat. “This whole thing seems a little weird but If you’re really here looking for a fight, I’ll give you one.”

Brian smiled. “Great. You and me one on one.”

Lucky pointed at Shoma’s bat. “Are you really going to use that in this fight? That doesn’t seem fair.”

“I always use my bat in fights,” Shoma responded.

“Don’t worry about it, Lucky. I’m not intimidated,” stated Brian. “Bat or no, we all know that football players make for better fighters than baseball players. This will be no sweat.”

Shoma gripped his bat tight. “We’ll see about that.”

I never actually played Rival Schools but I was always drawn to that dude with the baseball bat.

Seems to me a few good homerun level slugs will put Brian down.
