Match 20714 Rip (No Holds Barred) vs. Thunderlips

GORILLA MONSOON: Hello ladies and gentlemen and welcome to CBUB Championship Wrestling. This is our premiere show where we will start a tournament to crown our first ever heavyweight champion. Joining me on the broadcast is the Brain, Bobby Heenan.

BOBBY HEENAN: I am going to need a raise for participating in this, Monsoon.

GORILLA MONSOON: And also joining us for this first round matchup on commentary is the Macho Man Randy Savage.

RANDY SAVAGE: Ooooh yeah, dig it! The Macho Man is happy to be here for this inaugural event, yeah.

GORILLA MONSOON: Sixteen wrestlers from across the database have been selected to compete in this single elimination tournament to win the ultimate prize, the CBUBCW World title.

RANDY SAVAGE: I can’t wait to see who is partaking in this tournament, ooh yeah, I’m itching with excitement.

GORILLA MONSOON: I know you aren’t the only one, Macho Man, so let’s send it over to Howard Finkel in the ring to announce the wrestlers competing in our very first match.

Howard Finkel stood in the middle of the ring as a microphone was lowered to him.

HOWARD FINKEL: Welcome everyone to Madison Square Garden and to the first round of the CBUBCW championship tournament. The following contest is set for one fall. Introducing first, a former heavyweight champion, listed at 7’0 tall and 390 pounds, accompanied to the ring by his “love slaves”, Dora, Doreen, and Daphne. He is Thunderlips.

Thunderlips walked slowly to the ring, pausing often to bask in the boos from the crowd, in a long red robe and a white hat accompanied by his valets.

GORILLA MONSOON: One of the most famous events Thunderlips was a part of before tonight was an exhibition match against the boxer, Rocky Balboa. He incited that crowd by tossing around a beloved athlete half his size.

BOBBY HEENAN: I think you mean excited the crowd, Monsoon. Thunderlips was doing a brave thing standing up to that swindler, Balboa.

GORILLA MONSOON: Swindler? How did you reach that conclusion?

RANDY SAVAGE: There’s something about him… I don’t know… I just don’t like it. I think it’s the cut of his jib. Reminds me of someone that makes me angry, yeah.

Thunderlips entered the ring and lifted his arms triumphantly in the air.

HOWARD FINKEL: And now introducing his opponent, from Miami Beach, Florida, the former World Wrestling Federation Champion, Rip Thomas!

Rip Thomas stepped through the curtain with a blue tank top, blue trunks, a white bandana, and a big smile on his face. He posed for the crowd as he made his way to the squared circle.

BOBBY HEENAN: What’s going on here, Monsoon? Did you spike my drink? I am seeing double.

GORILLA MONSOON: I would never do such a thing. And yes they have some physical similarities, yet the two men competing in this match couldn’t be more different. Rip spends all his free time being a hero to children the world over and helping out charities.

BOBBY HEENAN: Maybe someone spiked your drink. Thunderlips’s fight against Rocky was for charity, how does that make them different? 

GORILLA MONSOON: It’s all in the personality and how they present themselves, Brain. And for our viewers at home who may feel confused, yes, Rip Thomas was World Wrestling Federation Champion in a world slightly different than ours depicted in the movie No Holds Barred.

RANDY SAVAGE: I never had the pleasure of wrestling the man, but I did once team with his rival, Zeus, when our two worlds collided like stars in the night exploding into the sun and rippling out in vicious combat, oh yeah!!!

GORILLA MONSOON: I have no idea what you are saying right now.

BOBBY HEENAN: Don’t be insulted, Savage. He just doesn’t have the brain capacity to understand.

GORILLA MONSOON: There is no time to worry about any of that now, our first match is about to get underway.

Thunderlips grabbed the microphone from Howard Finkel.

THUNDERLIPS: Thunderlips is here baby. Feast your eyes on the ultimate male! I’m going to break that nobody in two.

The audience cheered on their hero, Rip Thomas, and chanted Rip ‘Em, Rip ‘Em.

BOBBY HEENAN: What are they saying? Rip off”? I usually don’t agree with the peons but…

Rip Thomas tore off his tank top and rushed Thunderlips who had just taken off his robe.

GORILLA MONSOON: Rip Thomas really wants that CBUBCW championship belt.

BOBBY HEENAN: What are you talking about? He is just showing his true colors as a cheap shot artist.

RANDY SAVAGE: I have to admit the Macho Man is a little unsure who to root for in this match.

Thunderlips in his white trunks and Rip in his blue trunks traded blows in the middle of the ring as the opening bell officially sounded.

Good set-up, Johnny, and good continuation of your CBUB Championship Wrestling arc. 

And as for the match, Hogan rushes in and finishes both Rip and Thunderlips with the big leg drop.  

But yeah, while I haven't watched Rocky III yet, I seriously doubt Thunderlips pulled off the feats Rip did in No Holds Barred. I'm leaning towards Rip in this one.

Well Rip was the main protagonist of his film and Thunderlips was a mere side character so I’m leaning Rip.
