Katarina Alves boarded a plane traveling from her native Brazil to Peru. When she took her seat she lifted her red-tinted glasses and perched them on her head. Some other passengers on the plane attempted to make small talk with the beautiful bruiser, but she had no time for them.

Her mind was on the seventh King of the Iron Fist tournament, a fighting tournament that she had participated in. She had gone there looking for answers about her missing adoptive father. The tournament was closely connected to Mishima Zaibatsu and the G Corporation. Katarania was convinced that the G Corporation was connected to her father’s disappearance.

During the tournament, Katarina had found herself face-to-face with Gigas, a towering, crimson-skinned brute who seemed completely detached to whatever humanity he had ever possessed.   Except for his eyes. They were cold and tormented but Katarina noticed something very familiar about them. Katarina’s fists clenched as the memory flooded back. She couldn’t shake the feeling that he was connected to her missing adoptive father. Those eyes, the way they looked at her, it was like he was trying to tell her something without words. She couldn't admit it to herself, but in the back of her mind, she feared the worst, that Gigas could somehow be her father, twisted by G Corporation's experiments.

She shook her head, trying to not dwell on that possibility . No matter what, she needed answers, and G Corporation was the key. When she heard that Kazuya Mishima was hosting an eighth King of the Iron Fist tournament in Rome’s Colosseum of Fate, Katarina knew it was her second shot to get in close. But her hope quickly turned to anger and exasperation when she realized she hadn’t been invited and that she missed it completely.

Kazuya’s announcement had been full of bravado, promising that every country would have a chance to represent themselves and prove their country’s worth. And yet, there was no Brazilian competitor on the roster. Katarina pulled out the tournament’s event guide from her pants pocket. She scanned the list of participants. She saw the familiar names of fighters she respected and knew to be formidable. But as she scrolled further, the frustration began to sit in at the sight of two names, Panda and Kuma. Two spots wasted on bears.

But the name that infuriated her most was Azucena Ortiz. The so-called “Coffee Queen of Peru” had entered the tournament simply to promote her family’s business, Ortiz Coffee. It wasn’t about honor or competition; it was a marketing ploy. Katarina crumpled the guide in her fist as her fury bubbled to the surface. Azucena had taken a place that could have been hers, a place that could have brought her closer to G Corporation and the answers she so desperately sought.

Hours later, Katarina found herself stepping off a dusty bus on the outskirts of the Ortiz Farm in Peru. She walked with purpose to the farm and began her search for the object of her anger.

“Azucena!” she shouted.

The nearby alpacas lifted their heads, startled, but quickly resumed chewing on the grass. Katarina’s patience was already wearing thin.

After a few moments, a figure appeared on the horizon and walked toward Katarina with a confident strut that bordered on arrogance. It was Azucena Ortiz.

The Peruvian martial artist smirked and crossed her arms as she approached Katarina. “¿Viniste hasta aquí solo para conseguir una muestra gratis de mi excelente café?”
(“Did you come all the way here just to get a free sample of my terrific coffee?”)

Katarina’s voice was laced with frustration and resentment. “No vine aquí por tu maldito café.” (“I didn’t come here for your damn coffee.”) Katarina’ pointed at Azucena. “Quiero saber cómo obtuviste una invitación al torneo King of the Iron Fist.”
(“I want to know how you got an invitation to the King of the Iron Fist tournament.”)

Azucena’s smile remained despite Katarina’s tone. “Gané un torneo preliminar para representar a Latinoamérica.” (“I won a preliminary tournament to represent Latin America.”)

The answer caught Katarina off guard and only added to the anger boiling up inside her.  “¿Y por qué no me invitaron a mí al preliminar?”
(“And why wasn’t I invited to the preliminary?”)

Azucena raised an eyebrow, and shrugged nonchalantly. “No sé, cariño. Quizás no estabas en la lista.”  (“I don’t know, darling. Maybe you just weren’t on the list.”) She glanced around at her product laid out on nearby tables. “Además, el torneo fue una excelente oportunidad de exposición para mi compañía. Gracias a eso, mi negocio está floreciendo.”
(“Besides, the tournament was a great opportunity for exposure for my company. Thanks to it, my business is booming.”)

This was exactly what infuriated Katarina. While she was fighting for answers and for her future, Azucena was treating the tournament like a commercial.

“¡Eso debería haber sido yo en el torneo!” Katarina remarked bitterly. (“That should have been me at the tournament!”)

Azucena remained unfazed. “¿Y qué quieres que haga? No soy yo quien organiza los eventos.”
(“And what do you want me to do? I’m not the one organizing the events.”)

Katarina snapped. “Pelea conmigo. Ahora. Demostremos de una vez por todas quién merece estar ahí.”
(“Fight me. Now. Let’s prove once and for all who deserved to be there.”)

Azucena glanced over at the alpacas, then back at Katarina. “Lo siento, pero no tengo razones para pelear contigo.”
(“Sorry, but I have no reason to fight you.”)

Katarina’s eyes darkened and she turned her gaze toward the nearest alpaca. “Si no peleas conmigo, tal vez mis patadas Savate encuentren otro objetivo…”
(“If you don’t fight me, maybe my Savate kicks will find another target…”)

Azucena’s playful demeanor quickly vanished and was replaced by a fierce protectiveness for her farm’s alpacas. “No te atrevas.” (“Don’t you dare.”)

Katarina was resolute. “Entonces pelea conmigo.” (“Then fight me.”)

I think Katarina wins. Azucena is the most fun new character (I watched a lot of videos with her just dancing the whole match) but Katarina is a bit more polished and aggressive. Azucena's dance brakes (fun as they are to watch) will take away her combat mojo.

Good battle of the vivacious Tekken Latinas, Johnny. You seem to have their personalities down pat.

As for the match, both women are aggressive, creative fighters, but Katarina seems to be more motivated, both in commitment to combat training and getting into the King of Fist Tournament. I'd have to agree that Katarina might beat Azucena in a tough fight.
