Match 21003 Qrow Branwen vs. Snake Face

Previously: The Snake Men have been terrorizing many worlds via the Stargates. Ronon Dex encountered them while still being hunted by the Wraith. The Snake Men defeated the Wraith and took Ronon as an addition for their feast. While captive, Ronon learned of the Snake Men’s plans to awaken the snake god- Serpos.

 

 

 

Qrow was not happy. The tales of these snake men and their raids horrified him. There was talk of them eating people. Inspecting old sites and finding no bodies strengthened the accusations.

As a huntsman it was his duty to protect people from evil. He had been trying to catch up to these snake men for two weeks.

Then he found them. A small party had just pillaged a village and were returning. Qrow followed them.

The Snake Men had never heard of the Wraith. Not surprising as all of their captives were consumed. They never got to talk about anything. So when Tung Lashor and his companions overcame a three man hunting party The just assumed they were a rare alien species.

The man they were hunting was Ronon Dex. The Wraith sometimes amused themselves by setting captives loose with a tracking device installed inside their bodies and then chasing after them at their leisure. Ronan had survived quite a long time. Unfortunately his hunters were vanquished but he was now the captive of the Snake Men who killed them.

They actually went through a stargate to reach their camp. This world- or at least this region of this world- was mountainous.

It made it both harder and easier for Qrow to tail them. He could hide better but he could also loose track of them he let them get too far ahead.

Their camp, as far as he could see. Populated a good hundred snake men. Many of them just loitered.

The fresh captives were dumped in a cage where all could see. Some twenty doomed individuals.

Qrow began forming his plan. Top priority was helping the prisoners. But he would need to keep the Snake Men occupied or else none of them would get away. He was a realist enough to know that he couldn’t save everyone.

As he watched, The Snake Men began to gather. It was beneficial in one way and not so much in another way.

The plus was that they left the prisoners unguarded. The negative was the Qrow really wanted to know what drew them. Innocents first.

He crept in, hoping none of the people got too excited at the prospect of being rescued. Everything got quiet and he could hear a bit of what was going on with the Snake Men.

“We will awaken Serpos! And take everything!”

Someone was giving a speech. This was great intel. But he couldn't waist this opportunity to free the prisoners. He began opening the cages, ushering the people away from the gathered Snake Men. Then he heard the word declaration ever.

“And now we will feast!”

They were coming to get the prisoners. There were still two cages left. Qrow considered cutting his losses but couldn’t live with that decision.

He hid as a few snake men were approaching and allowed compassion to overtake him emerging, freeing the captives. He would hold the snake men off while the captives escaped.

Due to surprise attack two of the three fell without a fight. But the third had enough time to brace for a scuffle. Others were coming but if Qrow could put this one and with draw. He could escape with the captives that he freed. But, if this act of heroism was his last, then so be it.
