JohnnyChany
A village burned beneath the onslaught of the Yuan-Ti. A small army of a variety of their breeds lay waste to everything in sight. Only two warriors, the humanoid Tiger thief, Rei and the winged princess of Wyndia, Nina, stood in their way. The duo fought desperately to defend the villagers, which included the last remnants of the Brood clan, or at least buy enough time for them to flee into the mountains. Rei bared his fangs and slashed through an Abomination breed Yuan-Ti, a hulking, snake-headed creature with muscular arms and an unnaturally twisted torso. The Abomination hissed and recoiled as Rei’s claws sliced deep into its hide. From behind Rei he was stabbed by a knife dripping with poison from a Pureblood breed Yuan-Ti. “They just keep coming!” Rei shouted. The thief ducked under the Pureblood’s follow up attack and knocked it away, though he could feel the sting of venom working its way through his blood. Nina hovered in the air. Her wings beat furiously as she summoned a spell. Icicles formed and shot down into the throng of Yuan-Ti below. The spell scattered some of them, but a handful of the thick-skinned, broad shouldered, Broodguard breed Yuan-Ti, powered through the icicle barrage and swung their spiked clubs at Nina. “We can’t hold them off forever!” she cried. Nina glanced at Rei as he staggered back from a new wave of attacks. Rei gritted his teeth. “We don’t have to. Just long enough for the villagers to get clear.” Rei and Nina fought bravely long enough for the remaining villagers to retreat to safety. But eventually, they were overwhelmed. The Yuan-Ti bound them and dragged them away, barely conscious. “I hope Ryu and Garr are having better luck than we are,” Nina said weakly. Meanwhile, Ryu, one of the last remaining members of the Dragon Clan, also referred to as the Brood, and Garr, the Guardian created by the god Myria, with the purpose to destroy the Brood, stood within the dimly lit halls of a stone temple. In the face of Ryu’s powers and heroics, Garr had recently turned away from his created purpose. Still there was some awkwardness between them that was heightened by the goal of this trip to the temple. “You think Myria might know something about this invasion?” Ryu asked. Garr nodded. “If anyone knows the origin of these alien creatures, it would be God. She’s a god for a reason, I assume she would have knowledge of other realms. If we are to defeat these snake creatures, we should seek her wisdom.” Ryu’s gaze hardened. “The same wisdom she handed down that convinced the Guardians to wipe out my people?” “Yes. But if we are only seeking wisdom for battle, we should be fine. We know who the villains are.” Just then, a voice echoed around them. It was a voice filled with both anger and amusement. “Seeking Myria, are we? How... misguided.” Both Ryu and Garr spun around to see an ethereal image of a figure forming in the dim light: It was a human woman with long blue hair. “If you’re looking for answers to stop the Yuan-ti, you won’t find them with her,” she said. “Release me, and I will show you the way.” Ryu glanced over to Garr, who looked troubled. “Do you know her?” Ryu asked. Garr frowned. “Deis is an ancient being. She appeared 500 years ago to dissuade the Guardians from their extermination of the Brood. God convinced the Guardians to imprison her here, beneath Angel Tower.” Ryu nodded. “I think I will like her. And, if she is offering us help we are no in position to turn it down.” They journeyed to the depths of Angel Tower, and there they found Deis, encased in a pyramid of energy. She stood there, naked, her blue hair cascaded down her shoulders. Garr took a deep breath and stepped forward. He released the magic that held her confined. The energy field dissipated, and Deis stepped free, She promptly smacked Garr across the face. “That is for imprisoning me in the first place, you big idiot Guardian.” Garr, taken aback, could only bow his head. “I apologize. We were deceived by God, convinced the Brood was a threat.” Deis scoffed. “Yes, and now thanks to that mistake, the Brood is nearly extinct.” She turned her gaze toward Ryu and walked toward him. A softness entered her eyes. “Little Dragon… if you don’t want to be the last of your kind, we have work to do. There is much to discuss but we must start moving.” She stepped back and allowed her form to shift. Her body elongated and her skin rippled into scales as she transformed into her true, serpentine self. She took note of Ryu’s surprise. “Disappointed?” Ryu shook his head, doing his best to keep his composure. “Not at all.” They made their way down the path from Angel Tower, but their journey was soon interrupted as a group of Yuan-Ti warriors emerged from the underbrush. Deis laughed, She raised a hand that crackled with power. “You want to see what a real goddess can do?” With a flick of her wrist, she sent a bolt of lightning through the air and struck down one of the Yuan-Ti Abominations. Deis released spells that scorched the earth around her, and blasted several Yuan-Ti Purebloods back with a wave of energy. Ryu and Garr joined the fray. Each fought off the Purebloods and Broodguards with their own power, Ryu with his dragon form, and Garr with his spear. As the last of the Yuan-Ti warriors fell, Deis paused beside a statue of the god Myria. The statue depicted Myria as a beautiful blonde woman with a serene expression upon her face. Deis addressed the statue directly. “You won’t succeed, Myria. Your new pets will fail you.” Garr looked at her, confused. “What do you mean? God is the one bringing the snake creatures?” Deis smirked and she glanced at him with a hint of pity. “Yes, to finish the job you Guardians couldn’t. Myria has always had a way of persuading others to do her dirty work.” “But the Yuan-Ti have been attacking more than just the Brood…” Ryu interjected. Deis raised an eyebrow. “So naive, Little Dragon. Myria needs the Brood gone for the ‘good of humanity.’ But now, she’s clever enough to know openly calling for your extinction no longer looks good. So she brought the Yuan-Ti in, hoping they’d eliminate you in her place. Then she’ll ‘save’ the humans from them and regain her status as the benevolent god everyone loves.” “How could she get them to serve her like this? Surely they would realize they are being used.” “Myria’s always been persuasive… and manipulative. Trust me, you two have no idea who and what she really is.” Elsewhere, in the heart of her realm, Myria’s beautiful face twisted in anger as she received word of Deis’s freedom. Her form shifted from the blonde woman she displayed for the world. Serpentine scales emerged as she reverted to her true self. The bottom half of her body became snake like and the majority of her arms transformed into wings. Seething, she reached out across dimensions and summoned the high cleric of the Yuan-Ti. “I need more warriors,” she commanded. The high cleric’s voice hissed in return. “Our deal was clear, goddess. Our god Merrshaulk has yet to awaken.” Myria forced a pleasant, motherly tone into her voice. “And has my magic not already begun to stir him?” “It has,” the cleric admitted, “but not fully.” “Then continue to serve me, and your god will rise. Send me more warriors, also what do you have in the way of breeds that can fight against powerful magic?” “The Mageslayer breed has natural magical abilities in addition to their usual Yuan-ti abilities. They are well versed in arcane magic, dispel magic, polymorph magic, and more. They have helped us tremendously against the Scaleless Ones when they began to grow in their own magical knowledge,” the cleric responded. “I require your strongest Mageslayer,” said Myria. “You shall have him,” stated the cleric. Days later, Ryu, Garr, and Deis approached a shadowy cave where they had been told Rei and Nina were being held captive. But as they entered, Deis was cut off from her new allies by magic. Deis took a step forward, only to hear a low hiss echo from the shadows in front of her. A towering seven foot Yuan-Ti, covered in scales etched with arcane symbols, emerged from the darkness. It was a Mageslayer. His eyes glinted with deadly intent. “I’ve come for you, Deis,” he hissed. Deis smiled, “Then come closer, if you dare.”

Culwych1
Awesome setup! Don't know much about Deis Bleu so can't comment really, and I'm guessing this really depends on the Yuan-Tis level.

Don't know much about Deis Bleu so can't comment really, and I'm guessing this really depends on the Yuan-Tis level. Deis is a powerful sorceress, a goddess-like figure who is the older sister of the main antagonist of the first three Breath of Fire games, Myria. In game she can use elemental magic, create protective shields, buff the abilities of herself and others, heal herself and others, teleport, and has telekinesis. On the other end, she is not very physically strong, so the decision becomes does she have enough power to keep a top level Mageslayer at bay. She has been around for thousands of years, so she has seen almost everything. 14 hours ago, leroypowell3 said: Man I wish I had the time to research and use all these unpopular characters so well. Gotta look up both of these people before I can vote. A Mageslayer is highly resistant to magical attacks and can even create an anti-magic field to nullify magic within a limited radius. This technique is highly taxing and does not last long. It has a Mana Drain ability it can use to absorb the magical energy from their opponents and weapons built to cut through magical fields. It has a venomous bite like all the Yuan-Ti and can teleport short distances not the great distances that Deis can. It is said to be a good tactical fighter.
