Megastory 27.7

Previously: Learning of a Decepticon code, The Autobots gain actionable intelligence of their enemies operations and personnel. Astrotrain was on a transport run and before Ultra Magnus could send in Autobots to capture him, a human unit championed by Suzaku Kururugi were already on site. Piloting his Lancelot Knightmare Frame, Suzaku attempted to vanquish Astrotrain solo.

“Stupid humans.” Agent Fowler overheard Ultra Magnus cursing his species.

“The Decepticons are our problem. They should have let us handle Astrotrain.”

“Britannia tends to get in over their heads.” Fowler offered as an excuse.

Magnus wasn’t hearing that. “Tell the rest of the humans to back off. This is exclusively an Autobot operation now.”

Ultra Magnus was a good leader. He was strict but fair. He followed the rules and he knew how to get the job done. To piss him off like this was not a smart move.

There was just no way to bring this guy down.

Suzaku Kururugi wasn’t exactly elite, but his Lancelot Knightmare Frame was top of the line and was able to handle any other mech of it’s class in the world. But Astrotrain was not an Earth mecha. His alt modes said it all. A triple changer- he became a locomotive of whatever design the populace utilized and then a space shuttle. Both vehicles were heavily armored which translated to Astrotrain being extra tough even by Cybertronian standards. Being a transport specialist, He was designed to be larger than most other vehicles so his robot mode reflected that.

The Lancelot was faster but that was its only superior quality in this encounter. Astrotrain couldn’t hit it.

Smart enough to know that more dangerous back up would eventually show up, Astrotrain abandoned his delivery by switching to space shuttle mode and heading into orbit. Such an altitude made following him difficult. The Decepticons had long ago, developed ways to get around Earth’s orbital security network. Decepticon clocks worked better than any Milky Way galaxy civilizations who what such technology. That is why no one knew about the Nemesis.

A three mile long Cybertronian warship that used to harbor Megatron and his best warriors. For the Earth operation, the Nemesis was donated to the leader of this mission.

En route to rendezvous with the Nemesis, Astrotrain suddenly came under attack.

“We’ve got you surrounded Decepticon! A warning came through his audio receptors. “Give up and we’ll go easy on you!”

From all sides, robots in the disguise aircraft charged at him.

Crap Astrotrain thought to himself. The Airealbots.

A group of hotheads that thought they could take anybody with their flying feats. Not a one of them was all that powerful, but they could combine into Superion. Since they hadn’t already, the n they must be operating in their usual cocky style, assuming they don’t need gestal work for this op.

Getting away was the priority but Astrotrain was sure he needed to teach them a good lesson before they parted ways.

Fight Parameters:

At 10,000 feet, The Airealbots are out to capture Astrotrain. They will combine if they have to but they think the 5 of them can beat 1 Decepticon. Astrotrain is trying to escape to orbit but he does want to hurt somebody before he leaves.

Another good Megastory chapter, leroy, if a little short.

As for the match, Astrotrain's alt modes can get a little weird. In one mission, his train and shuttle modes can get big enough to contain most of the Decepticon army at once and even has room for the Constructicons to form Devastator. In another mission, his train mode's only big enough to (ineffectively) ram into Omega Supreme's leg and his shuttle mode can get grabbed and yeeted by Omega's grabbing arm. Also, Astrotrain's bot mode is a little smaller than Megatron's.

It's pretty inconsistent.

Toe-to-toe, I'm thinking the Aerielbot leader Silverbolt has a good change at taking Astrotrain solo. The entire Aerialbot team can likely take him pretty easily, and not even have to merge into Superion to do it.
