Match 21035 Professor X vs. Alfred Bester

Previously: Professor X went to investigate the Cadmus facility hoping to find any connection to mutant experimentation. He met the director, Richard Guyot, and ended up in a psi battle with the man.

Meanwhile: After 1^st contact conferences between the Shi’ar and the Milky Way galaxy civilizations, Lilandra went to Earth, sensing a kindred spirit. She was captured by the Men In Black.

 

 

Lilandra made it an eventful hunt but the Men In Black pinned her down and put her in custody. They took her to Cadmus since she was a new alien. Cadmus focused on extra-terrestrial biology so they were best suited to analyze and catalog her physiology.

She got the impression that they were trying to make her comfortable but it was also obvious that she was a prisoner.

In the adventure of running from the black suited individuals, Lilandra was distracted but now in this uncomfortable leisure, she felt that kindred mind even stronger. He was definitely here. On this world. It was a desperate play but she had no other options. She called out to him.

“Help me Charles Xavier.”

Watching the Shi’ar princess on the monitors for a moment, Miranda Lawson focused back on the girl that she had brought in. River Tam was sedated for the trip and remained that way all the way to her quarters. She was an experiment in connecting a human with a cosmic entity called the Phoenix Force. Her brother had kidnapped her and she had to be reacquired.

“We should be getting back on track soon now.” Bester had come to stand beside her. “What is your next assignment?” he asked of her.

“I don’t have one yet.” Miranda admitted.

Bester grunted. “Richard is loosing his mind battle with Xavier. He’s actually directing some Zoanoids and trying to hide he project. I think I’m going to have to intervene. Might you go and see that the Zoanoids don’t get out of hand?”

“Of course.” Miranda submitted.

Left alone, Bester was able to fully concentrate.

He could feel how powerful Xavier was. Guyot stood no chance. But there was another factor. The alien woman that Miranda had brought in. She was reaching out to Xavier. This sort of split battle was just what he needed to quantify his element of surprise. With so much going on- and only Bester understanding all of the factors- the most powerful mutant mind in the world be vanquished.

Professor X is already breaking through Richard Guyot’s mental defenses and he hears Lilandra calling him for help.

Bester is going to use all of these distractions to take Professor X out.
