SSJRuss Posted Friday at 04:14 AM Posted Friday at 04:14 AM The Grand Hunt Round TWO Capture or Kill the Target: (The Trapper) The MacMillan Estate In the gnarled woods lied The MacMillan Estate, a once prosperous mining operation by the rumor. Now, rusted buildings emit shallow, haunted creaks, echoing in the moonlight. Those that ran the Great Hunt wasted no time teleporting him to the place of his next target. Dark clouds loomed overhead, the sky churning unnaturally. Something primal about the place set Garrus on edge—perhaps the eerie silence that hung in the air or the faint stench of blood and rust. Garrus adjusted his visor, scanning the area as his boots crunched against the gravel path leading into the heart of the estate. His HUD flickered with faint readings—No immediate hostiles popped up on his HUD, but he didn’t trust it. His hand instinctively went to his M-92 Mantis sniper rifle, calibrated to perfection. If the Commissioner’s words were any indication, this wasn’t going to be a simple sweep-and-clear. "So, this is the Trapper’s playground," Garrus muttered, his mandibles tightening. "It screams ambush." He crouched behind a decaying wheelbarrow, his sniper rifle at the ready. The air was thick, the kind of atmosphere that got under your plates and stayed there. Every sound was amplified: the wind brushing against wood, the distant groan of a sagging structure, the faint echo of... footsteps? Garrus turned sharply, his rifle snapping to the direction of the sound, but there was nothing there. Just shadows playing tricks on his mind. He advanced into the estate, then stopped as he spotted it—just ahead, on the ground. A bear trap, its jagged teeth gleaming in the light. Garrus crouched, examining it. "Clever. But not clever enough." He disarmed the trap with a quick motion, thankful for his steady hands. He had a sinking feeling this wasn’t going to be the only one. Bear traps were scattered throughout the estate, expertly hidden among the debris and undergrowth. He disabled the ones he found, marking their locations on his HUD for potential use later. "Looks like someone enjoys their handiwork," Garrus mused, examining a trap’s mechanism. It was crude but effective, a testament to its maker’s brutal efficiency. The silence was broken by a deep, guttural growl that resonated through the estate. Garrus tensed, his rifle sweeping the area. A shadow appeared, massive and hulking. Then the figure stepped into view. The Trapper. The brute was every bit as menacing as his name suggested. A mountain of muscle clad in a patchwork of blood-stained leather and metal, his face obscured by a grotesque mask. He dragged a wicked, serrated cleaver in one hand while the other carried more traps. "Alright, big guy," Garrus said under his breath, retreating into the shadows. "Let’s see who’s hunting who." He wasted no time, firing a shot aimed at the Trapper’s head. The bullet struck true, impacting his mask and staggering the brute but failing to bring him down. He shook his head, then moved forward with a slow, deliberate menace, as though he had all the time in the world. He fired again, this time aiming for the brute’s knee. The shot landed, causing the Trapper to stumble, but the hulking figure pressed on, undeterred. The Trapper swung his cleaver in a wide arc, forcing Garrus to dive out of the way. The blade smashed into a support beam, splintering the wood with terrifying ease. "Noted," Garrus muttered, moving backward to put distance between him and the Trapper. Garrus gritted his teeth, retreating into the maze of the estate. He needed to get some distance if he was going to win. Behind him, he could hear the Trapper following, the cleaver dragging along the ground. The sound of a trap snapping shut reverberated through Garrus' body, then the pain flashed up his leg. Garrus whirled around to see his foot caught in a beartrap. "Figures," he grimanced, turning his weapon toward his approaching target. The Trapper held his cleaver high, ready for the killing blow.

SSJRuss Posted Friday at 09:46 PM Author Posted Friday at 09:46 PM Not me continuing a story that had it's last entry two years ago! It was one of my more unique stories and I do want to see which of these hunters is the best, so here's the continuation of Round 2. Hope you all enjoy it.

Just wanted to add some encouragement to see it through. I have some loose threads of my own I intend to get back to... at some point. As for this particular match, I was all ready to vote for Garrus and his more advanced weaponry and gadgetry. But the fact that Evan has the homefield advantage full of traps, the fact that Garrus has already been struck by a trap and the fact that Evan is seemingly already on top of him is giving me pause. Not sure at the moment. 1

Not sure at the moment. Well, I can't make it too easy for Garrus. I think he gets a few injuries, has to get scrappy, but ultimately claims victory. I don't think he has a chance on capturing the Trapper, killing him is his only option.
leroypowell3 Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Despite his revolting situation, I'm still going with Garrus.
