Boratz Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Chapter 42: Phase One: Age of the Titans Prt. 2 After much devastation and chaos, the battle went as exactly as Grand Admiral Thrawn had anticipated. While the extent of the impact was uncertain at this time, the Chiss Imperial looked over the LexCorps satellite footage of the damage that was caused by the two titans that were battling it out. Standing behind the Grand Admiral was Thrawn's protege, Eli Vanto. Vanto glanced over Thrawn's shoulder and gazed upon the screen. With all of his years with the impressive Imperial tactician, Vanto continued to find himself amazed by Thrawn's mind. After watching the destruction and chaos, Vanto knew that there was more to Thrawn's plan than simply unleashing these giant beasts upon the city. The protege of the Grand Admiral knew that this was only the beginning. Vanto reached down for a datapad and looked over the information that Thrawn had ordered him to gather. Throughout the different galaxies, there were more titans that Thrawn had become interested in using for this phase of Thrawn's plan. As Vanto's eyes shifted back to the screen he watched as Skar King and Gigan continued their brutal battle against one another. While Skar King was fast and agile, the cybernetic beast came back with strength and durability. The destruction of London only grew with each attack that was made by these fierce titans. The giant ape let out a pain-filled scream after sustaining an injury his side from Gigan. Despite the injury that he received, Skar King came back with a powerful attack. His deadly whip wrapped around the neck of the cyborg. With all of his strength, the massive red-haired ape pulled the cyborg down to the ground. Skar King reached down to pick up a large piece of debris. Smashing the debris against Gigan, the giant ape screamed while savagely beating the cyborg into the ground. With each attack, the ground shook violently and a cloud of dust started rising up into the air. With his grip tightening on his whip, Skar King started to smile once he saw his enemy becoming weak. The harder he pulled against the whip, the tighter it became against Gigan's throat. Hoping to finish the battle, Skar King pressed his feet against the body of the terrifying cyborg. With a small opening, Gigan let out a deafening roar while unleashing his blades into the ape's flesh. Skar King cried out while using a piece of a building to smash it into Gigan's face. The ape pulled until he was able to rip off the head of the enormous cyborg. Before Skar King could enjoy his victory, he felt a sharp pain in his chest. The ape glanced down and saw one of Gigan's blades plunged deep into his heart. His vision grew hazing while his legs started to wobble. Each breath he turned stung with a fiery pain. The false King stumbled until his body fell down against the streets. "Well, that was underwhelming." Lex Luthor said with a cold set of eyes. "Vanto, send in the next two kaiju." Thrawn said without breaking his gaze from the screen. "The next two?" Lex asked while shooting a glare at the Grand Admiral. "These two were merely the beginning of this phase. I suspect our enemies' leaders are going to scramble to escape from the devastation. My suspicion is that they will call upon air support for their evacuation attempts." Thrawn replied. Lex smiled while turning his eyes back to the screen. "So, what? What are you sending in now?" Lex asked with intrigue. "In my research of the kaiju, I have found that there are some capable of flight. Sending in some that have that capability will severely weaken our enemy's chances of escape through the air." Thrawn replied. "Hmm, interesting. What are the titans that you are sending in?" Lex asked while crossing his arms. "You will see, Mr. Luthor. There is no reason to spoil the surprise." Thrawn replied. Meanwhile, It took a moment for her eyes to adjust to her surroundings after regaining consciousness. There was a throbbing pain in her head, and a ringing in her ears. The golden protocol droid leaned down to help her to her feet. Leia looked around the building where her fellow New Republic leaders were set to meet with Earth's leaders. As her surroundings became clear, she realized that this building took on much damage as a result of the battle between the two giant beasts. A sense of urgency fell upon her once she saw a friend of hers caught underneath a pile of rubble. Leia quickly rushed over to see if she could dig her friend out from underneath the debris. The senator begged and pleaded with her friend to make some sort of noise, but she was only met with silence. From all around, Leia could hear the pain-filled cries of other leaders that were injured in the destruction. Despite the screams, Leia's focus on her friend did not break. Leia soon felt a hand press down on her shoulder. She stopped for a moment and slowly glanced up at the same man she had met earlier. Despite being partially covered in ash, Leia recognized the man in the eye patch almost instantly. She glanced up into his eye and saw a look that she yad seen many times before. It was the same look that she had seen in her fellow Rebels during their war with the Empire. It was a look that made her realize that this man, Nick Fury, had seen a lifetime of war and pain. In that brief moment, she realized that they were now allies in a war. Before she could acknowledge the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., Leia turned her attention back down to her friend. She continued to pick at the rubble that was pinned against her. Fury grabbed her shoulder and gently pulled her away from her friend. "She's gone." Fury said calmly. "No, I have to...." Leia pleaded with tears in her eyes. "She's gone! You're not!" Fury barked at the New Republic senator. "We have to evacuate. It is not safe here." Leia's eyes shifted around the room. She saw that there were several New Republic leaders that had survived the destruction. Before she could mutter anything out, she overheard a security officer saying that an air evacuation unit was heading their way. Leia's eyes fell upon a senator from Naboo. She could see a look of relief come over that senator while others started to gather together. Leia looked around the area and saw the hurt in Earth's leaders. There were several other lives that were lost in this attack, not just from her galaxy but from this one as well. Despite the hope of being evacuated from the area, Leia felt a dread in the pit of her chest. 3PO did the best he could to comfort the senator, but there was little the droid could do to calm down the situation. Despite the ringing that lingered in her ears, Leia could hear the urgency in everyone's voices. Her attention soon turned to a man in a suit and tie. This man was surrounded by what appeared to be body guards of some kind. She overheard the body guards tell him something in a language that she did not quite understand. He was soon rushed away by his guards toward a stairwell. The thought of following them came upon her until she saw a Rodian senator on the floor. Leia and 3PO turned their attention to the wounded senator and went to see how they could render aide. Entering the roof, the leader that was surrounded by his guards was led to a helicopter pad. He looked out at the London landscape and could not believe what he was seeing. There was fire and smoke all throughout. The trail of destruction was evident from what he could see. He heard sirens from first responders echoing in the streets. Over the sound of the sirens, he heard the faint sound of his helicopter approaching. A sense of relief fell over the foreign leader as his eyes turned toward the skies above. Despite the chaos that he had just experienced, he was soon going to be safe from all danger and harm. As the helicopter circled around them, his smile soon faded. A screeching sound pierced through the world around. The foreign leader's eyes sank once her saw the helicopter explode above them. The fiery remains of the helicopter soon crashed down upon the foreign leader and his team of security. The city soon saw another horror break through the clouds of smoke. A winged beast that resembled a vulture flew over London. Panic continued to ensue as the devastated streets of London laid their eyes upon a flying beast that was bigger than a battleship. Before the Giant Claw could wreak havoc upon the world, it sensed something else high up in the sky. Descending out of the sky, the Queen of the Meganulon circled around the City of London. Laying waste to fighter jets and other helicopters in her path, Megaguirus soon turned her attention toward the Giant Claw. Sensing that the vulture-like beast could prove to be a threat, Megaguirus flew toward winged beast. The Giant Claw let out a screeching roar before taking to the skies to confront his enemy. *************************** This takes place shortly after Skar King's battle with Gigan. While both Skar King and Gigan died fighting each other, their battle caused much destruction in London. Thrawn has sent in Megaguirus and the Giant Claw to continue his efforts in trying to kill as many world leaders and New Republic leaders as possible.
