In his dimly lit cell, Dr. Luther Paradigm sat hunched over. He balled his hands into fists as his mind raced with plans of vengeance

DR. PARADIGM: Street Sharks... Abominations of science. My brilliance thwarted by those cursed... freaks. They’ll pay. Oh, they’ll pay dearly.

The sound of distant chatter and laughter among prison guards grated on his nerves. He scowled. He imagined the Street Sharks mocking him after they helped put him behind bars just as those guards surely did.

Outside the prison walls, five of Mr. Sinister’s merciless mercenaries, the Marauders, arrived like shadows of death. Lady Mastermind, Arclight, Vanisher, Harpoon, and Blockbuster radiated ill intent with every step.

LADY MASTERMIND: Alright, here’s the plan. We smash, we scare, we grab the good doctor, and we’re out. Mr. Sinister was very clear: we’re not leaving without him.

Arclight cracked her knuckles.

ARCLIGHT: Finally, some fun. These walls won’t stand a chance against me."

HARPOON: I hope some of the guards put up a fight. It’s been too long since I’ve made anyone scream.

VANISHER: Let’s keep it efficient. I’m not getting paid extra for dragging this out.

BLOCKBUSTER: Efficient? Where’s the fun in that?

With a thunderous strike, Arclight sent a seismic shockwave through the earth. The shockwave shook the prison walls and crumbled chunks of concrete to the ground. Alarms blared from the towers above as chaos erupted. Guards scrambled to maintain order, but Lady Mastermind’s illusions turned their fear into panic. Massive kaiju-like beasts materialized before their eyes, roaring and smashing through imaginary walls.

GUARD #1: What the hell is that thing?! It’s…it’s tearing through the block!

GUARD #2: I don’t know! Run!

Meanwhile, Harpoon targeted the few guards who remained vigilant. He fired his projectiles with cruel precision to eliminate anyone in his line of sight. As pandemonium consumed the prison, Vanisher teleported himself and Blockbuster directly to Paradigm’s cell.

Blockbuster gripped the cell bars

BLOCKBUSTER: Let’s get you outta here, Doc.

With a grunt, Blockbuster bent the steel bars like paper clips. Paradigm stood up, confused and wary.

DR. PARADIGM: Who are you people? What do you want?

VANISHER: Your ticket out of here. Mr. Sinister wants to meet with you.

DR. PARADIGM: Sinister? And why should I trust him?

Blockbuster towered over Dr. Paradigm with an intimidating expression.

BLOCKBUSTER: He didn’t say you had to trust him. Just that we had to bring you. Intact, preferably, but I’m not picky.

Paradigm considered transforming into his monstrous form but quickly decided against it. For now, it seemed wiser to cooperate.

Inside Sinister’s lair, Paradigm faced the genetic overlord himself, who greeted him with an unsettling smile.

MR. SINISTER: Dr. Paradigm, your work with marine biology and genetic manipulation is quite fascinating. Imagine what we could achieve together.

DR. PARADIGM: I prefer to work alone.

Mr. Sinister chuckled.

MR. SINISTER: And yet, you have little choice. Or would you prefer to return to your cell?

Dr. Paradigm was hesitant with his response.

DR. PARADIGM: At the moment, I don’t know how much I could honestly bring to the table. My thoughts are consumed with revenge against the Street Sharks. I can’t focus on anything else.

 Mr. Sinister smirked.

MR. SINISTER: If that is your only obstacle, consider it removed. I’ll just have the Marauders bring me the Street Sharks.

Scalphunter stepped forward.

SCALPHUNTER: I’ll lead the mission. It’s been too long since I’ve had a worthy hunt. A few of us missed out on the action last time and I know Blockbuster felt unsatisfied.

The next day, the four Street Sharks strolled down to a bustling boulevard. The frightening appearance of the brothers turned heads as they bantered.

STREEX: Yo, Ripster, think anyone around here’s got a pool big enough for us? I need to stretch my fins!

BIG SLAMMU: I’m more worried about food. All this walking’s made me hungry!"

Jab shadowboxed by his brother.

JAB: Forget food. I need a fight. My fists are getting bored!

RIPSTER: Relax, guys. We’ll hit the boardwalk, grab some grub, and maybe I’ll let Streex embarrass himself on the waves again.

STREEX: Hey man! That was one time!

Their conversation was cut short by a sudden, swirling vortex of shuriken-like blades. The mutant, Riptide, struck first.  His spinning projectiles forced the Sharks to scatter.

RIPTIDE: Well, well. Looks like the catch of the day came to us.

Blockbuster charged into view.

BLOCKBUSTER: Time to break some teeth.

Blockbuster's raw strength overwhelmed Jab and Big Slammu initially as he tossed them around.

JAB: Man, I don’t think I’ve ever felt strength like that before.

BIG SLAMMU: He’s not so tough.

Riptide’s relentless assault kept Streex on the defensive. 

STREEX:  How do we fight this? I don’t even get what this is.

RIPSTER: Keep moving! Don’t let them pin us down!

Ripster grabbed a nearby surfboard and launched it at Riptide to interrupt his concentration. While Blockbuster focused on Jab, Big Slammu got behind him.

BIG SLAMMU: Seismic Slam!

Slammu struck the ground with all his strength and the resulting shockwave knocked Blockbuster off balance. Jab sent the bald strong man reeling with a series of punches. The Sharks' resistance soon faltered when Vertigo revealed herself. Her powers sent waves of nausea and disorientation rippling through the brothers.

VERTIGO: Time to end this little game.

The weakened Sharks were vulnerable. Riptide and Blockbuster resumed their attack and the Sharks fell one by one. Streex, Jab, and Big Slammu were knocked out cold. Ripster, however, managed to avoid Vertigo’s abilities as he dove through the concrete and reemerged near a startled Vertigo. He quickly knocked her unconscious before she could react.

RIPSTER: Not bad for a science experiment, huh?

Blockbuster and Riptide advanced toward Ripster, ready to finish the job. Finally, Scalphunter added himself into the fray.

SCALPHUNTER: Stand down. Vertigo’s out, and Sinister wants those three as soon as possible. Leave their leader to me. I’m done with the sidelines.

The other two Marauders gathered the unconscious Sharks and Vertigo and walked away, leaving Ripster alone with Scalphunter.

RIPSTER: Who the hell are you? What do you want with us?

SCALPHUNTER: Name’s Scalphunter. And you? You’re my next trophy.

RIPSTER: No way. I’ll put you down and save my brothers.

The two squared off.

SCALPHUNTER: Let’s see if you’re as tough as you look, Shark Boy.

RIPSTER: Bring it, Scalphead. You’re about to be chum.

Scalphunter goes by some so other name now that I can't remember. Too racist for some people but whatever.

He's my pick for this victory.

Greycrow, but I think that started during the Krakoa era which is way after this Marauder time period.

At least I'm getting to this one in time.   

Good set-up, Johnny. I somehow never watched Street Sharks growing up, but after looking them up, the Marauders just might be a good match-up for them. 

As for the match, given Scalphunter's experience in dealing with powered foes, he might have a shot to take Ripster down, but he'd really have to watch for the Shark's strength and speed.
