The peaceful sight of the forest clearing was broken by the sight of three armored animals.  The group collectively known by their codename We3 made their way along the riverbank, the dog 1 in the lead.  The rabbit 3 lumbered after 1 while the cat 2 paused to slash at the water with her metallic claws.

1 turned back to bark at 2 in his mechanical voice.  “!2!  !We3 go!”

2 hissed as she slashed at a passing trout.  “!1 sssstink!  !2 eat!  !Food now!”

1 watched as the fish dodged 2’s strike and started off downstream.  “Food 2 fast 4 2?”

With a snarl 2 fired off a flechette that struck the trout.  She purred in satisfaction as the fish’s carcass floated to the shore.   “2 2 fast 4 food.  Food 0.”

“We3.  Eat. Now?” asked 3 in it’s halting tone.

Before 1 could reply he could hear the sound of large explosion from above.  The three animals looked up to see a ball of fire careening out of the sky towards them.

“!2!  !3!  !Run!  !Run!”

We3 sprinted for the trees as the ball crashed to the river.  2 peeked out from her cover to glare at the object which had landed on top of her trout.

“Sssstink ball.”

The flame on the ball was quickly extinguished as the ball sprouted four legs and rose up out of the river.  A hatch popped open and a fat hamster emerged.  He surveyed the scene and waved at the three animals, chittering excitedly.

“The hamster says, ‘Greetings!’” a computerized voice from the ball said.

“Ham-ster?” asked 1.  “Ham-ster gud?”

The hamster clapped it’s paws and continued chirping as his machine translated.  “He says that he is pleased to have escaped from captivity to find other enhanced animals.  Even if they are less advanced.”

“Ad-vanced?” 3 wondered.  “Means?”

“!Sssstink!” yowled 2.  “!Ball crush food!  !Ball 0!  !2 crush ball!”

“That is unwise,” translated the mech.  “Wrecking Ball is a champion of the arena.”

“!Wreck Ball champion of 0!”

2 bounded from the trees and leaped at Wrecking Ball.  She fired a volley of flechette’s causing the hamster to squeak in alarm and duck back inside his machine.

“Do not threaten the hamster.  Not unless you desire annihilation.  Combat mode engaged.”

Miniguns emerged from either side of the mech and started firing at 2.  The cat dodged the initial burst of gunfire before the guns jammed.

“Hardware error detected.  Estimate for repairs: 30 minutes.  Roll out.”

Wrecking Ball retracted it’s legs and rumbled towards 2, only for 1 to slam into him and send the ball careening back into the river.

“Wreck Ball no gud.  !No hurt 2!  !3!”

The rabbit biorg gave a great leap and deployed one of his mines.  The blast sent Wrecking Ball flying to other shore and into an oak tree.  There was a cacophony of angry chirping and squeaking from within the mech.

“Profanity filter established.  You have angered the hamster.  Diplomacy protocols disengaged.  Lethal force will be applied.”

OK:

We3 are at full strength.

Wrecking Ball is at half strength and will need 30 minutes to get up to full power, which will allow him his shield and minefield ultimate.

Battle takes place in a forest.

Game On!

Fun pairing. With their limited time advantage, I think WE3 could pull it out. But I'm still going with Wrecking Ball to extend it long enough to access his good stuff.

THE BOTTOM LINE

The Wrecking Ball mech rolled through the forest knocking down trees as if they were bowling pins.  From above 2 leapt from branch to branch firing off flechettes.

“The hamster wishes to inform you that your toys will not hurt his creation,” droned the mech.

“!2 break ssstink ball!” 2 yowled.

Hammond the hamster sat at the controls in Wrecking Ball and kept it after 2.  Suddenly an alarm went off that made Hammond squeak in alarm.

“Warning!  Explosive devices ahead!”

A short distance in front of Wrecking Ball were 1 and 3.  As well as a line of 3’s mines.

“3.  Make.  Boom.  Now?”

“!3 wait!  !Wait!”

Hammond grabbed the steering column and yanked upwards.

“!Now!  !Now!”

With a thought from 3, the landmines exploded.  But Wrecking Ball’s grappling hook shot out and latched onto a tree.  The armored animals watched in shock as Wrecking Ball flew over the landmines and swung up towards 2.

“!Sssstink ba…”

2 was unable to finish her curse as the mech slammed into her.  3 hopped over to wear the battered cat landed with a thud.

“!2!  3. Help.  2.”

“!No!” howled 1.  “!Run, 3!  !Run!”

Wrecking Ball crashed onto 2 and 3 with a sickening crunch.  1 snarled and charged for the mech.  “!Bad ball!  !No hurt We3!”

“Repairs completed.  Initialize minefield!”

1 armored shell clanged against Wrecking Ball, the strength of the dog leaving a dent in the hamster’s hull.  But it was too little too late as Wrecking Ball’s mines were projected all around 1.

“Area denied.”

KABOOM!

When the dust had settled, Hammond popped open the hatch at the top of his mech and surveyed the scene.  All three of his opponents were laid out around him, their armor in pieces.  1 attempted to rise onto his paws but collapsed.  “Bad… dog…. Bad… dog….”

Hammond clapped his paws and punched the air.

“The hamster thanks you for helping him work the bugs out of his system.  Have a nice day.  Roll out.”

The hamster ducked back into Wrecking Ball, closed the hatch, and sent the mech rolling back into the forest.  2 watched the mech disappear with disgust.

“Ssssstink…. Ball.”
