Match 21118 King Kong vs. Varan

Chapter 47: Phase One: Age of the Titans Prt. 4
 
Within the Chimaera,
 
Both Luthor and Thrawn gazed over the screen with satisfactory glares. The satellite feeds that one of LexCorps was relaying to them showed the extensive damage to the great city of London. It was a city in ruin. Even though the giant gorilla was not a malicious being, his battle against the cyber-zilla proved to be just as destructive as the previous titans that we sent to London through the teleportation device. While the two brilliant strategists looked over the screens, they realized that Kong was doing all that he could to prevent further loss of life. Lex’s dark eyes shifted and moved toward the Heir to the Empire.
 
“So, what now? The monkey is to protect people. It would be a shame if our plans our compromised because of a monkey with a heart of gold.” Lex coldly said while shifting his eyes back to the screen.
 
“It was never our intention to wipe out the entire city. We have weakened our enemy’s leaders. That is certain, but Phase one is not yet complete. Even then, phase two will prove to be just as devastating to the leadership of these different worlds.” Thrawn replied.
 
“When does Phase two begin?” Lex asked.
 
“Soon.” Thrawn replied. “We have more kaiju to send.” Thrawn turned his red eyes toward his protégé, Eli Vanto. “Any update on Megaguirus?”
 
“It… It disappeared over the ocean.” Vanto replied while hesitantly turning his head toward his superior.
 
“Interesting.” Thrawn replied as he sauntered closer toward Vanto’s workstation. “What of the other kaiju that we were keeping our eyes on?”
 
“They, uh, they are no where to be found. It seems like everything that was in that ocean has either vanished or gone dark.” Vanto replied.
 
Lex chuckled to himself before turning his attention toward Thrawn once again. “There is a possibility that the King of the Monsters is not taking too kindly to your plans.” The billionaire said with a grin.
 
“It does not affect the overall plans that I have in motion.” Thrawn said while walking back toward the screen. “Send in the Varan. See what it will do against the King of the Hollow Earth. Also, look into the other kaiju that I had you gather information on.”
 
Meanwhile,
 
Sitting in a classroom, the young girl that had befriended Kong had fallen asleep at her desk. Overcome by otherworldly visions, the young Jia woke up in a cold sweat. Her teacher was standing over her while other students were staring at her with dumbfounded expressions. Jia started breathing heavily as she jumped to her feet. Before the teacher could use her sign language to ask what was happening, the bell had run to commence the ending of school. The young girl jumped to her feet and started heading out of the room while the teacher was driving to get her attention. As she walked to the exit of the school, the young girl looked down at her phone and saw that her adoptive mother was going to be late that night coming home. Kia stated breathing heavily once again as another vision came upon her. Feeling that there was something troubling brewing, the young Iwi ran as fast as she could away from the school. She felt an urge inside of her as images appeared in her mind. Jia felt as if she was being led to something majestic, but she did not know what exactly.
 
In London,
 
 
With his hand clenched tight in a powerful grip, the King of the Hollow Earth slammed his fist against his chest. Kong let out a deafening roar while standing over the remains of cyber-zilla. The Great Ape's battle with the cybernetic beast was short but intense. While cyber-zilla was fast and evasive, Kong proved to strong and durable for the beast. Cyber-zilla tried to unleash a power blast against the massive ape, but Kong's battle axe was able to absorb the dangerous attack. The cybernetic titan then tried to attack the Mighty Ape head on, but was tossed around with ease. Kong unleashed a series of brutal attacks against the cybernetic beast. After slamming cyber-zilla against the ground, Kong slammed his axe into the top of the cyborg's head. Cyber-zilla's roar slowly faded as its life came to an end. While the Mighty King of the Hollow Earth was victorious, the city of London was in ruin.
 
While basking in his victory over the cybernetic beast, the Mighty King sensed another presence. He turned his eyes toward the skies above, and saw something gliding through the air. A massive monster coming from the East descended down upon the devastated London landscape. A towering reptilian creature roared out as it moved through the streets and started wreaking havoc on the world around. Kong spit out as he glared upon the Varan. He gritted his teeth while resting his axe over his shoulder. The giant reptilian titan roared as it slammed one of limbs against a large tower. Pieces of debris rained down upon the streets as the reptilian titan let out a terrifying roar. Before the reptilian monster could cause anymore chaos, he heard a roar coming from the Mighty Kong. King Kong looked over the chaos down below and knew he had to put a stop to this new enemy. 
 
The Varan growled as it turned its body to face the massive ape. Sensing the threat this creature was to humanity, Kong grinned before unleashing an unsettling roar. He pounded his chest in defiance before swinging his axe to a defensive position. While looking over the massive ape, the giant reptile started positioning its feet over the streets. Varan jumped high up into the air and started gliding toward the Mighty Ape. Kong's grip on his axe tightened as he jumped toward the Giant Monster from the East with out of his might. 
 
At the Monarch outpost,
 
Dr. Ilene Andrews and her staff were scrambling to find out what was happening. They had kept a watchful eye on Kong and several other creatures within the Hollow Earth, but somehow Kong had vanished into thin air. Some of the staff joked about losing a monkey the size of a mountain, but Ilene was not in a joking mood. Monarch would be expecting answers shortly and she did not have any to give. It was not long until she received a call from an unexpected acquaintance. As Ilene's eyes looked down at her phone, she saw Trapper's name appear on the screen. "Why is the leading titan veterinarian calling me?" She thought to herself before answering the call.
 
"What do you want, Trapper?" Ilene asked.
 
"Well, hello to you too." Trapper responded in a friendly tone.
 
"Huh." Ilene chuckled before continuing her conversation. "Trapper, things are a little chaotic here. What do you want?"
 
"I heard from the rumor mill that you lost that big gorilla of yours." Trapper replied.
 
"Yeah, that's kind of why things are chaotic over. If you are not able to help then let me get back to work." Ilene scoffed.
 
"Turn on the news." Trapper said.
 
"Which channel?" Ilene asked.
 
"Any of 'em." The titan veterinarian replied.
 
"Holy sh...." Ilene said before going quiet.
 
"Yeah, I think the big fella has found himself in a bit of a pickle. London Bridge has definitely fallen down." Trapper replied. 
 
Ilene's mind started to race as her eyes became glued to the television. "Monarch can get us satellite footage, and..."
 
"I think we need to think about Project Powerhouse." Trapper interrupted her.
 
"What? Are you crazy?" Ilene asked as she shook her head and took her gaze off the television screen.
 
"I'd say yes, but I don't think it is all that crazy!" Trapper exclaimed.
 
"What is going on in that mind of yours?" Ilene asked. 
 
"There's been a couple titans spotted in ol' London. Right now, the way I see it, our boy may need all the help he can get. Unless Godzilla decides to show up, we may need to give Kong all the boosts he can get!" Trapper replied.
 
"Let's see if we can get eyes on him first. If Kong is on the surface, it won't be long until Godzilla shows up, or any other titans for that matter." Ilene replied.
 
"I will get one of our chariots ready. We will fly in and go from there. What'd ya say?" Trapper asked. 
 
“I will message Jia. Let her know that I am going to be a bit late tonight.” Ilene replied with a smile.
 
“She can always join us. More the marrier.” Trapper replied.
 
“If she knows what we are going, she is going to want to do whatever she can to help Kong. I am not going to put her in any danger.” Ilene said.
 
“I feel like that little one has seen enough danger for any normal person’s lifetime. I think she can take care of herself.” Trapper replied.
 
“I… I am not going to do that to her. She can stay for this one.” Ilene said confidently, unaware that Jia had a journey of her own.

This battle takes place shortly after Kong’s battle with the cyber-zilla. Thrawn has sent in the Varan to try and defeat Kong. Meanwhile, Ilene Andrews of Monarth has discovered what has transpired and that Kong was transported to London. She and Trapper are trying to head there with the pieces of the Project Powerhouse to see if they can help Kong as they fear that there will be more titans summoned to London.
 
Kong is armed with his battle axe.

Kong should be getting tired now but Varan doesn't seem to have a lot to offer.

I was thinking on similar lines. Attrition is going to catch up with Kong sooner than later as long as his opponents aren't pushovers.

As much as I would like Varan to win his first match, I don’t think he has what it takes to take down the Monsterverse Kong. Even if Kong is tired from his previous fight. Also, Kong would probably get the most votes, since most people know him, and Varan is a less-known monster.

But I might as well post this video of Varan to help him out.
