Megastory 27.8

Previously: Computer whiz Chip Chase uncoded a Decpticon communication codification. The Autobots now use it to uncover Decepticon operations on Earth.

Chip Chase had given the Autobots a goldmine of enemy activity. The intelligence gathered from the code breaker also identified Tarantulus activity on Earth.

He sometimes went black but whatever he was doing right now must have been approved since it was in the Decepticon records.

Tarantulus was the mad scientist of the Predacon faction. The Predacons were closely related to the Decepticon cause but didn’t completely align with their goals. As far as Autobots were concerned they were the same thing.

Tarantulas was known for his dangerous experiments. Often enough they blew up in his face but it still caused trouble for everyone around else. Whatever the Predacon was doing, they needed to neutralize it.

These experiments were going well. Pretender technology was nothing new for Decpeticons, but Tarantulas ambition was to actually morph cybertronians into organic beings to better operate in their environments. Many bots found this ideal distasteful, the pretender shells were plenty effective. Taratulas’ upgrades would be useful for deep cover.

Megatron authorized the project, seeing the potential. Soundwave was supposed to supervise the work but the cycloptian mech was busy with his own projects.

Astrotrain was supposed to be delivering some energon to the facility and when he didn’t show, Tarantulas knew that someone would be discovering him. The only thing that surprised him was that it was Autobots gathering around his facility. He expected some human group piloting war machines that were no match for Cybertronians. No matter.

A few mechs were assigned to protect and assist the undertaking. They were alerted when the Autobots showed up.

Not being point man for the op pissed him off. Sunstreaker noticed that he was always passed over for heading up strikes. Not counting the freaks like Sureshot and Perceptor, Sunstreaker was the best shot. Again, not like freaks such as Blurr, he was as fast as anybody, no matter what Bluestreak or Hot Rod said. But most of all he looked good doing his thing.

Marching orders were to shut this thing down, take whoever surrendered prisoner and end anybody who resisted. He liked that last part.

As his teammates reported being in position and what they were seeing, Sunstreaker realized he must have been in the deadzone. That is until a sentry came out of a holographic wall.

Resisting the urge to put the bot down, Sunstreaker realized he had found the secret entrance. He reported the discovery but also informed them that he was going in.

Not one minute after proceeding, alarms went off and sounds of battle could be heard. Since no on was calling them, he figured the others could handle it and kept moving forward.

He didn’t really understand what he was looking at, but they had to be some of Tarantulus’ experiments.

Finally movement caught his attention. Holding his fire Sunstreaker waited for a clear shot. He heard the transformation and wasn’t surprised to see a speed cycle zip passed him.

“Catch me if you can Autobot!” he teased.

“Oh no you don’t!” He promised. “You’re not getting away from me!”

He transformed too and speed after him.

Fight Parameters:

Sunstreaker chases down Thrust. They are in city limits but it’s not busy. It’s not empty either but they can fight and tranform as needed.

Good chapter for your Megastory arc, leroy, but kinda short. I wonder how many people here still know about these eras of the Transformers franchise? :D

As for the match, while Thrust's motorcycle mode is likely more agile than Sunstreaker's Lamborghini mode, a Lamborghini is still faster on the road than any cycle. This will likely go into bot mode vs. bot mode. Thrust can be a vicious fighter, but so can Sunstreaker, and the G1 Transformers have generally been more powerful than their Beast Wars/Machines descendants. I'd say Sunstreaker takes Thrust down due to being more powerful and generally cleverer.

The good news is that the modern comics utilize everybody so they don't really die to history.
