Match 21198 Q vs. Mr. Roarke

“De shuttle, de shuttle!” Tattoo enthusiastically exclaimed. The bell rang out across the island 

 

“Smiles everyone smiles!” No matter how many visitors came to Fantasy Island, Mr. Roarke never tired of their presence and he always insisted on putting his best foot forward. It had been sometime since someone had come to Fantasy Island. The modern world with its holodecks and strange new worlds to explore certainly had no shortage of ways to fill those fantasies, but none with his personal touch and certainly none with his guidance. As the shuttle set down Roarke’s smile remained wide. “Ah this will be a beautiful day.” Roarke breathed in the air, it was cleaner than it had been on Earth in a long time.

 

“Who are the guests this time boss?” Tattoo asked as he straightened his bowtie. 

 

“A starfleet Captain who wishes he had been more reserved in his youth, he-”

 

“He’s lived out that fantasy.” The shuttle had set down, but appearing in a flash of White Light next to Roarke was a dark haired figure in a Starfleet Uniform. “Q it’s been too long. Though I hear you prefer Roarke, hardly a Q sound in there. Roarqe, Roarque, it’s just so wordy.” Roarke’s smile disappeared leaving him staring at this all too familiar interloper. “Don’t worry about Jean-Luc, I taught him a lesson through his fantasy, like you would. He doesn’t remember his shore leave request and his plans to come here. 

 

“Hey boss who is-” Tattoo was cut off with a snap from the new interloper and vanished.

 

 “I’m a bit busy and don’t have time to deal with the help now Q-” 

 

“It’s Roarke Q, and what do you want here? Where is Tattoo?” Roarke stared cooly at this interloper, the 

 

“I want to bring you back to the Continuum back home. I think they are tired of you galavanting around with humans. My apologies about perhaps drawing attention to it. As for your bookkeeper, I think I sent him to his cousin’s or something. Now shall we-”

 

“I will not be going anywhere with you Q, my place is here, not with the Continuum.”

 

“I appreciate the potential of humanity as much as the next Q, but you really don’t have time for this sort of thing. The Continuum has tasked me with finding these renegade Q’s who have run off. I’ve got to deal with one in the Delta Quadrant after I bring you back home.”

 

“Have you considered that our Continuum and grouped existence is not the end all be all for a Q? You yourself have seen the benefits of traveling the galaxy it seems.”

 

“Oh Q, that’s enough of that. How about a little test? I fulfilled the fantasy of some mortal being and he learned his lesson, why don’t you let me prove any Q can do this and then you rejoin the Continuum?”

“Very well Q,” the white clad being spoke, “I’ll agree to your terms, if… you agree that your omnipotence may not directly affect the outcome.”

 

“Done and done.” 

 

With a flash of light Q had Fantasy Island to himself with the knowledge that Mr. Roarke was watching and it was his job to handle Fantasy Island and its guests.
