Match 21274 X-Men vs. Ultimen

Previously: Suspecting Cadmus of experimenting on mutants, Professor X went to investigate, he first engaged with Richard Guyot and then Bester.

 

 

Professor X was finished being nice. These people were up to no good. Even as he scanned for more threats, he made the call to Cyclops to bring in the X-Men.

His next objective was to find the individual that had been calling to him for help. She was here in this very facility.

Determined now, nothing even came close to standing in his way. Anyone even in his vicinity received a brain shutting down mind blast that made his navigation breeze.

Soon he found her.

“I am Lilandra.”

“I’m Charles.”

They both already knew that but the formality felt nice.

“We have to get the M’Kran crystal back. They took it.”

“Don’t worry. Help is on the way.” Professor X promised.

“X-Men, the Professor needs us!” it was all that Cyclops needed to say. X-Men leaped at the volunteer button. Cyclops didn’t need everyone, only a small group.

Unsure of exactly what the Professor needed them for he was thoughtful about his selection. It was a government funded installation so destructive power was probably not a good idea. The Professor had gone to investigate Cadmus’ effect on mutants so brains would be a good to have. While stealth was not the priority, such talents would be beneficial keeping things from getting out of hand.

Shadowcat, Beast and Nightcrawler. If things got hairy, a more powerful roster would be standing by.

Upon reaching the Cadmus facility, the X-Men found a welcoming party.

“You can turn around and go back home.” the Asian man spoke for the group.

“Not so fast, pal.” Cyclops said. “We’ve got someone important to us inside that place.”

“If that’s the case,” Wind Dragon replied. “You’ll get him back when his business here is finished.”

“Funny thing about that,” Cyclops responded. “He called us to come and get him.”

“Whatever the problem is, we’ll handle it.”

Cyclops tightened his jaw. “I’m guessing you know who we are. But I don’t know you.”

“We’re the Ultimen. We’re operatives for Cadums. If the X-Men have an interest in our work arrange for a tour.”

Nearly at the end of his patience Cyclops responded. “Buddy. You’re in our way. We’re going to go through you if you don’t stand down.”

Wind Dragon’s nose flared as he got ready to fight. “You’re gonna try and you’re gonna be forcibly ejected.”

Pretty good chapter for your Megastory, leroy, and pretty good CBUB Match debut for the Ulitmen. Story's pretty short, though. 

As for the match, I'm pretty sure this particular group of X-Men can't take on the Ulitmen head-on, but Cyclops' tactics and the others' evading abilities could allow them to play it smart. If these Ultimen has the same composition as they did in JLU, the X-Men could evade them and keep them off-balance until their bodies start breaking down.

Definitely not your typical go to team alignment for the X-Men. I like it. A lot of intelligence and experience. Kitty, Kurt, and obviously Scott have all been team leaders. I think they can take advantage of the the Ultimen's inexperience despite them having the power advantage.
