FINAL GIRL FACE-OFF

Round 1: Match 8

FinalGirl8.jpg.7edadfece5b7f2edc336d21c39534467.jpg

MATCH 6 RESULTS

Erin Hardesty panted from running, her face was streaked with sweat and grime, and her eyes were wide with pance. Her hand trembled as she clutched the tire iron she had found in the swamp after losing her knife.  Every rev of the chainsaw sent her mind back to the hell of the Hewitt house.

The monstrous form of the vengeful Victor Crowley, towering and blood-soaked, crashed through the underbrush, his chainsaw roared with hunger.

VICTOR: RRAAAAGH!

Erin dove behind a thick cluster of overhanging branches, her breath shallow as the chainsaw's buzz grew near. She held the tire iron close, her muscles tensed. She was ready to strike if the moment presented itself.

Suddenly a different noise rang out.

HEATHER: Hey, swamp freak!

Heather Miller’s voice was cold and confident. She buried her hatchet into Victor’s back. He stumbled forward with a monstrous howl.

HEATHER: Sorry, but you’re no Leatherface. Just a pale imitation.

Victor’s fury reignited. With a roar, he turned and barreled toward Heather, swinging wildly. She ducked and wove through the trees as the chainsaw sliced through bark and branches, inadvertently cluttering Victor’s path to his intended victim. The sudden honk of a jeep horn caught Heather off guard. A weathered Sheriff rolled up near her with his window down.

SHERIFF: Hey, kid! Get in! I can get you out of here!

Heather's eyes narrowed. Memories of the crooked sheriff from Newt who tied her up clouded her judgment. She backed away.

HEATHER: Not a chance.

The Sheriff turned off the engine and stepped out. He lifted his hand in an appeasing fashion.

SHERIFF: You don’t have to be afraid of me. I’m not with him. I just want to help."

At this point, Erin had made her way to where the action was. She raced straight to the jeep.

ERIN: Get in! We gotta go!

The Sheriff regarded her with some shock and confusion and then looked back at Heather.

SHERIFF: I’m not leaving anyone behind. You heard the girl, it’s time to go.

Before the Sheriff could say more, Victor burst from the brush. The Sheriff quickly grabbed his gun but Victor’s monstrous blade decapitated him in one brutal swing.

HEATHER: You bastard!

She snatched up the Sheriff’s fallen pistol and fired immediately upon Victor. He toppled over into the murky water. Heather approached his body cautiously, her breath heavy. She gritted her teeth.

HEATHER: You better stay down, you son of a—

But Victor's eyes snapped open. With a guttural roar, he rose up and drove the hatchet she planted into his back straight through her chest.

Erin jumped into the driver’s seat of the jeep and floored the gas pedal. She slammed it into Victor. His body thudded underneath the tires. He started to rise and she hit him again. And again. And again. Mud, blood, and swamp water splattered the windshield.

Finally, Victor’s body was motionless.

Erin stepped out and ran over to Heather. She cradled her as she choked out her last breaths.

HEATHER:...Look after my cousin. He shouldn’t be alone…

Erin’s face contorted with rage and sorrow.

HOST CHECK=IN

Randy Meeks stood next to Elvira with his chest puffed out. His confidence as a host had clearly grown with each passing match.

RANDY: And there you have it, folks! Erin Hardesty with the win…and what a win it was!

Elvira shook her head and then leaned forward.

ELVIRA: I just keep thinking about the end. I mean, what a final request! 'Look after my cousin'? Really? She says that to Erin of all people. Awkward much?

Randy shrugged.

RANDY: People can say some weird shit when they are facing death.

ELVIRA: I must say, though, if I’m ever on a road trip through some frightening terrain, I want Erin behind the wheel. What a killer!

Randy nodded in agreement.

RANDY: Let’s also talk about that sheriff. Shows up trying to be the hero, only to be... well, you know. Just goes to show, how you handle bystanders can not only affect the outcome for you but for them as well. This sort of thing matters in this world.

ELVIRA: Absolutely. But this match has now passed. Let's get to our final Final Girl Faceoff of Round One.

RANDY: We have, from the worst sleepover in the history of the Delta Alpha Kappa sorority, Kelli Presley, going against the newly divorced potential sacrifice of a demon serving family, Grace Le Domas!

ELVIRA: I would think any sleepover in a Sorority House would be a nightmare from which there is no escape, and whom amongst hasn’t wondered if our in laws are in a secret pact with Hell.

RANDY: Before we dive in some more on our two Final Girls, I feel the need to address the elephant in the room:

ELVIRA: Please do.

RANDY: I feel like there are plenty of people wondering where are Laurie? Ripley? Sarah Connor? And trust me I get it. They are absolute legends, each one of them. But there are only so many slots for so many amazing Final Girls.

ELVIRA: Yeah, yeah, pitchforks down, folks!

RANDY: Just as in the case of Tina Shepard, not every great Final Girl is a clean fit for the bracket. But also just like Tina, they will all get their chance to shine before this tournament is done. I guarantee you.

ELVIRA: For now, let us cast our eyes on our current contenders.

RANDY: Keli Presley was just your typical sorority girl staying at her sorority house. Unfortunately for her it was once occupied by a crazy young killer by the name of Billy who was now back on the scene. Yet, Keli proved herself to be much more than the sorority girl stereotype when she not only survived the killing spree, but also took down both Billy and his disfigured sister… uh daughter… uh Agnes.

ELVIRA: This matchup is just full of freaky families.

RANDY: Speaking of freaky families, when Grace married into the Le Domas family she ended up getting much more than she bargained for. Turns out the wealthy elites amassed their fortune when one of their ancestors made a deal with a demon named Le Bail. Now to satisfy that deal every new member of the family was forced to play a game that usually resulted in them being sacrificed. Grace survived. And was the only person not to be exploded by the sun.

ELVIRA: I was thinking she should probably go back to her maiden name, but as the only Le Domas still standing there is some money to be made… if she goes back for her ring.

RANDY: It’s like I always say, every rich family has skeletons in their closet, and sometimes it’s literal.

ELVIRA: Randy, tell them about tonight’s challenge for Grace and Kelli.

RANDY: Like you observed earlier, these two Final Girls are connected, not only by being put in dangerous situations in a space they couldn’t walk away from, but also by being exposed to some messed up families. So why not combine the two.

Elvira perked up.

RANDY: As we speak, Kelli and Grace are being driven to Ruggsville, where they will be dropped off at a somewhat infamous tourist trap outside of town and will have to survive the night with the Firefly Family.

Elvira’s eyes lit up.

ELVIRA: It’s guaranteed to be quite the spectacle. Enjoy the show, boils and ghouls.

CAPTAIN SPAULDING'S MUSEUM OF MONSTERS AND MADMEN

Kelli and Grace arrived at a rundown gas station connected to a bizarre roadside attraction, Captain Spaulding’s Museum of Monsters and Madmen. Kelli observed the dark clouds forming above them.

KELLI: Because of course there’s a storm.

Grace frowned at the grimy, dilapidated building in front of them.

The owner and proprietor of the establishment made his presence known and greeted the Final Girls in his cracked clown makeup and rotted yellow teeth.

CAPTAIN SPAULDING: Howdy folks! Welcome, welcome! Y’all ready for some fun?

Grace folded her arms.

GRACE: I didn’t know what to expect. But this… this is our challenge?

Spaulding let out a chuckle that thinly veiled its dark overtones.

SPAULDING: Naw... your real fun’s waitin’ down the road. Farmhouse. Real cozy.

He grinned at the ladies.

SPAULDING: But hey. You sure you don’t wanna see the sights first? We’ve got an alligator boy and my famous Murder Ride. As the only ones here I could give you both the  VIP treatment!

KELLI: Pass.

GRACE: Yeah. We'll face whatever’s ahead—head-on.

Captain Spaulding scoffed.

SPAULDING:  Suit yourselves. Shame. Could be your last chance for a laugh.

He tossed them a tattered map with directions to their destination. He chuckled again.

SPAULDING: Y’all be careful now. That farmhouse? Folks there just love company. So much, you may never leave.

GRACE: I’ll take my chances.

The women turned and headed down the road. Spaulding's face contorted into a scowl as he watched them leave.

KELLI: Should we have asked him more about what is waiting for us in that farmhouse?

GRACE: Something that wants to kill us I’m sure. I don’t know how helpful he would have been even if we had asked him more questions, He seemed like a real creep,

It has been nice seeing ladies get the attention. Especially non popular comic ladies.
