Match 21323 Zam Wessell vs. Divatox

From her apartment window, Zam Wessell looked out over the city of Coruscant.  She had been to the capital planet many times before, so the sight of the towering buildings and crisscrossing speeders didn’t leave her as spellbound as most visitors.  But now they couldn’t even get her mind off her frustrations. 

She had just finished a bounty for the Hutts.  Some fool Dug had failed to pay off his gambling debts.  It only took Zam 2 days to track him down and put blaster bolt through his skull.  But the bounty barely paid for her room.  One day she would force them to give her the respect she deserved; to be as feared as Jango was. 

There was beeping noise from a satchel on the bed.  Zam walked over, pulled out a holoprojector, and set it on an end table. 

“This is Zam.  Verify.” 

The holoprojector switched on and projected the blue image of a tall figure with a long neck.  Zam’s eyes narrowed as the figure bowed. 

“What is this?” 

“Greetings, Mistress Zam Wessell.  My name is Taun We and I have an offer for you to consider.” 

“Never mind your offer!  The signal to connect to this holoprojector is encrypted.  How do you know the access code?” 

“Through a mutual friend: Jango Fett.” 

This news did very little to ease Zam Wessell’s suspicions, but Taun We went on in her smooth voice. 

“I assure you, Mistress Wessell, I do not desire to deceive you.  I wish to employ your unique services.  And we are more than prepared to pay for them.” 

“If you know Jango, why not ask him?” 

“Normally we would.  But Master Fett has been called away on… business.  And due to the urgency of this matter, we feel it would best not to wait.” 

Zam folded her arms and took a step closer to the projector.  “Very well then.  What’s the target?” 

Taun We nodded towards something out of the holoprojector’s range, and her image was replaced by a large structure suspended over a stormy sea. 

“This is our home world Kamino,” said Taun We offscreen.  “And our capital Tipoca City.  Two weeks ago, our city came under attack by a craft of unknown origin and design.  They fired upon us with torpedoes and deployed troops to ransack the city.” 

The holoprojector showed the image of armored fish-faced soldiers blasting at consoles and strange looking creatures attacking Kaminoans.  Taun We continued as Zam sat in a chair to view the carnage. 

“The raiding party disappeared before our security could apprehend them.  They have since committed three further assaults on the city, committing acts of theft and planting bombs to cover their escape.  Following the most recent attack our Council received this message from the leader of these pirates.” 

The image shifted to a shaky camera shot of a woman in a strange mask.  She appeared to be barking instructions at whoever was holding the camera. 

“Hold it steady, Elgar!  And be sure to get my good side!  I mean, they’re all good, but I won’t settle for looking bad for my demands!” 

“Uh, no problem, Auntie Divatox!  But… what does that red light mean?” 

“What red…?  Elgar!  You idiot!  You’ve started recording before I was ready!” 

“Oops!  Heh heh.  Sorry, Auntie Divatox.  Do you want to do another take?” 

“Oh, forget it!  Keep rolling!  Ahem.  Hello, my dear victims!  It is I, Divatox!  The Beautiful Queen of Evil and Darkness!  And also, the lady that’s going to blow your precious city sky high if you don’t give me what I want!  So let’s be reasonable about this, ok?  I don’t want to be stuck on this soggy rock more than I have to, and I’m sure you don’t want me to turn your town into a pool toy.  So, if you want to avoid certain destruction, I want every precious object you’ve got.  Gold, diamonds, jewels, cash, credits cards, you know the deal.  Either that, or I push the button and turn your city into a memory.  Think about it! Bwahaha!  Viva la Diva!  Okay.  I felt good about that one.  After they see that those dumb looking aliens are bound to give me anything to save their…” 

“Auntie Divatox?” 

“What, Elgar?!  I’m gloating!  Can’t you see I… You dolt!  It’s still recording!  Give me that camera, you stupid…!” 

The image faded into static, and Taun We stood in it’s place.  Zam laughed humorlessly.  “Not exactly the most brilliant raiders I’ve ever seen.” 

“Despite their clear instability, the Council is certain they have the tools necessary to carry out their threat.  The last explosion nearly did serious damage to the laboratory.” 

“And just what was in the laboratory?” 

Taun We looked confused.  Zam rose up from her chair.  “This Divatox must have some idea of what valuables your people have.  Perhaps it’s something in your laboratory…?” 

“What’s in the laboratory,” interrupted Taun We.  “Is none of your concern.  If you are able to eliminate Divatox the Council is to prepared to pay you a fee equal to what was paid to Jango Fett for his previous assistance to the Kaminoan people: 500,000 credits.” 

“1 million.” 

Zam Wessell smirked as Taun We’s eyes widened.  “Give me twice what you’d pay Jango, and I’ll take care of your Divatox problem.  1 million, or no deal.” 

Taun We looked offscreen, then nodded.  “Very well, Mistress Wessell.  You will be paid 1 million credits.  Provided that Divatox is eliminated.” 

 

OK:

Fight takes place on Kamino. 

Both have their usual tech and abilities. 

Whoever kills the other wins.

This was quite humorous. A Power Rangers/Star Wars crossover wasn't something I considered but I think it can work well. I would like to give Divatox her first win, but I can't in good conscience. The changeling for the win.

(finally) THE BOTTOM LINE

Report from Taun We to Prime Minister Lama Su.  

Damage to the northwest corridor is well on it's way to being repaired.  Our surveillance has been recovered, and we are now fully aware of the events that led to the defeat of Divatox's forces.  

Mistress Wessell had infiltrated the attack squad of Pirhanatrons by killing one, stealing it's army, and shape shifting her appearance.  Disguised as a Pirhanatron, she proceeded to blast several of the creatures, creating confusion for Divatox's nephew Elgar.  

In his panic Elgar began to fire at all the Pirhanatrons which drew Divatox into the fray.  As she began to lambast her nephew Mistress Wessell delivered a kill shot to Divatox.  The blast struck her right in left eye.    

In shock, Elgar attempted to rally his forces to kill Mistress Wessell.  But it was that moment that Jango Fett appeared and fired a missile that eliminated the rest of threat.  Apparently he was finally within range of your distress call and made best speed to Kamino to assist us.  

It is unfortunate that Mistress Wessell needed to be eliminated by Master Fett, as well.  But you must understand, Prime Minister, that while she was investigating the sites where Divatox had attacked she had uncovered our cloning facilities.  Master Sifo-Dyas would not want his army to be known before they are ready.  Master Fett did say that with Zam Wessell dead he would now have to find another bounty hunter for a mission on Coruscant.  But the affairs of bounty hunters are none of our concern.  We are building the future of the Republic.
