FINAL GIRL FACE-OFF

ROUND 2: MATCH 1

rs_1024x759-220526130938-_NancyNancy-Thomson.jpg.4b069158b6b13622b785cb9096d770f3.jpg

CONTINUED FROM THIS.

SUMMARY: For the first match of the second round of the Final Girl Face-Off, Nancy Wheeler and Nancy Thompson have been whisked away to Derry, Maine to face off against Pennywise. Both Final Girls have been given two familiar faces (Mike Wheeler and Robin for Nancy W. / Taryn and Roland for Nancy T.) as well as two members of the Losers Club aged a few years after their first defeat of IT (Mike Hanlon and Richie for Nancy T. / Ben and Beverly for Nancy W.). Each Nancy must lead their team to either last the longest or defeat Pennywise the quickest.

DERRY PUBLIC LIBRARY (ARCHIVES)

The towering bookshelves cast long shadows under the flickering fluorescent lights. A large wooden table near the back is cluttered with open books, old newspapers, and hastily scribbled notes. Nancy Wheeler leaned forward, flipping through a yellowed newspaper while Robin Buckley sat across from her, idly twirling a pen between her fingers.

ROBIN: You know, I’ve been thinking… Pennywise is supposed to come back every 27 years, right? But it’s been, what, way less than that? Something’s off.

NANCY WHEELER: I don’t think it’s a mistake. The tournament organizers probably forced IT awake. Like, knocked it out of its cycle.

Robin grimaced.

ROBIN: Great. Love that. People playing god with an interdimensional nightmare clown.

Nancy shrugged.

NANCY WHEELER: At least this way we get a shot at killing IT. Think about it. If we win, no more kids in Derry have to live in fear. Ever.

Robin stared at Nancy, smirked and shook her head.

ROBIN: You’re way too good at this monster-hunting thing, Wheeler. Remind me never to get on your bad side.

Nancy let out a small chuckle, then glanced around. Her expression changed.

NANCY WHEELER: Have you seen Mike?

Robin swung her head from left to right.

ROBIN: No. He was here like five minutes ago.

Nancy pushed away from the table and quickly stood up.

NANCY WHEELER: He wouldn’t just wander off. Help me look.

They began scanning the library. A few tables away, Ben Hanscom and Beverly Marsh sat close together. Beverly rubbed her arms with her eyes downcast.

BEVERLY: I hate this. Fighting Pennywise over and over. It’s exhausting. Feels like we’ll never be free of it.

Ben did his best to console her.

BEN:  We’ve beaten it before. We can do it again.

BEVERLY: Yeah, but it never feels final. I just… I have to hold on to something good. Something that gives me hope.

She smiled faintly, looking up at Ben.

BEVERLY: Like that poem Bill wrote me when we were kids.

Ben hesitated. The words were at the tip of his tongue, the truth was right there. That the poem was his, not Bill’s. But before he could speak, Nancy and Robin approached.

NANCY WHEELER: Hey, have you guys seen Mike?

BEN: No, sorry. He was just here, though.

A look of concern spread across Beverly’s face.

BEVERLY: You think Pennywise got to him?

Nancy didn’t answer, she was already moving.

DERRY PUBLIC LIBRARY (PERIODICALS)

Mike Wheeler stood alone, staring at an old photograph. It was He and Eleven smiling back at him, frozen in time. His mind was heavy with doubt.

A voice spoke up behind him.

MAX: Pretty sad, Mike.

Mike turned sharply. Max Mayfield stood a few feet away, arms crossed, her expression unreadable.

MIKE WHEELER: Max? How did you—?

MAX: You weren’t there, Mike. When Vecna came for me. You weren’t there for any of them.

She glared at him.

MAX: Do you even care about anyone other than Eleven?

Mike opened his mouth, but no words came out. Max tilted her head, her eyes darkened.

MAX:  Y’know, it’s gonna be really sad when she leaves you. Which she will. Because you’re just… a loser.

Her voice distorted. The corners of her lips stretched too wide.

MAX/PENNYWISE: But don’t worry. In the end, you and Eleven can share my fate! You can float too!

The last words came out in Pennywise’s voice, layered and grotesque. Mike stumbled backward as Max’s face twisted, her eyes lit up with a dead white glow. Her mouth opened wide to reveal rows of jagged teeth.

NANCY WHEELER: Mike!

Nancy and Robin burst in through the door. Pennywise let out a hideous laugh and vanished. Mike gasped, gripping the shelf behind him.

ROBIN: Well, that’s nightmare fuel.

Nancy stood beside Mike and gripped his shoulders.

NANCY WHEELER: Mike! Are you okay?

Mike nodded, clearly still shook.

MIKE WHEELER: We need to end this. Fast.

NEIBOLT STREET

The Well House loomed.  Its decayed exterior practically breathed with ill intent. Nancy Thompson and her team stood before it. Mike Hanlon gestured toward the crumbling structure.

MIKE HANLON: This is where it started. The first time we faced IT.

RICHIE TOZIER: Yeah, it made too much sense IT would shack up here. This place is a junkie paradise.

Fellow Dream Warrior, Taryn White, turned to Nancy.

TARYN WHITE: Are we going in?

Nancy hesitated. Her fingers tightened around the strap of her shotgun.

NANCY THOMPSON: I don’t know yet. I wanted to see it for myself first. I don’t want to rush in without a plan.

The other Dream Warrior in their group, Roland, looked up and down the street where they stood.

ROLAND: Whatever we do, let’s do it fast. This whole town gives me the creeps.

He glanced over at Mike Hanlon.

ROLAND: No offense.

Mike Hanlon shook his head.

MIKE HANLON: None taken. You’re right to feel that way.

A new voice interrupted them.

PENNYWISE: My, my. Guests? And I didn’t even set the table.

They whirled around. Pennywise loomed over the house’s entrance, dressed as a demented chef with a wide grin. The malevolent entity focused on Mike Hanlon and Richie.

PENNYWISE: Looks like I can add some classic recipes.

He then turned to the Dream Warriors.

PENNYWISE: But don’t worry! There’s always room for new flavors.

With a theatrical flourish, he lifted the lid off a silver platter. revealing a writhing pile of worms and maggots.

PENNYWISE: Dig in.

Pennywise disappeared into the haunted estate.

Nancy Thompson didn't flinch. She turned to Mike Hanlon.

NANCY THOMPSON: If we do this, we should skip the front door and go through the sewers, right?

MIKE HANLON: It’s the only way to end IT.

Richie Tozier grinned.

RICHIE: And Lucky for us, this time we’ve got three pros at dreamland monster-slaying. Right, Nancy?

Nancy Thompson nodded.

NANCY THOMPSON: Then let’s get ready.

DERRY PUBLIC LIBRARY (BACK TABLE)

Nancy Wheeler, Robin, Ben, Beverly, and Mike Wheeler gathered around to plan their assault. Nancy turned to Ben and Beverly

NANCY WHEELER: Tell us everything about your last fight with Pennywise. Every detail.

Robin flipped open a notebook, ready to write.

ROBIN: I love homework that involves clown murder.

Ben exhaled and began speaking. He and Beverly explained about their fight in the sewer and IT’s dead lights. When they were done, Robin looked over her notes.

ROBIN: So, is the plan to follow this formula again since it worked before?

NANCY WHEELER: Some parts of it. But we can’t just do everything the same. I would assume IT has learned from its last defeat. We need to be smart.

Mike Wheeler nodded, and a thought suddenly came to him.

MIKE WHEELER: I know this is a bad time, but Nancy—are you sure you don’t want to try Dungeons and Dragons? You are really good at strategizing.

Nancy scoffed with annoyance.

NANCY WHEELER: Mike, focus.

I really want the battle of Nancys to count in posterity not just for the tournament but also for the characters. So, I have essentially reposted it but added more to it, so the two setups can work in tandem.

This is a tough one. On one hand Nancy has proven quite tough. On the other Nancy has proven herself time and time again. I am leaning towards Nancy lol

Good job, Johnny. I know I rated it this time
