THE SERPENT WARS

 

 

Serpents have slithered through the myths and legends of humanity since the dawn of civilization. To the Egyptians, they were both protectors and harbingers of chaos, embodied by Wadjet and Apep. In Norse mythology, Jörmungandr, the World Serpent, lay coiled around Midgard, destined to rise at Ragnarok. The Aztecs revered Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent god of wisdom and wind. Across cultures, serpents have symbolized power, transformation, and the thin line between salvation and destruction.

It was that very power that Wrath-Amon sought to harness. Standing atop the altar of Set in his grand citadel, the sorcerer gazed into the swirling vortex of his dimensional portal. His red robe flapped in the wind; his green scaled armor glistened under the dim torchlight. His yellow eyes glowed with sinister intent as he raised the Black Ring high.

"The time has come! By the will of mighty Set, I shall forge the greatest serpent army the multiverse has ever known!"

His voice boomed through the chamber, causing his assembled warriors to bow in reverence. 

"No longer shall we be confined to one world. We shall travel across dimensions, bringing the will of Set to all! Our first conquest lay before us, a force of soldiers who foolishly revere the serpent yet lack the power to truly embody its strength!"

With a slash of his clawed hand, the portal pulsated with dark energy, and Wrath-Amon stepped through. The swirling abyss spat him out into an unfamiliar world, one of metal fortresses and rolling battlefields. It did not take long for him to find his first prey. A Cobra patrol unit moved through the dense jungle, their weapons at the ready, oblivious to the shadow lurking above them.

Wrath-Amon descended upon them. 

"Kneel before the true master of serpents!" he bellowed. 

He and his Serpent Men attacked the soldiers. Before the Cobra patrol could counterattack, a blast of sickly green light engulfed them. Wrath-Amon shot them with his Black Ring. Their screams were brief, their forms twisted and convulsed as their flesh hardened into green scales. When the light faded, the Cobra troopers were gone, replaced by monstrous serpent warriors, their eyes devoid of humanity.

Over the next few weeks, the pattern continued. Cobra units patrolling the perimeter of their territories were ambushed and vanished. Only to return as fanatical servants under Wrath-Amon’s command. Whispers spread through the ranks of Cobra: an unseen force was turning their own against them. The news finally reached Serpentor, the genetically engineered emperor of Cobra. Seated upon his throne, draped in his regal golden serpent armor, he listened intently as Dr. Mindbender detailed the growing crisis.

"My lord Serpentor, we are dealing with a force unlike any we have encountered before," Mindbender said as he adjusted his monocle. "These transformations are not the result of science or genetic tampering—it is sorcery!"

Serpentor's snake-like eyes narrowed as he scoffed. "Sorcery? Such primitive nonsense.”

"I deal in science, but even I must admit there are forces beyond our understanding,” said Mindbender. “This Wrath-Amon, as he is called, wields magic, and we need to take his threat very seriously."

Serpentor clenched his fist. "Then we must crush this pretender before he takes more of my forces! Tell me, Mindbender, can you undo his accursed transformations?"

Mindbender stroked his chin. "It will not be easy. Magic is not something I can simply reprogram. But if we capture the Black Ring off his finger, I may be able to devise a countermeasure."

Before Serpentor could respond, the doors to the throne room burst open. A Cobra grunt rushed inside, panting. 

"My lord! Wrath-Amon and his army are advancing toward the stronghold! They will be upon us before the next morning.!"

Serpentor rose to his full height, his emerald cape framed his armor. 

"Then the battle is upon us! This interloper dares to challenge the might of Cobra. He will find only destruction!"

Mindbender clasped his hands together. "With all the military prowess that went into your creation, I have no doubt you will lead us to victory."

Serpentor turned to his commanders. "Deploy the H.I.S.S. tanks, the Rattlers, and the Battle Android Troopers! I want every available weapon ready to repel this sorcerer and his wretched spawn! We shall drown them in steel and fire!"

As the Cobra forces began preparations, Wrath-Amon stood atop a jagged mountain ridge. He gazed down at the fortress below. His army of Serpent Men, both original and transformed Cobra soldiers stood behind him, their reptilian forms hissed in anticipation.

"Behold! This shall be the first of many conquests!" Wrath-Amon declared. "This “technology” of Cobra will serve Set’s will, and those who resist shall be remade in my image!"

Never saw the 90's Conan cartoon so I never heard of Wrath-Amon. This match sounds like Serpentors' sort of battle, planning and commanding troops.

Wrath-Amon would crush him head to head as he has battle Conan and his allies who are all on Serpentor's strength level. He my be a bit unstable but Serpentor is a master strategist and I think he can outmaneuver Wrath-Amon in a military campaign. Especially since has an idea of what he's up against.

Serpentor wins it for me.

A good matchup of snake-themed animated villains, Johnny. 

It's been a long time since I've watched episodes of Conan, so I think I'll have to do some extra research on Wrath-Amon before I vote.
