FINAL GIRL FACE-OFF

BONUS MATCH #6

Bonus6.jpg.6673f37d1b99ffd7c0b23b0cd432979a.jpg

PAIGE MATTHEWS VS. TATUM RILEY RESULTS

ABANDONED WAREHOUSE

Paige, Piper, and Phoebe Matthews stood in the center of a smoldering circle of runes. A demon, hulking and red-skinned, let out a final roar as a spell cast by the Charmed Ones caused it to explode. Its body shattered into black ash

PIPER: That’s the last one, right?

PHOEBE: Unless Hell has a Groupon.

Paige wiped sweat from her forehead and exhaled.

PAIGE: Good job, ladies. This one took us a while. We should hit P3, celebrate a little.

Phoebe and her older sister exchanged smiles, but Paige did not share their enthusiasm.

PAIGE: I can't. I haven't checked on Tatum lately. I've been so wrapped up in this demon hunt... she’s still my charge.

PHOEBE: We understand.

PIPER: Go. We’ll save you a drink.

Paige nodded and orbed away in bright white lights.

TATUM RILEY'S BEDROOM

Tatum paced, arms crossed, occasionally glancing out the window. Her cellphone rang. Caller ID: "Stacey." Tatum, wrapped up in her own mind, did not immediately answer.

TATUM: Guardian angel watching my back on one side, death personified hunting me down on the other. Sometimes I don’t get it. Am I supposed to be alive or not?

Unable to answer her own vexing question, she instead answered her phone.

TATUM: Hey.

STACEY: You coming out or what? We’re all meeting up at Lindsey’s. Nothing crazy. Just pizza and movies.

TATUM: Paige told me to lay low. Last time I left the house I nearly got impaled by a ladder.

STACEY: Tatum, it’s been two weeks. What’s the point of surviving death if you’re not going to live your life? Plus, this Paige girl can just teleport in and save you if something happens again, right?

Tatum hesitated. Then she sighed.

TATUM: Fine. I’ll come by. But you guys owe me extra cheese. And we don’t leave the house.

She hung up and grabbed her keys and purse. As she checked her appearance in the bathroom, a bizarre Rube Goldberg-like chain of accidents began. A hair dryer hummed to life from a faulty outlet and knocked a bottle off a shelf. The bottle spilled onto a slick floor. Tatum slipped backward and crashed into a towel rack. The rod dislodged and hit a nearby scented candle. The flame rolled along the towel, igniting a small fire within the bathroom. Tatum tried to regain her balance but slipped again and struck her head against the counter. She fell unconscious, as smoke filled the room.

By the time Paige orbed in the fire had spread outside the restroom. Paige hurriedly orbed the fire extinguisher into her hands and put out the flames. There she found Tatum, pale, motionless. Paige desperately tried to use her whitelighter abilities to heal her, but it was too late.

PAIGE: Tatum! No, no no...

Paige choked back tears as she cradled her. Several moments later Leo also orbed into the room.

LEO: Paige...

PAIGE: Leo, I failed. She needed me, and I was too late.

LEO: This isn’t your fault.

PAIGE: Then whose is it?! What kind of test is this? Why give me a charge I can’t save?

Leo had no answers, just a sad knowing silence.

HOST CHECK-IN

Elvira sat upon her couch and smirked. Randy Meeks slouched beside her, visibly bummed.

ELVIRA: Well, that didn’t end well. I would have told you selling your soul to give Tatum another shot wouldn’t work out.

RANDY: I honestly thought she had a chance. I figured I was doing a good thing. I was really rooting for her, and I know I’m not the only one.

Elvira shrugged nonchalantly.

RANDY: And Paige... yikes. I thought the Charmed Ones were unbeatable

ELVIRA: Paige couldn’t keep her safe and alive for three weeks. Not exactly glowing angel reviews.

RANDY: I’m gonna need a pick-me-up. Luckily... I think our next bonus match might do it.

ELVIRA: Bring on the badass babes.

RANDY: Our contenders for the sixth bonus match are Maureen Epps, a ship salvager from the crew of the Arctic Warrior, and army veteran, Crystal May Creasey.

ELVIRA: Oh, I like this. Epps survived a haunted ocean liner, the Antonia Garza, and the demonic soul salvager, Jack Ferriman.  Crystal survived a literal manhunt while taking down the corrupt elite with her bare hands.

RANDY: They didn't quite make it into the main tournament of Final Girls, but everyone was in agreement that they deserved a stage to show off their impressive survival skills.

ELVIRA: So where are we sending these two no-nonsense ladies to test those skills?

RANDY: Antonio Bay.

Elvira’s eyes widened.

ELVIRA: Ooooh. Fog, ghosts, revenge, and a ship full of pissed-off lepers. Talk about atmosphere. Boils and ghouls, you are in for an experience.

RANDY: Tonight is the town's anniversary, and Captain Blake is back for vengeance. Epps and Crystal will need to survive the night and protect one of the descendants of Antonio Bay’s founders from his wrath.

ELVIRA: Let the fog roll in.

ANTONIO BAY

The thick coastal fog crawled across the shore. Weathered Victorian homes lined the cliffs above. A lighthouse blinked through the mist.

Maureen Epps stepped out of a black SUV, eyeing the mist with suspicion.

MAUREEN: Great. From ghost ships to ghost towns.

Crystal stepped out of a separate vehicle, decked out in a utility jacket and combat boots

CRYSTAL: Dragged against my will into another backwater revenge plot. Peachy.

They both arrived at a small-town hall where a cheerful local woman waved them inside

LOCAL WOMAN: Welcome to Antonio Bay. Tonight is a night for celebration as it is the town's founding anniversary. However, There's a... legend. You should know about it.

She walked them through an old mural depicting a shipwreck.

LOCAL WOMAN: In the 1800s there was a wealthy ship captain named Captain Blake. He and his crew were lepers. They wanted to start a colony where you are standing now. Our ancestors, the founders of Antonio Bay. . they betrayed them. Lured their ship into the rocks. Stole their gold. Blake and his men died at sea. And our ancestors used that gold to build this town.

MAUREEN: Lemme guess. Now they are coming back as spirits to kill people for revenge.

LOCAL WOMAN: Exactly. And I’m a direct descendant of the original council, so I am top of the list.

CRYSTAL: So, our job here is to babysit you while cursed pirates stalk us through thick fog. Got it.

The woman nodded nervously.

MAUREEN: If we work together, we can get through this.

LOCAL WOMAN: A pleasant thought, but the odds of all three of us surviving this night are quite slim. I have resigned myself to the fact that I might not see the sun again but I hope to last through the night with at least one of you. I willfully put my life in your hands.

Fog crept through the cracks in the windows. A ship bell tolled in the distance.
