CLASH OF CROWS

Jinx2.jpg.8415cb8ccbdde8669d47499ae1fe4d71.jpg

The Hexgate burst with a scream of blue light that ripped open reality in a jagged tear and transported Jinx, complete with guns, pigtails, and manic grin through space and time. She crashed hard onto the stone courtyard in a strange, towering city. A wild laugh escaped from her lips even as smoke steamed from her boots. Her electric-blue braids fanned across her shoulders, and her eyes shimmered with an unhinged sparkle.

This new place smelled of ozone and metal, a sterile cityscape layered over something ancient and humming. Amongst the mechanical architecture, Jinx took note of a sign. Welcome to Kagutsuchi.

Jinx stood and dusted herself off. Her lanky form twitched with leftover static from the jump. She stared wide-eyed at the sky as a massive floating structure drifted overhead like a whale made of stone and steel.

"Well," she muttered, "that was a ride."

Despite the unforeseen destination of her journey, Jinx was more than ready to make a new life for herself. She wanted to leave behind the trauma of her past once and for all, and she soon discovered there was much more to Kagutsuchi than the Piltoveresque port area she had crashed into. There was the uniqueness of Orient Town, and an area called Lost Town that was inhabited by a chaotic race of cat people that greatly amused Jinx. She mostly frequented the alleys of Bascule, a dingy sector that reminded Jinx of Zaun. Every night she wandered its layered streets, sometimes skipping, sometimes crawling across rooftops. She watched the soldiers of the Novus Orbis Librarium in their stiff uniforms patrol the area like they were Piltover Enforcers. The reminder made her stomach twist. The struggle between the haves and have nots was too familiar. This was supposed to be a new world.

Jinx eventually found a rusted-out lab shell near the edge of the mountain that held the cauldron. It was a place people whispered about but rarely approached. It pulsed with something familiar... like shimmer, but older. She liked it. Dangerous things felt like home.

She painted the walls with swirling monkeys, explosions, and distorted memories. One mural showed her and Vi under a Zaunite moon, another depicted a monstrous Vander, fangs bared, half-beast. There was an illustration of Silco. In the far corner was Isha, her smile forever preserved in blue paint. She thought back to the N.O.L. soldiers she had seen.

"I’m done with wars," Jinx told her reflection.

Hazama.jpg.d10da5c544a147ecc498b54348f21e92.jpg

The announcement came through a floating projection: A lavish celebration at the N.O.L. branch headquarters in Kagutsuchi to honor peace and progress. A man in a fedora and snake-green hair delivered it with a grin.

It was Hazama, a captain in the N.O.L.

He practically oozed charisma through the screen, his movements syrupy-smooth, his words wrapped in false cheer.

"Come one, come all! Let’s party like the world's not one bad decision away from collapse!"

Jinx squinted at the image as she twirled a wrench between her fingers. Something fun and lively, how could she resist.

Disappointment hit Jinx hard as she watched preparations for the event from a perched location. Streamers, polished chrome banners, and blue-suited soldiers mumbling through parade rehearsals. The whole thing screamed Piltover party: uptight, shiny, fake. Jinx’s need and desire to liven up the festivities was too strong. She decided not to do a deadly attack on the N,O.L’s self-congratulatory circle jerk, just a lighthearted prank. One that would get all of Kagutsuchi talking but not make her public enemy number one. Or so she thought.

The night of the celebration, paint bombs erupted like fireworks, and splattered bright fuchsia and neon green across the marble steps and crystal banners. Giant mechanical monkeys, built from scrap, danced in mock salute. They tossed glitter bombs and laughed in looped recordings of Jinx’s own cackle.

Hazama stood in the chaos, hands clasped behind his back, and a painted mustache on his cheek. He smiled. His anarchy loving heart was entertained by this unexpected performance, but he needed to keep up appearances.

A group of N.O.L. soldiers quickly approached him awaiting his command.

Hazama turned slowly. “Someone must be held accountable. Can’t have reckless actions without consequences.”

Jinx watched footage of her stunt from her hideout. She hung upside down, sipped a soda, and admired the photo she snapped of the mustache painted on Hazama’s face.

She didn’t even hear Bullet, the former Mercenary Squad leader, approach until Bullet’s heavy footsteps echoed through the ruined lab. Bullet was a voluptuous woman with spiky gray hair that still wore her old squad’s uniform.

"Nice work," Bullet stated. "That party needed color."

Jinx raised an eyebrow. "And you are...?"

"Not N.O.L. I’m with Sector Seven. Just someone who hates those fascist bastards as much as you do," Bullet declared.

Jinx shrugged and flipped backside up. "Don’t know what you’re talking about. I was just redecorating."

Bullet smirked. "They’ll come for you. If I was able to find you, so will they."

"Let ‘em try. I’ve been dodging uniforms since I was knee-high to a chem barrel."

Bullet tossed a small metal card onto the table. "You’ve got talent. Real genius is evident. Sector Seven could use someone like you."

Jinx scoffed. "No more causes. No more sides."

"Suit yourself. But if you change your mind, that card links to me."

Although she had no desire to join their cause, Jinx did take Bullet’s warning seriously and made preparations to protect herself should the N.O.L. come knocking.

Elsewhere, within a secure chamber lined with red velvet curtains and massive data screens, Kagura Mutsuki, a colonel within the N.O.L., leaned back in his chair and sipped wine. His dark hair framed a chiseled face.

"This party prank," he said. "It wasn’t Sector Seven, was it?"

Hibiki Kohaku, his dutiful subordinate, stood beside him, dressed in the N.O.L.'s dark ceremonial uniform,

"It doesn't align with their style. Too playful."

Kagura chuckled. "Definitely not Kokonoe’s brand of sabotage. No, this smells of an unaffiliated agent. A wild card."

"Then I’ll find the culprit," Hibiki said as he bowed slightly. "So, you can focus on more pressing matters."

Kagura grinned. "That's my guy."

It took him a while, but eventually Hibiki found the perpetrator’s trail. Splotches of neon paint and fragments of tech that shouldn’t work in this world. It led him down into the guts of the city, close to the cauldron’s edge.

Inside Jinx’s lair, a murder of black crows flew in, came together, and then took the form of Hibiki. The soldier and highly skilled assassin stepped around carefully, surrounded by madness and memory. Crayon murals depicted scenes too personal for him to understand, but clear enough to grab his attention.

Then Hibiki heard her voice.

"Y’know... I’ve been around crows all my life. First time they turned into a man. Kinda makes me wonder."

Hibiki turned but saw no one. He took a cautious step. Click.

A mine detonated in a burst of blue flame. Hibiki blurred away in a flash of crow feathers and reached the other side of the room unharmed.

Jinx emerged with her Hextech pistol in hand, and her minigun, Pow-Pow, strapped over her shoulder.

"Oooo, you’re fast. This might actually be fun."

Hibiki remained stoic and professional as ever. "Turn yourself in. We can settle this peacefully."

Jinx laughed. "Is that right? Well, you’re in my house now. And I never play nice."

Hibiki slipped into a fighting stance, his cloak fluttered behind him.

"Then I will bring you in... one way or another."

Think Hibiki has this due to superior speed and reaction time, teleportation, lethality, and superior durability. Jinx might be able to do something if she catches him completely off guard due to being crazy, but I kind of doubt it.

Does he have superior speed and reaction time? A Shimmered-up Jinx was depicted as extremely fast throughout the show and was shown to be quick on her feet to avoid attacks.

His fighting style is extremely fast paced in a game where characters already move fast enough as it is, and on top of that he has teleportation and leaves after images. I think it's safe to say he's faster than quite a few characters in Blazblue which through scaling should put him solidly above Jinx. Of course, due to it being a fighting game feats are a bit wonky, so a case for Jinx can be made.
